  1. It must be that on some level, it translates into some form of gain. Maybe the political clout it brings matters to smaller nations we deal with.
  2. Dammit, I'm going from bad to worse in forum conventions! Thanks for clarifying and for that...graphic imagery.
  3. Ok look, what's a winnet? I've been trying to ignore my ignorance for that term for ages and I just can't take it anymore.
  4. Ah fair enough then. I had the impression that their focus on youth would keep player wages low, high profits on sales, etc...wonder where all the money goes.
  5. They did but I didn't think all of it. Even if they had some £20m left over it would probably be enough to surpass our profits wouldn't it? Assuming that they've benefited similarly to us in the TV revenue stakes. EDIT - for clarity, I mean £20m on top of whatever their standard profit is.
  6. Really? Even with Southampton making all the sales they did?
  7. All Quantitative Easing does is kick the can down the road. If this is what Europe needs though, then fair enough I suppose.
  8. So what you're saying here, is that you really don't like Bjork.
  9. I think he's got them all, there were only 17. We await further challenges from the quizmaster To be fair, I quite enjoy these so I'm grateful to Dave for putting them up.
  10. Love the anger in this thread title.
  11. Fucks sake man, imagine having to look at that for the rest of your life.
  12. Oldham Athletic? Coventry City? Sheffield Wednesday? Sheffield United? Manchester City? Wimbledon?
  13. Southampton do have a strong model and we do seem to have taken steps in this respect; wasn't our academy upgraded recently? Or we're attempting to get the highest classification or something? The thing is though, while I think a lot of us would be on board with this thinking if they came out and said it was to build a platform for success in the future, the reality is that it's just as likely that Ashley will pay his debt back to himself and then just continue taking money out of the club as a dividend, doing just enough to keep us afloat.
  14. Unlikely as that was, it's a fucking stupid bet.
  15. Wait what?? After all the Guardian's celebrations they can't possibly have brought it back?
  16. Revenue isn't profit mind... if we're run really badly then we could quite easily be spending all of that just keeping afloat. Of course we know that Mashley is looking at taking about £50m out of the club this year in dividends, so... Is it naive of me to think that this is just our 'Arsenal phase' and that in years to come once the debt is paid off we'll be bringing in players like Ozil and Sanchez?? I think I know the answer to that.
