My thoughts entirely. Looks like Israel are going to fuck up the Eurovision song contest this year too, and apart their regime being undeniably genocidal, they're not even European.

And then sitting down and shitting on her seat. [\imagine].
-
Then ripped open her dress, revealing a Sunderland top with "Spread Ex" on it, to rapturous applause rippling right through the arena.
-
Okay, scratch out for Stephen Taylor then.

This happened.

Who would win in a mackem hate watch match? Alan Shearer vs Sam Fender vs Dawn Thewlis?
-
Aye, you're right about it being the Percy. Pool table in a front room and lounge in the back. Happiest memory there, my newly married wife was dragging me off to do some shopping in Newcastle, I had a massive hangover. Anyway, we passed the Percy and it had Newcastle against Spurs beginning on some hooky channel so she agreed we could watch it instead. Couple of mender beers later and we stuffed them 7-1. Been frequently stuffing them ever since.

John Bolton indicted. Authoritarian playbook in action again. Everybody's distracted by the orange turds international actions but the stuff he is doing domestically is terrifying.

Sam Fender wins Mercury award in Newcastle first time it's held outside London. Mackem fewm ensuing. It's a fix. He's shit. Something about tax payers' money. Dawn Thewlis.... Absolute nutters.

Aye, fucking mad on bank holiday Mondays though. Obviously I was more Tynemouth. Cumberland, Sovereign (RIP), Sal, Baxters, Stuffed Dog and fuck me I cant remember the name of what the Priory used to be. I worked at a nightclub called Mercedes which hilariously (not) had a sister pub called "Benz". The things I saw there man, grim. Proper violence.

Aye, I would have been between 16 and 20 in my Avenue years. Loved it, part of a proper gang. The pubs on the esplanade were the place to go for truly underage drinking though, the Olive Grove would serve you in a stroller. The Avenue got taken over by some chain and went to shit rapidly like the Barley Mow did (which was categorically the greatest pub in the history of the Universe in the late 80s). The BM is now a burnt out wreck still after 20 years, whereas the Avenue was demolished for townhouses. Shame.

Here's the PP deck referred to. Swedish versus British Nightclubs | PPS https://share.google/8BsplDDZU0apUZChC

The Ship is Dirty Habits now. Never been in like. Never go the Av (Avenue)?

Long shot, did anyone ever go to Surfers in Tynemouth? Saturday nights there man, that was the peak of existence. Literally a 100 metres from my parents and where I live now. Sadly, burnt to the ground in 96 when the plaza went up in flames.

When I first started going out, there were basically two types of people. First was casuals who like sheep bought all the latest clobber and went to half the places described here, and nightclubs like the Studio or Tux.or other meat markets. Casuals tended to have jobs or at least YTS. I recall turquoise shirts were a thing at one stage followed by striped shirts. Inexplicably many had taches and perms too, and wore deck shoes. Songs of love by Divine comedy sums it up. Then there were alternatives who were sheep in their own right. Typically students or in some way connected to the Uni/poly. This was me of course. My hangouts were the Trent, Barley Mow, Egypt cottage, Dog and Parrot, Broken doll, Trillians, Riverside and Mayfair. Although I dabbled a bit on the casual side at times too.

Old Orleans was part of the development of the bus station. As Alex said its called the junction now. Isn't that the site where Farmers was also? Or that might have been further down. Massive downgrade anyway.
-
Maybe they have bigger overheads though, dunno. There's only so much custom and I'd like to see it focused on permanent city centre venues, not what are almost pop ups. For the same reason, I'd love to nuke the metro centre.

It's got some longevity mind, I'll give ut that. I went there with my second ever girl friend on a first date, fucking 39 years ago!
-
Fucking hell, that's that then, no new ground. Today was bad enough now this.

Just looking at rightmove there out of curiosity, amazed to see this much property you can get for this price. Other side like but if I had the money Id take a punt on this area. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/87079770

I really hope the existing footprint is used as park land personally, including a thoroughfare to the ground. Imagine Leazes terrace facing a victoriana style park rather than the brutality of the east stand. Westward facing too. Are there any properties for sale there? Would go up massively in value.

Sorry, but

Fuck off. There's nothing worse than a relatively young person claiming to be old. I went to stack once, about a year ago with my old work on a non-match Friday. We were given gift cards to spend. Got a brackburger which was nice but yeah, fucking hell, just didn't get the appeal at all. I mean you're literally sitting or standing in a space surrounded by cargo containers. The council shouldn't give permission to this type of development imo. The one at SJP might be the exception cos it's a fan zone, but no more.

Aye, they just didn't want to say it until they had to. Am not saying the strategy is correct but they clearly thought until now the benefits of saying nowt outweighed pissing people like us off. Now their calculus has shifted. Should they have gone sooner? Probably, but who knows.
