1. Be interesting if they bid the alleged £12million to trigger the release clause. 140120 How much did we pay for him again? Is this another master stroke by Shepherd? FFS, sell him and spend the money on someone that can be arsed to play for us.
2. And neither are we. I do understand where you're coming from Leazes, but in my opinion, Shepherd just doesn't have the skills to achieve our goals. Ambition can only take you so far. I also think the setup of Newcastle is corrupt to the core. You mention Douglas Hall, and I think he is an even bigger problem than Shepherd, but then again, the two of them are big mates. As long as Shepherd continues with his geordie obsession and his reactionary appointments/dismissals, not to mention his terrible PR, it's hard to see how we can be successful like other clubs at the same financial level are. I know you disagree with this, but we'll see whose right in another 10 years or so I guess. 139455 Well, if you are so convinced. Stop going. I don't agree though. I also however, don't agree that qualifying for europe is nowhere either, and neither does the rest of the 52,000 139460 What kind of response is that? On the one hand you imply I'm a JCL, on the other you tell me to give up going because I don't think we can win anything with Shepherd! Jesus wept. My belief btw is that NUFC could literally be the biggest club in the country with the possible exception of Man United if it was managed properly at team and board level. I base this on the fact that we have a fanatical fanbase despite over 35 years without winning anything (which I appreciate doesn't seem important to you but I beg to differ). Who knows, maybe Shepherd will appoint the right man one day and we will be successful, but I think his options are ever decreasing (I think appointing Roeder is proof of this). My main hope though is for a takeover. I'll leave it at that as obviously you can't discuss things rationally with anyone who disagrees with you, without resorting to the usual insults. Pathetic really.
3. In other words, we can't get shot of them.

5. That's at least 4 years old, and yes, I am a genius.
6. Shepherd is never going to resign, he loves the attention the job gives him too much. Not only that, but when he does finally step down (I imagine due to health problems), it is most likely that his son will take over, because NUFC is a nepotistic club, as any casual glance at the list of board members will clarify. Personally, I'd love it if someone was to buy him out, and we completely revamped the board, perhaps putting a person with a grasp of football in as chief executive. Can't see it happening though.
7. Hadaway and shite Alex There are people still harping on about it now ....... 139425 Who?
8. I thought it was a kind of compliment. The damaging comment for me was the one about the shirts.
9. If we're going to open the wider debate, how can his obsession with all things "geordie" possibly be anything other than a hindrance, at best? And does Leazes really believe him gloating over ripping off fans did not affect merchandise? Or how about the fact that he takes proportionately more out the club than any other chairman, regardless of results? What about his pitiful comments regarding lower league teams? The list goes on and on, and is added to weekly by Shepherd himself. And for the record, how well have we really performed on the pitch since Shepherd took over from Hall, after having inherited an excellent position? A couple of finals where we were hopelessly outclassed, and two goes at the Champions league. Not bad you might think, until you consider what our nearest rivals (in terms of wealth) have achieved in the mean time. And then consider how we have fared against these clubs in head to head matches - our record is simply apalling, with no wins at Anfield, Old Trafford, or Stamford Bridge (and only one at Highbury). I know Leazes loves to remind us of how bad we used to be, but he seems to be the only person unable to grasp that football has moved on since then. And then of course, he'll resort to calling you a JCL or a divine righter if you dare challenge him, or simply call you clueless. As I said earlier in this thread, we had the chance 10 years ago to really break through into the elite. Fact is under Shepherd we have blown it, and the man at the top must take the blame.
