  1. I have to agree that he is overpriced. Spurs will need to really invest. Not enough quality in that squad to even finish above Liverpool
  2. Couldn't have asked for better results around the league today. Arsenal and Liverpool both drop points. Carzola does look an impressive signing. I'm not sure Podolski will be knocking them in for fun but I do expect Giroud will come good for them. Only caught a few minutes of the Liverpool match switching back and forth between that and Arsenal but both Penos were very weak calls. Gera's goal, however, was anything but weak
  3. It's your ratings mate- nothing wrong with that just offering up my opinion. Defoe didn't really get his head to that, to be fair it was Santon who almost provided an own-goal for Spurs. Thought the only moment Krul struggled was that one misplaced touch in the first half.
  4. I'd be very surprised. Anita looked good when coming on but we have Europe and other matches to get him into the first team. Ease him along. If anything, you drop one of Ba/Cisse and allow Jonas to go out wide. If you have Anita/Tiote in the middle you can free up Cabaye a bit more. Anita also looked strong going forward when he had a chance
  5. How you have Perch below Simpson, Tiote below Cabaye and Krul at a 6 is beyond me.... Krul was superb in net today- goal was allowed after a fantastic first save. Not much you can do as the keeper there. Collected the ball on several occasions under pressure and relieved pressure with huge punches. Very well played by him. Anyway- I'm not complaining about the manner of victory on day one of the season. Especially when we had some real fitness concerns and we were playing the 4th placed team from last year. Great start.
  6. I have.... 3rd season with Napoli won League by 15+ and Cup, CL final but lost to Barca. It's still fun, so whatever.
  7. Defoe, Fletcher....have at em lads. That's the same type of shit signings that got you nowhere before and will get you nowhere now
  8. Started a new one with Napoli. 1st season won Italian cup, 2nd won league, Italian cup and CL! It's still really fun, but I feel like this game has gotten easier over the years.
  9. If Debuchy signs you got an easy chant. To "Tequila" Debuchy!
  10. Saw two good shows in the last two days: Lotus Plaza and Here we Go Magic. Both have very good albums from this year
  11. I really don't get how people don't understand this concept.....
  12. Got a few copies from the Back Page when I was over there- good reading. Why is it that people don't particularly like True Faith? I don't subscribe but I've always enjoyed the website
  13. They can't sign like for like because it's more about getting their wages off the books. If they sign wisely- they could easily get 2-4 players in that makes the squad better in the future. It's tough to lose Thiago Silva. But at 28 and Zlatan at 30, and both of their contracts expiring next year- this was the last chance to get real money for them. Milan made a really intelligent business move.
  14. Decided to start a new match- in the old one I was in 5th in the Hall of Fame World-wide. Just felt like a new challenge for now. Starting with Napoli. Really utilized the monthly installments feature. Lots of ins/outs. Only 6 matches in but on 13 points in the league and tied Barcelona away in the Champions League
  15. I'd put a decent amount of money on us not getting him back. In fact, I think this is just a cheeky attempt to show that we are running a great business model for those that already haven't noticed.
  16. Possibly. But Demba Ba came without a transfer fee and I think was on 25-30k last year. Even if he gets a new deal worth 50k, that's still a huge monetary difference from Andy. Demba also scored 16 goals last season and didn't even feature as an out and out striker towards the end. There aren't a ton of players who hit that amount of goals in a season. You are talking about serious value for $
  17. You illustrate my point. Depth, depth and more depth. 20 million on one player, 80k on one player with limited resources is not conclusive to that end game. I admitted that if we got him at a decent rate it would be worth it, but it simply isn't at that. No way, no how. Local hero or not- I don't care. And Liverpool will NOT sell him at anything less than 17 million, and that's at the real low end of the spectrum. Again, if you know how football teams value their players as assets- you will realize that Liverpool won't take that hit. I'm not arguing that you need to spend to win. 20 million...better spent on Andy Carroll or Debuchy + a young striker + a CB? You don't know how Arsenal works, no offense on that and I mean no disrespect..... but Arsene Wenger has wasted more money than any other team in the business. His problem is that he pays BIG in wages and transfers for unproven players. And look where it has gotten them. Huge wages for unproven play....oh Andy Carroll? http://arsenaltruth.squarespace.com/arsenal-truth/2012/2/23/arsenals-130m-wage-bill-exposed.html Of course he can, and I suspect that he might be a success. It honestly has nothing to do with his talent- it has to do with the fact that we are taking on an asset that is way overpriced for a club of our stature. If we do that, do you not think Cisse will want parity after out-scoring him next year? Ba? Ben Arfa? Cayabe? Etc....We are having success with our model and we are going to grow into the club we all want us to be. It won't come from massively overpriced players on ludicrous wages- and really you need to look no further than our last chairman for that evidence.
  18. If those figures are true- we are going away from the model that has brought so much success, for a 3rd choice striker on this squad. Carroll isn't the same player without long balls from Barton and Nolan. Is he going to be able to link up with Hatem? Cabaye? Doubtful. We have better footballers on our team now- resorting to hoofing it seems illogical. Now, Carroll would absolutely be a good squad player. But not at 80k, not even at 60k. Liverpool would never allow him to leave for less than 80% of the wages, and I'd imagine it's going to be 100%. He's not worth it. For that $, we've seen we can get 2-3 really good players in. That's what this squad needs- not one signing that isn't going to improve the team all that much.
  19. The news this morning has me all:
  20. Breaking Bad has 4 seasons under it's belt (5th starting this Sunday) and is a very, very good show. Well worth watching.
  21. I'd like to think so- I just don't like putting yourself in a situation where another club KNOWS you desperately need a starting RB. I think in a sense we did that with Big Andy. Clubs knew we really needed a striker and we had all that money, so you get screwed by them inflating the prices. Of course the Jan transfer window is a different beast.... Let's hope a deal is all but agreed for someone, and that someone is named Debuchy
  22. Well, at this point I hate Mark Hughes and I think Barton is one of the biggest twats in the world. If they both left then I'd probably have no issue with QPR
  23. We haven't gotten Debuchy over the line yet. What really scares me about this transfer policy is selling players before we have others in, simply because they want "value" and all that but now we are hostage to the fact that we NEED a starting RB. I've said it in another thread- Simpson would have been a great player to have this season but at 25k a week I can understand them moving him on. I still don't think Perch and Raylor are sufficient cover for that position- at least if we want to actually win anything or finish decently in the league.
