LM has a point tho. The guardian has SLATED us (Nufc fans) for being proper racist cunts (which many on here quite rightly feel EXTREMELY strongly about). However, when a 'right wing rag' to quote Renton blows the whistle on a dirty old bastard who obviously wants 'his whistle blown' from a so called lady many years younger than himself, you all get hot under the collar? Quite frankly the whole 'NUFC banning the Mail' thing stinks of ( a ) oportunism and ( b ) lost profit for the fat fucka in charge! And quite frankly, getting a lecture from Lineker, that paragon of virtue who recently left his lass and disabled bairn for a younger, tighter model is the ultimate in hypocrisy. All in all, everyone involved in this sordid tale is as bad as the next. I don't get the point at all. As far as I can tell, most posters here condemn both articles but want neither banned. So where's the hypocrisy in that? As for the 'Guardian has slating NUFC fans for being proper racist cunts', I hardly think that's a rational appraisal of the article in question. More like the Guardian made up rubbish to try and validate some tenuous point without caring about the consequences (i.e. the stereotyping of Newcastle fans). I'm not defending the article which was shoddy, but honestly, you could probably ban every paper in the Country from attending NUFC if you set that as the benchmark. Personally, I wouldn't really care if they were all banned anyway, I prefer to read peoples' match opinions on here.

Looks like we're canny fucked either way though. I'm a europhile and still am. But I always thought bringing in the Mediterranean countries and the former Eastern Bloc was a step too far and driven by political rather than economic needs. If possible these countries should be hoyed out and Scandinavia, France, UK, Germany, and Benelux should start again. Undecided about Italy........

To be fair only the reply was pasted here so I don't think we know what the matter was really about anyway. But again, what are you suggesting? A member of the Met office lied to a member of the public? The Met office are part of a wider conspiracy? Personally I'd sooner trust a second hand opinion from a meteorology expert than some loon on the internet who believes cancer is a vitamin deficiency. They can't even get the weather right. Science is all about managing uncertainty Parky my dear, and this is especially true of chaotic systems (like weather and the stock market). Problem with the Met office is that people don't handle uncertainty well, and they are pressurised into making categorical claims when they are not really certain. Anyway, I read this article and thought of you. Interesting article though, seriously, tell me what you think when you have a moment. New Scientist.

Exactly, what the fuck has England got to do with NUFC anyway? Are they going to ban every paper that has dodgy undercover football stories? And then why stop at football stories etc.? Makes no sense.

Wasn't that the basis of a Father Ted episode once - the My Lovely Horse one?

I'm not sure I follow this post. What's wrong with being skeptical and how are conspiracists circumspect? Its all about evidence and plausibility ar the end of the day. And can anyone name a single major conspiracy that has been confirmed with hindsight? I'm not talking of relatively trifling matters like Watergate here, although the very fact that was uncovered shows how hard it is to keep even little secrets. I'm talking big stuff, like Doctors witholding the cure to cancer, HIV not being responsible for AIDs, man not landing on the moon, 911 being committed by shadowy figures above the US government, etc. Some people feel the need to believe their is a shadowy elite controlling our destinys, that is for certain. I'm confident that they are wrong, and they haven't taken into account that the natural state of the Universe is one of order through chaos. That is, at the end of the day, shit just happens.

Jupiter, the most dynamic and turbulent planet in the solar system, in change shocker. Not only that, apparently it's been changing as long as we have been able to observe it. It takes a special type of brain to link the changing meterological phenomena on Jupiter to a global conspiracy on Earth concerning the use of pods to spray toxic chemicals from aircrafts.

For some reason I'm addicted to this shit, even the kids version. It is a bit cringeworthy but then they're old enough to marry so I'm not that arsed about ethical issues. Although they do look young - apart from that Tim lad who I am convinced lied on his application and is really a 30 year old semi-paedo.

This is also one of the theories. There are some very strange things going on in our solar system right now ie Venus losing one of its rings and ALL the planets looking like they are heating up/new anomalies in their magnetic fields *see nasa website. @Renton Commercial airlines/planes aren't involved at all. This is strictly a military op hence the ease of deniabiltiy. I know that over europe it is American planes doing it which are Nato alligned some based in Belgium and others based in the Uk and Germany. I don't really know why they would be doing it, but the cost is high (in terms of fuel and mantime, the aerosol is cheap to make) so there must be some very grounded reasoning behind it. UV is definately part of the puzzle as is atmospheric temperatures which might be an issue if there are problems with our magnetic field as there is currently with Venus. It was only recently acknowledged that there is a kind of filligree of electromagnetism that links the planets depending on orbit and procession, so things happening on the big ones (inc the sun) also effects us. SOMETHING IS GOING ON. Erm, Venus doesn't have any rings and only has a neglible magnetic field though. Out of interest, are military flights a regular occurence in Germany because I don't think they are here (they're pretty easy to spot). So that would beg the question, why would Germany prepare for 2012 or whatever, but not the UK, bearing in mind both are members of the EU and Nato? Could it be that perhaps Rob's explanation, provided by a qualified expert, might be correct? That contrails have always had an atmospheric effect but the increase in flights in recent years would make this more noticeable? This just reeks of the usual conspiratorial speculation on nothing.