10. Whole-heartedly agree with everything you say there, apart from the bit in bold. Leazes has been a simpleton, not worth arguing with as long as I've been reading the forums, why do people persist? Genuine question, like. 139255 Boredom? 139259 Odd. But I think debating anything with Renton is becoming increasingly pointless. Odd too DB, I think you're a simpleton too, especially with your naive do gooder head on. 139262 You like your mindless insults like . Serious question Leazes - are you Freddy Shepherd? 139266 Really. Would you mind reminding us of the pathetic jibe you made at HTL again ? 139376 What, when he called me a paedophile you mean? Anyhow, that's water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned, it was resolved at the time with apologies from both sides and has fuck all to do with this thread. 139384 Entirely relevant when you start harping on about mindless insults and making them too. 139386 FFS, I didn't make the insult, it was HTL, because I had incorrectly attributed something to him which he denies ever saying. Which was fair enough, but his calling me a paedophile wasn't.
11. Poor thing. Such sensitive people. Who would you replace him with that would guarantee us to catch the only 2 clubs we haven't caught up with since the Halls and Shepherd took over the club ? 139079 change the record for fucks sake 139227 change the record for fucks sake. If you attempted to answer the question instead of avoiding it...that is if you understand it in the first place with it being too subtle for you I think 139240 what's the point? we've had this conversation at least ten times before 139241 but you still don't reply, why not ? Why don't you reply or change your record ? Why do you think the club is shit then expect them to buy top players ? Why does it not occur to you only the best clubs buy top quality players ? Would you like to see the club replace Shepherd with a shit chairman with no ambition like ALL the other big city clubs that we have got ourselves above and stayed above in the last decade that were previously above us for decades ? Yes or no. Believe me. THAT is 10 times more embarrassing and damn frustrating than someone coming out and saying daft harmless off the cuff comments in the press. 139257 er... i have. but just in case you missed it the last ten times: shepherd is a tit. i commend him for backing his managers financially but by the same rationale he deserves criticism when he continues to make such absurd statements. his lack of professionalism for a premier league chairman is baffling and frankly the fact that you choose to defend it is even more baffling. 139269 5th best in the country over a decade, qualifiying for europe 7 times, reaching 2 FA Cup Finals and buying England players is not unprofessional. It is professional where it matters. Would you prefer a chairman who was a gentleman who didn't back his managers and ran a shit club like the mackems, or us ourselves for decades just like them ? Why don't you answer ? Are you dumb, or just ignorant ? These people who keep harping on about the chairman, why don't they change their record ? And did you boo at the testimonial ? Do you think it was alright ? Because if you did, you have embarrassed the clubs supporters as much if not more than anyone, little but do you realise it through not really understanding what a shit board and chairman would really do to the club. 139383 Leazes, instead of harping on with your stock responses, which have been answered dozens of times, why don't you stay on topic for a change. Is it acceptable for Shepherd to publically threaten a member of the LMA or not? Yes, or no? That is after all what this thread is about.

13. How long ago is it since England were beaten by Nothern Ireland? As usual, the media are getting carried away I reckon. Come on Ecuador!
14. Possible. But to counter this argument, both Portly Freddie and, what's more importantly, Anal Oliver (in Mag 201) have told us that we would be surprised at the people who applied for the job. If the common perception is that Freddie is a 'problem chairman' then surely so many 'good' people would not have applied. Then again, it was only Freddie and Anal who told us, so maybe their comments aren't to be taken that seriously???? Persish the thought 139349 Last time alone Souness was about the 6th choice or so wasn't he? 139350 Oliver is like Grima Wormtongue, he will say whatever his master wants him to to make him look better. Does anyone seriously think we woulf have chosen Roeder if a better option was available? Now, if Roeder has a bad start to the season, which is well possible, what happens then? Shearer is well short of his license, but I suppose Shepherd will be threatening to beat up anyone who is against giving him special dispensation as well.
15. if we signed ALL those players, there wouldn't be much point keeping Shola. "9" should go to Kuyt if we get him... or maybe he has a weird fetish with #7 139335 Agreed, it would be like buying a Ferrari and an Aston Martin and keeping the Fiesta. 139337 Handy for trips to the supermarket though.
16. Does anyone think these players are going to sign? Has there been some secret buyout or money tree found that I'm unaware of? I'm not sure about giving the shirt to Owen either, as he probably won't play enough to warrant it. I'm hoping we sell him anyway.
