  1. A lot of evidence to suggest otherwise. I think even the greats need sounding boards / someone to bounce ideas off / someone to suggest a change at the right time in a match, not to mention being a buffer between the boss and the players. And in Terry McDermott's case, someone to put out the cones in training/pop down the bookies. That's just out of order. I'm a bit sick of people putting him down so unfairly. He deserves more credit. He also organised the Christmas parties.
  2. Joe Lewis lives in the Bahamas, that's what he's getting at. Nothing actually wrong with that per se.
  3. Interesting page here, possibly a couple of weeks out of date now given the moves that have taken place this window. Spurs are partly bankrolled by a billionaire aren't they? http://www.transferleague.co.uk/league-tables/2006-2011.html Spurs have the second highest average spend per season, from the year 2006 to the present day. We're second from bottom. Us
  4. We'll probably end up with his half brother.
  5. He's 30 in a few months. Getting rid of Routledge is just stupid. He might not offer much end product but at least he stretches defenders. Good to have as a sub when they're tiring. And furthermore, how in the fuck does Alan Smith manage to stay on on his wages yet a player on (you'd assume) a lot less who at least offers something gets moved on? Absolute joke.
  6. Excellent news. The man knows the club and has plenty of experience.
  7. http://twitter.com/Scotty_0910/status/27138199826468864 Absolutely disgusting stuff.
  8. We only need 10 points to stay up, might not even need that many. Relegation is no longer on the agenda. I think we'd all take 50 points, if I'm right we'll be 45 from 30 played. There's still only the 7 points between us and 18th. As things stand we should be fine but I've supported this club long enough to know to never take anything for granted. We've definitely done better than I thought we would have. To put it into perspective, if we'd held on for the win on Sunday we'd be in 7th, 2 points off that lot in 6th, and with a game in hand. Pardew has done pretty well too - if we'd won it would have been 4 league wins out of 6. I'm just nervous about us going on another dodgy run. West Ham - for the most of the season - are the only side who have been consistently poor. Wigan will probably cling on to survival and Wolves have the self-belief. Blackpool might fall off a bit as the season wears on but there's not been a clear relegation candidate like in previous years. No Portsmouth or Burnley etc. We're on course.
  9. Didn't Souness, of all people, take us on a 7 game unbeaten run when he first came in?
  10. Not bothered about where we finish in relation to Sunderland, it's all about survival for me. This thread is petty and something we ridicule them for doing. A thread concerning the mathematics and predictions to doing with us staying up however is something I'd take a keen interest in.
  11. What on earth is wrong with what he's said there, in response to something he would have been asked?
  12. Still can't believe we didn't win this. However all I want from this season is survival, so if we get that I'll soon forget about the disappointment.
  13. Villa are about as fashionable as turnup jeans imo. Sunderland, Villa, Everton three clubs who are about as sexy as Jodie Marsh. Compared to Sunderland, they're more fashionable.
  14. Villa are a more fashionable club They're not in a great position at the moment but with that said the league is so tight that I wouldn't judge certain clubs too much.
  15. He's English and his stats speak for themselves. His true worth might be inflated a bit but certainly not to the extent you're making out. He's also at the peak age for a striker (27 in a few weeks).
  16. Just seen this. http://twitter.com/DB11TT/status/24153225376571392
  17. Imagine if we'd have beaten them yesterday. Some would be near suicidal.
  18. Never saw that coming. Ameobi is mediocre at best and Best is now that much better because he scored a hat-trick against one of the worst defensive displays I have ever seen.
  19. Barton, Nolan and even Butt possibly did more than he did in terms of dressing room influence. Not sure why you're singling him out for special praise in this context. He put himself about a bit, which I appreciate helped our cause, but in terms of end product he did next to nothing. I feel for him because he's not been the same since his leg break. He's done well to still be at a Premiership club.
  20. Your "great argument" is that he makes bad tackles (aka "doing something")?
  21. Apparently Webb was totally biased in our favour. http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=558761 Clearly, since he booked him for a nothing handball and didn't penalise some of their lot for blatantly yellow worthy tackles.
