Shearer made him carry his cases then spent the entire holiday trying to drown Bellamy in the hotel pool is what I heard. 140882 Well i heard that Bellamy was in the pool to get his mobile which Shearer had thrown in there because Bellamy had spent the whole week sending Al offensive texts! 140890 Didn't Bellamy throw his mobile at Shearer, but it missed him and accidentally went up JJ's arse or something?

Some great stuff there. Nobby is 36! Choco you lying bastid.

Who's calling him a liar like? 140584 Brock..... renton..... 140603 Hadaway and shite.

His point was, iirc, would you rather sign Ronaldino, or build a whole team for £40M. And it's a good one, I reckon. Trophy signings get you nowhere and as a result we are brassic! 140568 I disagree, Owen is exactly the sort of player we should be looking to sign. Players like Amdy Faye, Andy O'Brien, James Milner, Basedas etc., etc. are the ones that get you nowhere and fritter away the money. 140576 We can't afford a team of superstars at the moment though, and one player does not make us a good team, especially one who rarely plays. I'm not advocating signing crap players, but players that work together as a team win you things (e.g. Porto under Mourinho). The snag is you need a decent manager, which is the bit we don't seem to bother about.....

Mr Beef Curtains himself tbh. 140529 I always thought Fat Fred and Souness would work well together, since one was a fat prick and the other other a great big twat! 140534 I thought Shepherd was an arsehole. Dougie Hall is the twat and Souness is a prick. 140541 No, Fred was the prick because he stuck up for Souness (the twat) in the Bellamy issue, and Bellamy was nothing more than a little arsehole! 140544 I think Bellamy is more of a prick on reflection. Shepherd is still an arsehole, Hall is a twat, and Souness is a cunt. And I've ran out of body parts for Oliver. 140546 I didn't know you and he were that close and had experimented so much together! 140548 To bring back the dolphin thread, Oliver is the blowhole (though can't think of a sweary word for it). But I've still got two vaginal synonyms, so Hall can be a prick, and Bellamy is merely a tit.

I've enjoyed watching you back-pedal since then. 140445 I haven't back-pedalled you monkey-hanging pleb! 140536 Yes you have. The ironic thing is, Wullie has probably been more right than any of us, by sticking to the simple rule of being the most negative! I'm the runner up.

I now we can't say cunt, but what else is acceptable? Is twat OK? Oops.
-
Shepherd's the biggest front bottom for employing the twat though.

Lots of money for Souness to waste.

If he's worth that, what are other players worth?

Naah, he was still talking shite. With regards these rumours, they just sound like hearsay and as has been said, why haven't they been mentionaed by Bellamy or Robert? As far as I was aware, Robert and Shearer were friends off the pitch, and their kids went to school together. Still, Shearer bashing is a popular sport nowadays. Can't wait 'til we're better next year because the cancer's gone..... 140458 I would say the OTT hero-worshipping of Shearer is a far more popular pastime in these climes. 140470 Both problematic, I agree. Hero-worshipping has caused an OTT negative reaction in some people, and I can see why to some extent. Sporting ambassador? Fuck right off.
-
Well, we will see. As I've said umpteen times, his persona off the pitch and media is completely different to on it. I reckon he could do a job. Just wish it was now rather than hanging around waiting for it.

Perhaps Shearer has threatened to KILL them if they let out the truth, and they are bricking it.

The first thing mentioned, the Casino, is obviouslt bullshit, because it depends on a government review. Therefore I would treat the rest of it with a bit of skepticism. Complete bullshit in other words. As an aside, I'm not sure a casino would be good for the city.

