I spent 5 years there as a student during the Thatcher/Major years when the place was an absolute dump. And so was Newcastle. Both cities were stereotyped and looked down on more than other northern cities. Both had a stronger regional identity than other northern cities imo. There was a definite affinity between the cities. And still is imo. So yeah, I will defend the city agonst lazy caricaturing usually propogated by southern wankers, because I recognise it happening to Newcastle too. That definitely doesn't extend to the clubs now though. Fuck LFC.

Chelsea aren't great, Villa and Forest both fallen away. Can't see Spurs turning it around as much. I think there's 2 places up for grabs and I wouldn't rule us out completely just yet.
