Not saying it was better than Robert's like, let's not get carried away...
-
@ADP: That is an unbelievable strike... it starts bending right and then goes left ffs...
-
A left back? That's basically the only position that I think we're oversubscribed in

Her marker was a bit hapless. Williamson probably would have out and out flattened her rather than risk her getting a shot off Otherwise, I wonder about the keeper more than anything. Would a better keeper have saved it? It wasn't top corner as I recall, about chest high in fact.

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jan/13/newcastle-united-players-club-decision-new-manager Nothing here out of the ordinary, but the players now are pressing the board for a decision apparently. Find it a bit worrying they'd apparently be content with Carver...

The only significant signing so far seems to be Bony going to City. And tbf, it's not that impressive...

Moussa Sissoko signs for Spurs for like £30m or WatEVA
Rayvin replied to Park Life's topic in Newcastle Forum
My bad - it started with just feeling that the only team he'd be suited for would be Chelsea, and that they've not really shown any interest in him (thus hoping that he'll remain here). It then moved to a general discussion that he's probably a more effective player than Willian. Which I personally feel is true.- 1745 replies

SSN have linked Defoe to 10 Premier League clubs today. Can't imagine we're one of them but I'd take him.

Jeez, the guy is a muslim as well. Fair play for speaking his mind at least...
-
I can totally relate to that (the La Tasca experience had the same effect on me).
-
I dunno what to tell you - we go quite often and are always really impressed with it. I wasn't going until a couple of years back mind you, so maybe they've pulled their socks up in the intermittent period. Then again, I may consider it favourably as it sits next to La Tasca, a restaurant where we once waited over an hour for service, despite frequent complaints, and eventually walking out.

Yeah the missus and I thought we'd go somewhere for that. I've been to Cafe21 a few times (it's my boss' favourite lunch restaurant) and honestly am not that blown away by them. Presentation is very good but it's all very...I dunno, pretentious? I remember green beans featuring heavily in many dishes. I prefer Gusto down the Quayside.

Yeah I'd agree. Not sure what it is that he supposedly brings to their team. Would probably go so far as to say that Sissoko is a more noticeable influence on games in truth, although that could just be because he plays for us and therefore I see him more.- 1745 replies

Also true - we need people to take the tough decisions as your average people are (perhaps justifiably) never going to be well informed enough to make the right calls on a number of things.
-
Very true, but I think the rationale is that for most day to day issues, people wouldn't bother. As such, you have someone employed to 'pay attention' and who you trust (supposedly) to represent your interests based on their election pledges. We'd probably have to all be reading up on political decisions quite frequently in order to make it work. On the bigger and more obvious issues mind, there's no reason why such a system couldn't be employed.

I'm clinging to whatever I can at this point. I'm very fearful of Sherwood getting it.
-
Are they even chants...? He hasn't just made those up has he...
-
Tim Sherwood apparently ruled out though. They may yet make a good appointment you know.

http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/jan/12/what-are-the-wittiest-chants-you-have-heard-at-a-football-match Very much enjoyed this article - the Guardian asking for football's wittiest chants. Most of the good ones are in the comments and are more or less unpublishable within the article itself, but well worth a look: "My favourite was on from many years ago in the auto glass windshield trophy final between I think Cardiff and Carlisle. All the Carlisle fans decided to buy blow up sheep, and come the first appropriate moment, waggled them in the air as one shouting 'SHEEP SHAGGERS!!'. The Cardiff fans had anticipated this move, and pulled out their own blow up sheep, whilst knocking out the chant 'Don't knock what you haven't tried!!’" "When Scotland played in Italy: "We're gonna deep-fry yer pizzas, deep-fry yer pizzaaas..."" to the tune of 'that's amore': "When the ball hits your head and you're sitting in row Z - that's Zamora" Aberdeen fans saluting goalscoring machine Adam Rooney with "he's not that Rooney, your granny is safe, he's not that Rooney your granny is safe" Shortly after Delia Smith's "let's be 'aving you", Chelsea fans composed this beauty: "We've got Abramovich, you've got a drunken bitch" To which the Norwich maestros replied: "We've got a super cook, you've got a Russian crook" Chelsea followed up with "One Gordon Ramsey, there's only one Gordon Ramsey" I mean there's loads of good ones - I think the best ones are from teams that are pretty terrible.

I wondered this myself, I just can't imagine how deluded they must have to be though. That said, without that delusion maybe they'd never have gotten started at all.
-
@Fish: I suppose so. Perhaps he'd argue that the year he spent on the bench is worth it for a higher salary for the rest of his playing years. Still think he'd have looked a better striker all round if he'd not done it though. He looks a bit of a busted flush now, as far as his actual ability goes. I don't think it's especially flattering that West Brom are leading the chase for him to be honest.
-
But then why did he move away from Chelsea after one full season? It can't just be the money or he'd just sit there warming the bench wouldn't he? Unless you think he's getting paid more now than he was then? And surely West Brom aren't going to be paying him as much as Chelsea were. I do basically take the point though.

As brave a statement as that is, the terrorists are dead - this will only piss off other potential terrorists. That said, I fully support their right to publish, and can totally understand their thinking.
-
That's a good point. Suppose it's possible he asked and Carver declined like, but I'm inclined to agree with your interpretation.
-
Still not certain I rate Berahino particularly... Shame about Ba, he seemed poised for quite the career before moving to Chelsea. I know that the money is probably the biggest factor, but how do these players not see this sort of thing coming? Anyone and his dog could have told Ba that he'd be a substitute at Chelsea, at best, and that he'd be off again within the year. See also Loic Remy.