Well I can't get those at work and have no inclination to look at them at home - the first was bad enough. Do they answer my questions or address your sense of panic after you witnessed a cloudy afternoon in Hamburg?

Fucking hell Parky, are you being serioud here? What are you proposing? 'They' are putting barium and other chemicals into aviation fuel to cool the planet? Or 'they' are deliberately polluting organic vegetables so we'll have to buy GM food (as suggested by the OP video)? Who is in on this global scandal - fuel manufacturers, air traffic control, meteorologists, government, the military, aliens? Do you even know how utterly insane these conspiracy theories sound? Is there any conspiracy theory on the net you don't subscribe to? Edwin Griffin, the person who is promoting the video, believes cancer is caused by vitamin B deficiency and that the medical profession is suppressing this truth. And he has the nerve to ask for a donation at the end of it so the truth can be told. Kerching! They don't put it in the fuel (it would fuck up the engines), they have dedicated pods for it. As I said earlier I didn't belive it for a very long time, but I've seen it for myself now in Hamburg, Surrey and when I was in Basel. The possible explanations are: 1. It is anti-satellite detection - a film of alu powder floating in the atmosphere stops satellite imaging. But then it would be a war game and not continuous. It's not a new idea, Saddam did almost the same thing by setting fire to the oil rigs. 2. It is a trial for global cooling, alu reflects sunlight and barium is a well known radiation leech. Combined they would have an effect of the fierceness of the sun. 3. It is old style weather mod (the Russians have been doing it for at least 30 years), to create more cloud formation and rain. So when you say it is a trial, you mean it is not standard practice for commercial planes? What proportion of planes do you think are using these pods? Are they exclusively military or are civilian planes used as well? And who is in on the cover up? Why is weather modification required over Germany? Who is funding the global cooling project and why is it secret? What is being covered up in Germany to prevent satellite detection now the cold war is over? Why is the OP video endorsed by a recognised conspiracy loon? Etc. None of your motives makes sense to me and the idea of a wide scale cover up is simply not plausible.

I fancy a break in Cornwall but don't know if I can afford it - seriously. I'm not driving for 10 hours so by the time I have sorted flights, car hire, accomodation and a food for a week it'd be cheaper to go to many other destinations, with much better weather.
-
OK, are you suggesting that is not a coincidence then? (Find it difficult to tell who is serious and who isn't when it comes to conspiracy theories). As it happens, I missed that film, what else is going to happen?

Too samey for my liking - it's all identikit beaches. France, Scotland, and Mexico for me, and some trips to the Lakes. Great stuff.

why? Just a general perception because of her New Labour background and her feminist attitudes etc. And no, I'm not going to back up my perceptions with a link, and yes, I am probably being unfair to you and those I'm generalising. I think she'd be a poor choice of leader personally, I just can't see the electorate taking to her.
-
Too late for her to be nominated now I think. You surprise me CT, if you're being honest that is. Most people fitting your demographic would have the knives out for Harman without thinking about it twice.
-
Think you're overreacting a bit to this personally Craig. It's just lazy journalism rather than anything malicious imo.

No shit Sherlock.

Don't recall any 'protest' against Cole but I do remember he allegedly decided to live in Crook which was not the most cosmopolitan place. There were some idiots handing out racist flyers when Gullit was appointed manager though. But then again so what? They got short shrift from 99% of the fans.

When is out, and has this been officially confirmed? It will probably be officially announced at the annual Apple WWDC even on June the 7th. This, so it will be out around June July time if it doesn't get released at the same time as the WWDC event. Rumours are going around that it maybe available in White aswell, and I'm not on about just a white back like the current 3GS has. I saw an image a few days ago of it in a variety of colours - white, black, green, blue etc. Wooo hooo. Availabe in different colours, now that's a deal maker.

I've had quotes higher than that for some tiny scratch a random has done in a car park. I decided it was not worth the money to repair in the end and left it. It's good your wife was honest though imo.
