I think natural ability might come into it somewhere like, otherwise I'm really pissed off I went to University and got a "normal" job. 141451 He's got natural ability though hasn't he. I wouldn't underestimate what 200 games in the first team can do to improve your game if you apply yourself the way Chopra does. 141454 I don't think he has at this level, no. Or at least he's damn good at hiding it. 200 games later he'd still lack technical ability imo. We all know the bottom line is neither are good enough, but if we have to choose, I reckon it's Ameobi every time. Anyway, at least he scored against the mackems, so he will have something nice to remember!

No place for sentiiment etc., plus, he really isn't as good as Ameobi.

Best for all concerned tbh.

Stubborn old bastard like, but that is common with increasing age. Ask Bobby Robson or LeazesMag. Oh, and I've always been stubborn, but I agree Parker has been excellent on ocassion.

As usual Glenn knows something simple that was beyond the reckoning of Fuckwitt Souness a man who would play a midfield of Parker and Faye at home against crap opposition and make Faye the attackign midfielder! Parker can do the job of defensive midfielder and do it well, but particularly at home he will be better used as a box to box player who still looks after defensive duties as and when needed. 141146 I'm not convinced about his goal scoring tbh. He didn't score much for Charlton either, did he? We need more goals from the midfield next year with our paucity of strikers - one or two wonder goals a season isn't going to cut it. 141151 So i get ostracised for saying bellamy didnt score enough and thats the most important thing for a striker, yet youre saying parker isnt good enough cos he doesnt score enough . . . and hes more of a holding midfield player 141318 What are you on about being ostracized for thinking that? If you have had the piss taken out of you or been ignored I think it might be for other reasons..... As it happens I was also of the opinion that Bellamy didn't score enough for us, I wasn't his number one fan, although that part of his game has improved immensely with good management. Parker is a completely different matter though, he hardly ever scores at all. I don't buy this "holding" midfielders don't score, not to the extent they are being outscored by our centrebacks. And then we are told he's "box to box"..... Waiting for Shearergol to say but Makalele..... :(

So answer me this - why were we much better without Parker in the team? The fact that his disappearance more or less coincided with Souness going might have something to do with it , but seriously, I don't know why people rave about him. As usual I will be proved right with time..... 141135 What a silly argument. Like someone said, that makes chopra and ameobi better than shearer and owen Cant believe how daft somepeople can be. You might as well have said that ronaldinho sucks since chelsea won the title without signing him or the beegees were rubbish because they couldn't sell more albums than the beetles. Thats the kind of argument you are giving. No personal offence mate, but that post just drove me up the wall. 141241 Sorry, your analogies are wrong, because you are comparing entirely different teams or bands. If a team doesn't miss a player, does that not say something about that player? Roeder makes the comparison of Parker and Gerrard. Do you not think Liverpool miss Gerrard when he doesn't play? Do their results improve without him in the team? I don't think so. It's just my opinion, shared by a minority of others, that this year he hasn't contributed enough positive moves to the team. Whether that is all down to Souness or is a limitation of the player I don't know. My personal feeling is that the crowd likw him because he "gives 110%" and wins tackles. For me, that is not enough. I am on record as saying I didn't like Batty, and I feel Parker is a player in the same mould. As for the chip on the shoulder comment (from Brock), don't be daft, I have nowt against the lad, and at least he doesn't get into trouble off the pitch. I made that point as I thought Scottish Mag's comment was daft (and for that matter innaccurate) regarding him saying we haven't played any decent teams when Parker was out.
-
Though I do think we need him, we did pretty well without him at the end of the season, don't you think? 141225 We weren't exactly playing against great teams to be fair. 141227 Was Parker impressive against good teams? Were any of our players for that matter?
-
Can I add that comparisons with Stephen Gerrard are totally stupid and cringeworthy.

Does that mean Chopra is better? 141141 We missed him against Brum and he scored a vital penalty against Celtic!

Fair enough, we've all made stupid mistakes/ had wrong opinions. I think his opinion about Parker has been proved right so far, but he has gone OTT. Next year it depends what Roeder can do with him, obviously. He was spot on about JAB though.

Supermac. 141083 Supermac's theory is that he is a crowd pleaser, he looks like he does the business, but actually contributes little and makes us too defensive. Thing is, he's got a point, and we really didn't miss him at the end of the season when he was ill. I also have my reservations about him, and unless he can prove he can do more than tackle, I am not that bothered if he plays tbh. People might say McDonald spouts bollocks, but the reality is he understands the game better than anyone else on here. Whilst people on here were creaming themselves when JAB first came here, SuperMac rightly said he was shit. Lucky guess, or does he know his stuff after being a professional player and manager? I think I will pay more attention to McDonald than J69, who reckons Chopra is a premiership player.

Well, I would have said that was a pretty wierd and sinister thing to do. Until I read the rancid turd thread, when I realised I have led a very sheltered life.

I need official linkage before I criticisize my favourite player.

Shearer made him carry his cases then spent the entire holiday trying to drown Bellamy in the hotel pool is what I heard. 140882 Well i heard that Bellamy was in the pool to get his mobile which Shearer had thrown in there because Bellamy had spent the whole week sending Al offensive texts! 140890 Didn't Bellamy throw his mobile at Shearer, but it missed him and accidentally went up JJ's arse or something?

Some great stuff there. Nobby is 36! Choco you lying bastid.

Who's calling him a liar like? 140584 Brock..... renton..... 140603 Hadaway and shite.

His point was, iirc, would you rather sign Ronaldino, or build a whole team for £40M. And it's a good one, I reckon. Trophy signings get you nowhere and as a result we are brassic! 140568 I disagree, Owen is exactly the sort of player we should be looking to sign. Players like Amdy Faye, Andy O'Brien, James Milner, Basedas etc., etc. are the ones that get you nowhere and fritter away the money. 140576 We can't afford a team of superstars at the moment though, and one player does not make us a good team, especially one who rarely plays. I'm not advocating signing crap players, but players that work together as a team win you things (e.g. Porto under Mourinho). The snag is you need a decent manager, which is the bit we don't seem to bother about.....

Mr Beef Curtains himself tbh. 140529 I always thought Fat Fred and Souness would work well together, since one was a fat prick and the other other a great big twat! 140534 I thought Shepherd was an arsehole. Dougie Hall is the twat and Souness is a prick. 140541 No, Fred was the prick because he stuck up for Souness (the twat) in the Bellamy issue, and Bellamy was nothing more than a little arsehole! 140544 I think Bellamy is more of a prick on reflection. Shepherd is still an arsehole, Hall is a twat, and Souness is a cunt. And I've ran out of body parts for Oliver. 140546 I didn't know you and he were that close and had experimented so much together! 140548 To bring back the dolphin thread, Oliver is the blowhole (though can't think of a sweary word for it). But I've still got two vaginal synonyms, so Hall can be a prick, and Bellamy is merely a tit.

I've enjoyed watching you back-pedal since then. 140445 I haven't back-pedalled you monkey-hanging pleb! 140536 Yes you have. The ironic thing is, Wullie has probably been more right than any of us, by sticking to the simple rule of being the most negative! I'm the runner up.
