  1. Yep. Loads of people were just in the (30 mins faster from Manchester or Leeds camp) but it would have revolutionised transport across the country to Birmingham as well (time and capacity). Oh well. even if it had gone ahead I guess I would have been retired before it came into service, so I say fuck the younger generation (not really).
  2. Honestly mate, as much as we all love him, I wouldn't listen to a word he says about cooking, let alone medical things. Sorry to hear this like. Ears are canny delicate and can get fucked up by infections and the like. I once flew back from the states and got off the plane to find I had lost my sense of balance. Was really distressing, it was like being very drunk most the time, and this lasted several months before resolving itself. You may get better just with more time. Otherwise you may need a hearing aid to match your geps.
  3. I had a colleague who got his dream job as a GP in the Cayman islands in the mid 2000s. Moved his family there, then Hurricane Ivan struck, scoured the islands of nearly all habitation. Came back to the UK a month later. Mind, the 99 mph recorded at Alnwick moor last night puts it in the range of a category 2 hurricane. I guess this was a gust and not sustained wind though.
  4. I'm going to have to use these for windy nights like these. It's part the noise but part the anxiety it brings. I'm within earshot of the sea and a park with trees (two of which are very much threatening to fall on my house but the council will do fuck all). The record UK winds were in Northumberland again yesterday (99 mph), however, unlike Arwen when I woke up to see a few houses no longer had roofs, didn't see any significant damage this morning. Without a doubt in my mind we are witnessing the effects of climate change, never used to have this many storms of this severity.
  5. Is knackered a mood? The noise from Isha was unbelievable last night, peaking at 2 to 3. Was like being in a tornado for 4 hours. Fucking hate wind like this.
  6. Saltburn on prime is well worth a watch. That dopey lad from The banshees of Inishirin is the protagonist. Some very uncomfortable viewing. I wish I was born a toff.
  7. Had a spare hour this afternoon so I sat down to watch "American Nightmare" on Netflix. It's a mini docuseries about a kidnapping in California. Ended up watching all 3 episodes and being pissed off with the ending. America is strange.
  8. Older you get, the more that equation shifts to NO unfortunately. Still, if you can manage a Chinese takeaway you can't be too bad.
  9. @Alex is your man in Greece (before kids mind, so maybe some of those roads have been tarmacked by now).
  10. Alright then, to put it another way this is the longest the club has been Keeganless since 1982.
  11. 15 years later.... Sombreing to think more time has elapsed now since the second managerial coming of Keegan than the time between the first or second, or the time between him being a player and a manager of course.
  12. I'd feel more comfortable about us losing the ability to manufacture virgin steel if we were part of a pan-european union rather than an isolated Billy no mates island mind. Net zero set by country is bollocks too. Importing high quality steel will clearly have a worse effect than if we made our own. Net zero should be measured as much on consumption as production.
  13. I thought he had fucked it up by being too cocky, but getting that shield and only sharing the fact with Molly, who fancies him, was a stroke of genius. Well played you treacherous cunt.
  14. Fuck me, they were going to farm this kid out to join his brother at Real Madrid for 50 million a few weeks ago.
  15. Another bizarre "imagine" story, this time a several page thread about getting upset over some imaginary stickers on seats? When did the Stadium of Light merge with Cherry Knowles?
  16. Constant lies and gaslighting. Blame the doctors, righto. It works for some older people. Problem the Tories have is now less than 10% of people <50 years old will vote for them, and I just can't see that shifting. Basically, if you are working and/or have a young family, the Tories can get fucked. This amazing statistic tells me: 1) Tories are fucked generationally and over the long term. 2) A large proportion of retired people must be utter thundercunts to make up some of this deficit.
  17. Aye. I'd hope this was the jug eared gnome cunt's Brown moment, but I won't hold my breath.
  18. Definitely a southern and older person thing I reckon. When the queen was about to kick the bucket, I was in the office and everyone participated in a sweepstake.
  19. You think that's bad? Take a look at the state of William, walking just behind her here.
  20. The population of Sunderland during the English civil war was <1500. By contrast, the population of Newcastle during medieval times was about the 4th largest in the UK for most that time.
