  1. Glad that's clear then.
  2. Presumably this is based on observational studies so the risk of confounding factors must be considerable. Are people sleeping less because they are drugged up and partying more for example? I usually sleep about 5-6 hours on a school night but top up at the weekends. Not very healthy I imagine.
  3. Fairly ignorant about Slipknot but obviously they have some fans so I will avoid the obvious jokes re: the title. RIP number 2.
  4. This thread is purgatory.
  5. You think one person can effectively manage over 100,000 constituents? I think you need a compelling case to change the status quo, not just a pointless comparision with other countries or a RobW hunch.
  6. Dr and Herbs reckon they have a 99% success rate in smoking cessation so I don't know what the fuss is about tbh.
  7. Chantix is varenicline, which has been approved by NICE iirc, so available on the NHS in principle. I can't remember how it compares with nicotine replacement therapy. Seems like over-medicalising a problem which can be solved with will power alone if I'm honest.
  8. Can't see how this applys to Lost in paticular, conisdering it's reocurring, and I've never seen a spin-off. I agree about Life on Mars, I thought it was a brilliant series, and never took to it's spin-off Ashes to Ashes. What are your issues with this non-existent plot, and when did you throw in the towel regarding Lost? I stopped aound the series 2/3 border I think, when it became apparent to me there was not going to be a coherent explanation regarding the strange goings on on the island. Also I think there was dispute between Virgin and Sky 1 at the time which didn't help. I just like things to make sense, if you're not too bothered about strong plot lines, fair enough. I can't be arsed about most American dramas after series 1 nowadays if I'm honest. Take True Blood. Promising first series, turned to shit in the second, imo, obviously.
  9. It's wrong to underestimate the amount of good local work a good constituency MP can do. This won't help that.
  10. Aye, I heard Conservative gerrymandering was in the pipeline. It doesn't seem right that a party that did not even command a majority can do this.
  11. I've lost all respect for you as Toontastics Film critic. In no way do I allow comps to impact my critical integrity....as the above thoughts on She's out of my league should prove. ...I suspect my thoughts of Death at a Funeral will be more scathing, given it's an English language remake of an English language film that came out only 3 years ago but now stars Martin Lawrence. I think you're missing the point there a bit HF. How can a person claim to love films if they don't see them in their best medium unless it's free? I've got a projector, a 2m screen and surround sound in my house where I watch films without little shits playing on their phone, making a racket and hoying stuff about. I think it's an even better way to watch films. Even when i went to the Tyneside to watch Lebowski I couldn't believe how many people couldn't hold a piss in for 2 hours. Every ten minutes someone was pushing past other viewers and blocking the screen. And they're supposed to be the more discerning viewer. Fair enough but you're still waiting several months to watch them in your private cinema. Problem with the Tyneside is you can take in drinks hence the increased pissing. It's less of a problem at the Odeon etc although you run the risk of talking for some releases. It doesn't seem that long ago since you could smoke in the Tyneside tbh - those were the days.

  13. Lost isn't for people who need answers to every question that they face in life, on a daily basis. I'm afraid Renton, that sounds just like you. Lost isn't for people who like a plot tbh.
  14. I've lost all respect for you as Toontastics Film critic. He's no Barry Norman like.
  15. Having read the Guardian site it seems that Lost really is a bit shit, with a cop out ending. Glad I trusted my instincts and gave up when I did - they should have left it as remake of Forbidden Planet, which it was in the first series. This seems to be a problem with many programs. Take Life on Mars for instance. After a great initial series the kerching sets in and they make a pointless follow up series, where I promptly lose interest. Booo.
  16. Can't believe you hadn't been to the refurbed Tynside before. You'll be telling me you haven't been to the theatre next, you pleb.
  17. Where's this synopsis then for those of us who gave up? Chop chop.
  18. Lost was just a mechanism to squeeze as many $$$ as possible from a piss weak concept. You of all people should wake up to this.
  19. sounds pretty damn good to me. About to start a 14 hour spell in the cab with a passenger window that's stuck up and air conditioning that's not working!!! Are you aware that you're breaking the law? I hope to fuck I never get picked up by you after a 14 hour session. Are you aware that once again you are wrong He's not breaking the law, but if he's pulled by a licensing officer he'll be off the road until it's fixed. Assuming you are registered with South Tyneside , and that their regulations are the same as North Tyneside. My bad, I thought taxis driving time was limited by the working time directive, but apparently private cabs are exempt (not sure why). Regardless, driving a 14 hour shift is clearly irresponsible and dangerous; before CT claims I am on my high horse maybe he should consider this case. I suspect he's just trying to impress and being a Billy Bullshitter as usual though. Fist is on ignore so Im not sure what he's talking about getting "fixed" and being off the road?? A 14 hour shift is nothing Renton. Its not like lorry driving where you are constantly driving, most of your time is sitting waiting for a job. What all the a&e's up and down the country with Doctors working rediculous hours with very little sleep. Really a hoo hah about nothing. Hmmm, if you say so. Bizarre how hot it has become compared with 2 weeks ago when it was baltic. I'm going for a nice walk to St Mary's lighthouse and will no doubt stop off for some refreshment on the way back. Love the summer me.

  22. Nope, no modicums of integrity left I'm afraid.
  23. Makes you look far less preposterous when you try and get India, the US, China and that to agree to reduce their emissions with a multilateral agreement though. OK, a bit tongue in cheek but in this case I just think the planes would go straight to Schipoll or Charles de Gaulle. I'd give it 18 months before the tories backtrack on this decision. And about the same time frame for many civil liberty issues too.
  24. It'd take at least 5 years to build a third runway though so I'm not convinced the current recession should influence planning. As for the environment, the planes will simply go elsewhere, or remain stacked above our capital city, burning fuel, waiting to land. I'd imagine extra flights would be put on, rather than the existing density of flights being reduced to any great degree. If there is more demand extra flights will be put on anyway. They will just benefit other countries. Which is why it's a strong environmental move by the UK. You can stick unilateral environmentalism up your arse tbh.
  25. Got O2 for my iPhone and Virgin for my broadband. Both have been really good so far.