17. Did he say anything about Douglas Hall? 139278 I suppose you need to do something to gain a reputation. Good or bad. 139280 Hall's done plenty to earn a reputation. This is exactly what I fear is the case - why else for instance did O'Neill turn us down? We should be a very attractive prospect but we are not for some reason. Leazes of course will be having none of it.....
18. Shepherd has absolutely no class whatsoever. Federation Against Copyright Theft.

21. I would just like to say LM that generally I respect your view (I rarely agree with it but I respect it) but frankly its comments like this that make me think you're a cock and a wind up merchant. Either you are Fatty Freddy or hes sucking you off because nobody could love a bloke as much as you do him. The fact that whenever somebody disagrees with you and you dont have a comeback other than "top 5 in the country" or "Souness was a twat" then you resort to calling them names means that frankly your views are irrelevant to most of the people on here. Wullie made a perfectly valid well structured point but because it didnt match yours and you werent bright enough to counter it other than with "stockphrase #3" (which you'd already used) then you resort to saying hes "fucking clueless" which if I remember rightly is "stockphrase #21" *Counts fingers....Chelsea, ManUre, Arse, Liverpool..... unless we're using the Shepherd shirt pricing method I make that 4 clubs (matching nicely your usual argument that we are the 5th biggest club in the country). *Expects to see LM reply, log off, nip next door and log on as Footsoldier so he can back himself up. 139183 comment aimed primarily at Wullie and his posts on NO. As you know if I say that over there, him being one of a few other bairns, will ban me for it. I'm not interested in what he says, because I do think he's clueless.. 139237 Whether you agree with him or not, I would say Wullie is a thoughtful intelligent poster. Trouble is Leazes, you think anyone who disagrees with you is clueless. Debating with you is becoming increasingly pointless.
22. Never heard of that expression like. Can you name any other chairman who has made a remark as idiotic as this lately, out of interest?
23. Why do you think he should treat his club's reputation, and yours too, like a piece of dogshit. He's a fucking clown and makes everyone laugh at us. 138964 I'm not bothered, but I think those who booed at that testimonial are clowns and made people laugh at us. 138973 What's wrong with booing him? I assume you'd have no problem booing Souness? I wanted rid of him, I want rid of Shepherd, why not let him know what I think about him? Granted, it's not the greatest place to do it, but when else do people get a chance to do it? Fact is Leazes, I sense most people want him to step down - you are very much in the minority on this one. Today's latest words, which as usual you blindly defend, is typical of the man who IS making us a laughing stock. I've lost count of the number of fans from other clubs that have commented on what a clown he is. His ridiculous attitude is ensuring decent managers will avoid us like the plague - there's now way on Earth I'd want to work with him. This club is going down the pan with him as our head and you just can't see it. 138980 I think booing him shows up all the supporters of the club. Its childish and stupid. And I never booed Souness, I never have booed anyone, because its childish and stupid. Ironic you say I "blindly defend" when I just knew others would "blindly attack". I think fans who boo, and expect a divine right to success, like stupid bastard manu fans, make all fans a laughing stock, like manu fans. I think a lot of people would like him to punch Barnwell on the nose because he deserves it. I would. The club is continuing to compete with the other major clubs and you just can't see it. [but you didn't say this when we were in the CL and bought Owen did you?] 138984 I'm not blindly attacking him. Look, me and you obviously don't always agree on things, but do I want to punch you? No, because I'm not a thug. So why is alright for FS to condone physical violence on someone who disagrees with him? It isn't - it makes him a thug. Furthermore, why bring it up yet again? What's wrong with the man, he's got his cheap option after all. You say we're competing, but considering our support and income we are not. And I certainly have never laughed at (genuine) ManU fans - how could I? Look at our record against them in recent years - it's appalling. Competing? Don't make me laugh. As for the divine right thing, ffs, name me any Newcastle fan who believes this.
24. Why do you think he should treat his club's reputation, and yours too, like a piece of dogshit.