Robbie Keane at the time was being rumoured to have been available for around 6 million? 140192 The same Robbie Keane who said he didn't want to leave Spurs, after being linked with about 5 different clubs? I honestly can't believe people are pissed off by the fact we signed one of the best strikers in England. If we sign Ruud, and he misses a couple of games, people will claim it's because he's still a red at heart. 140199 Renton is possibly pissed off about it however I have not stated I am. However I do believe and have said since he signed that the money spent on Owen and Luque could have been spent far more wisely. 27 million or whatever it was on two players when we have so many flaws in other areas was a ridiculous amount to spend. 140205 If Luque had played to his ability like he managed in Spain, and Owen stayed fit, they would have been quality value tbh. 140209 If, buts and maybes. Even if they had been quality which I know they both "can" be, other areas of the team would still be very poor. 140213 Hindsight... 140221 Hindsight? Knowing that other areas of the team need strengthened? Hardly, hence the reason I have been saying since we splashed the money on them. 140228 Not particularly addressing it at you Ritchie. Most people on here knew that we needed to strengthen other areas, but apart from Wullie, I don't remember people moaning about Owen when we signed him. To be honest, if we hadn't appointed Souness, we'd still have had Bellamy, so we wouldn't have bought Owen. We'd then have more money to purchase other players for different areas of the team. As you said though, ifs, buts and maybes. 140245 I was glad we signed Owen at the time, because I was convinced we needed more goals just to stave off relegation, which tbf was a reasonable concern under Souness. However, I would have much preferred getting Souness replaced instead. And with hindsight, I think Owen may have been a mistake, especially if we transfer him for less than we bought him for. That would add up to far more than a million pound a goal we would have spent. Nobody can seriously argue that is value for money, and its effects will be felt in the future. There is nothing wrong with using hindsight btw, not if you learn from it. And we all use it, whatever LM might say. It's useful to have some foresight too though.

Roeder faces battle with Liverpool to land Kuyt
Renton replied to Scottish Mag's topic in Newcastle Forum
I can't see us getting any major signings this season, we simply can't afford it after a series of disastrous transfers, from which we are unlikely to recoup much money. Of course the board aren't going to admit that ever, and certainly not while STs are up for renewal. I fear Roeder may be a fall guy in all this - he has an almost impossible job, and frankly hasn't shown he is equipped to do it. 140179 Harsh! He's only had the job a fortnight man! Although I do think the "waiting til after the World Cup" talk is code for "We're absolutely brassic." 140182 So I'm just saying what you're thinking. About Roeder, OK, fair enough, it is harsh, but I do tend to judge managers over the longer term, including previous jobs. It's unlikely he will have suddenly become a top-class manager, but not impossible, and I hope he proves my doubts wrong. I like the guy, so hope he succeeds for his sake as well as the clubs. But as we know, the next year NUFC financial report is not looking good. I fear Roeder will be severely handicapped in the transfer market, which doesn't help him. -
Could it be that hard finding someone who could score more than 7 goals in a season? Besides, Roeder demonstrated it's how you use your players that counts, we could have managed without him. But give a top class manager that kind of money, and I think he may come up with better value for money than Owen.
-
Fair comment Gemmill, and that bit in bold is a perfect summary. I know in this day and age players are usually mercenaries, but I just think Owen hasn't made the effort tbh. And I find this especially sickening because of the vast amounts of money we are paying him.

Be interesting if they bid the alleged £12million to trigger the release clause. 140120 How much did we pay for him again? Is this another master stroke by Shepherd? FFS, sell him and spend the money on someone that can be arsed to play for us. 140156 He did break his foot tbf, misery-guts. 140158 And then stopped playing because he felt a twinge, later admitting he had been fine for two months. I admit I personally don't like Owen, and never have, because imo he has no passion, and doesn't understand what it's like to be a fan of the game, not being one himself. Also, even when he was at Liverpool he was primarily interested in the National team, and I think he doesn't give a shit about NUFC. However, forget all that, I just don't think it makes any sense from a football point of view to retain him, as he is too injury prone. We need players who are going to be available, not players like Owen and Dyer. If it is true he has a get-out clause then that is really bad business in my book, especially if it is for 5 million less than we paid for him. I think it's fairly obvious that the acquisition of Owen was primarily to boost ST sales, which were floundering at the time. Another short-term ploy by Shepherd, that ultimately is counterproductive to our success. Now it's no fault of Owen, obviously, but he actually saved Souness from the chop much sooner. How much better would it have been if we had invested some of that money on a decent manager at the start of the summer, with a bit left over to spend on players (actually a lot left over if you also take into account Luque)? Somple fact is, under Shepherd we are pissing our money away, and shortly our accounts are going to confirm this once and for all.
