  1. It'd take at least 5 years to build a third runway though so I'm not convinced the current recession should influence planning. As for the environment, the planes will simply go elsewhere, or remain stacked above our capital city, burning fuel, waiting to land. I'd imagine extra flights would be put on, rather than the existing density of flights being reduced to any great degree. If there is more demand extra flights will be put on anyway. They will just benefit other countries.

  3. Sounds like you could do with upgrading your hardware and software Leazes. PCs, laptops, and netbooks are cheap as chips nowadays.
  4. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/8696559.stm Credit where it's due. Can't help but agree with Richard Herring. Following the scrapping of ID cards and the new runway at Heathrow he pointed out... "It appears the new right wing government is going to be more left wing than the old left wing government, and yet left wing people are mourning the loss of a right wing left wing government, even though it is possible the new right wing government is more left wing. The first thing any new Labour leader should try is possibly to make their party more left wing than the Tories again....and if that's not too much to ask, possibly more left wing than the Liberal Democrats too." A bit daft to come to such conclusions so early based on a couple of policies. As for Heathrow, what does that have to do with political persuasion. To scrap runway three is just fucking stupid, end of. Environmental policies are frequently seen as a bit lefty liberal like. And protecting leafy southern villages is Conservative. I do admit though that the Daily Mail must be howling at the moon about the coalition!

Always thought those Indian chaps had good heads on their shoulders.
  7. Oddly enough I was just saying to my colleagues today how I have a craving for a cigarette - as Sima says maybe its something to do with the nice weather. It's been 8 years for me now and I still tend to get cravings when I am off the drink. I'd really fancy a spliff too. But, when you know the facts, any sane person would come to the conclusion tobacco is for mugs, so I won't be giving in to temptation.

128th in the world as ranked by GDP, 11th biggest economy in the world despite mega population, population spiralling out of control, massive inequalities in wealth distribution, no national health service to speak of, life expectancy 20 years behind European average, massive illiteracy problems, and can apparently afford to send men to the moon (something the US never managed ). Etfuckingcetera. Aye..... Backward.

Monsanto whould be closed down......they are evil incarnate Maybe but I'm all for GM personally. Can't stop progress. really? do you think they should be allowed to fiddle with the reproductive portions of seeds? right now they sell sterile seeds so that farmer have to buy more the next year....bullshit in my opinion. GM for the betterment of mankind i can get behind, GM for the sole purpose of making money and at the risk of future generations of plants is irresponsible and exactly whats wrong with society as a whole. Indian Govt have banned it recently iirc Banned what? All GM technology or Monsanto? India is quite a backward country anyway tbf.
  10. Surprised no-one has mentioned this. Sorry for shitty formatting - follow the link to the Beeb for a better version. What now for God?
  11. I gave up some time near the end of season 2 or start of season 3, I forget. Anyway, I hope someone going to provide a synopsis of the plot on here once its broadcast.
  12. It's just opinions CT, can't you see that? How do I back up my opinion? Neither Milliband has even been elected yet so this is ridiculously premature anyway. Once it happens, and there is a general election, we will get some objective evidence on what people think about individual candidates from polls and surveys. I haven't even made up my mind yet and would personally like to see them, and the other candidates, perform in hustings. As for Cameron, well. To be frank, either you are a bit thick or I am for falling for your constant wummery.
  13. Not at all young skywalker...... I enjoy all politics and enjoy politicians from all sides. The bottom line is the four or five currently up for election are a dreary lot. Of that there is no denial. If Milliband (d) is there best hope then they are seriously fucked. Sigh. This is just your opinion CT, not fact. You are 'dyed in the wool' tory (your words), you couldn't help being biased any more than I could with Cameron. And even if you were impartial, your opinion would fly in the face of most commentators. Milliband will win many votes compared to his predecessor. If the recession hits us hard, don't rule out you might have a PM as your MP. Sigh right back at you. It's not about party bias! Do you simply not understand? While being a Newcastle supporter I can recognise Rooney is a good player. While being a Tory I can recognise good politicians who have that "x factor" in other parties. Labour have had many over the years however myself and "many commentators", clearly recognise this bunch are a drab lot. This does not mean they won't win etc, just that they all lack that special appeal. If you think I'm wrong at least add a bit of substance to why you think a particular one has the x factor rather than just telling me I'm wrong! Tell you what, why don't you prove you're right for a change and that this description of the Millibands is more than just your own opinion? Out of interest, do you think Cameron has the 'x factor'?

That's what I said. which? for profit? or for mankind? I am defending the technology, not the company. Are new technologies open to abuse in a capitalist system? Of course. Does this mean they shouldn't be developed? No in my opinion. GM has the potential to save millions of lives in the right hands.
  15. If she got elected (which she won't) it'd destroy Labour in it's heartlands, in my experience the "working man" ain't that enlightened sadly Never happen in a million years. Although I do also question the wisdom of the Millibands taking votes from each other.

  19. Got to say Columbo for me - I love the way he just knows from the start. Also Cracker makes a canny anti-hero.
  20. Does your wife work as well CT? You don't seem to put many hours in at work to be honest, you always seem to be on a jolly.
  21. It's a shoe in for David Milliband I reckon. Perhaps Alan Johnson would have been good, but I think either Milliband will be more appealing for most the electorate. CT, you've got to appreciate you are coming from your own biased perspective here. From my p.o.v., the Conservatives are incredibly weak on the personality front, look at the dregs they've had to scrape up to fill their cabinet, even though several places have gone to the now defunct Lib Dem party. Cameron should have won on a landslide against Brown so there are clearly even problems at the very top. As for Gideon, oh dear.

It's in the coalition manifesto released today. I preferred Fish's wording. Aye, and text speak should be a capital offence, agreed.
