  1. That's a stone-cold classic, I love it. Proper hairs standing up on the back of your neck tune. Still got it vinyl somewhere and it's on the Soma 2002 10-year anniversary compilation too. Also on that was Eterna (also by Slam) which I think was the also first ever single on Soma. It's another brilliant tune from back in the day. Good DJs too. Edit:
  2. His (one and only) outstanding attribute is his pace but his movement is absolutely abysmal. One goal in a canny few appearances doesn't exactly suggest he's an undiscovered striker either. @@Phil He was 22 when we signed him (he hadn't just turned 22 either) and he got plenty games when he first arrrived in the first half of that season - 18 league starts and without checking I would imagine most of those were before January. The crack was he was a 'Pardew signing' which would make sense given how persevered with him. He'll never be good enough as long as he's got a hole in arse and no amount of loan spells would've altered that. Pardew bringing him 'back into the fold' is an absolute joke.
  3. Nice cover version that I like it though (love the original). Boddika is canny too. I really like Deepchord who are a smiliar-ish vibe. They're like an even dubbier version of Basic Channel. They did a really good album called Sommer which was on the Soma label (the deep house / techno label synonomous with top tunes which Slam set up years ago). Soma's a bit like Warp in that the label is a bit patchy now but back in the day you could virtually guarantee whatever came out on it would be shit-hot. Still get some excellent releases on it though, as Sommer demonstrates.
  4. I prefer his older stuff like, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he was taking the piss with most of that recent stuff. It sounds like he is.

    Art

Considering Fish likes Jack Vettriano he's got a cheek. Also, RobW, you dirty old fucker.
  6. The same lad (on another forum) who introduced me to The Room was going on about the trailers for Sharknado
  7. I heard RobW's had ebola before. Twice.
  8. Ken conspicuous by his absence in this thread

    Golf

That's up there with your 'dab don't wipe' dictum.
  10. It's always a good ploy if you want to sell a player to speak out in the press about how unprofessional he is. Reminds me of the genius hand Souness and Shepherd played when we got about 1/4 of what Bellamy was worth (that's not a direct comparison between the two players btw).
  11. Haven't seen that before Superb. We should keep posting stuff this in here just to annoy the cineastes.
  12. Something off the album to whet your appetite:
  13. We should start this one again sometime and do a full Monty Python / Leazes Mag mash-up.
  14. You see I've checked it out, heard those and thought 'meh'. No is generic deep house and Lyk U Use 2 is lightweight drum and bass. Not shite or anything but I feel a bit like it's a joke someone hasn't let me in on when people rave about how good he is.
  15. Never been able to understand the hype about him myself.
  16. Parky, you've probably heard of Lone who did Galaxy Garden and has just released another album on R&S but I think his earlier effort Emerald Fantasy Tracks (from 2010) is class. It's got a bit of retro feel to it and manages to somehow sound a bit like Boards of Canada, early 808 State and Jupiter Jazz-era Underground Resistance all at the same time.
  17. If you look at the Cold War and before, which is specifically what the blog I was on about talks about, they were kept busy by largely investigating what turned out to be little more than their own paranoid delusions. They managed to successfully convince their superiors of these delusions in some cases and when they were unable to do so, made the assumption that their superiors (in government and in the agency) were themselves working for the enemy. Their incompetence was demonstrated by a number of spies being discovered by accident or due to their own actions, but not by anything MI5 did (I mistakely cited MI6 earlier). It's also noteworthy that several of them released memoirs later which alluded to these superiors being probably Russian agents (after they were conveniently no longer alive and able to defend themselves) but didn't wax lyrical about how they cleverly manipulated spies rather than unveiling them (to the best of my knowledge), which they could've done without revealing names and too many details. Anyway, here's a link to the piece, if you're interested: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/adamcurtis/posts/BUGGER
  18. I'm guessing it would be in their interests since it would justified their existence. And plenty of spies have been caught, it's just MI6 weren't directly responsible for that. I suspect there's a straightforward explanation, i.e. they're a bunch of incompetent ex-public school boys.

    Sir Bobby

You still involved with Heaton Stannington, Gene?
  20. I don't think there's anything unclear in what I've stated so far. You've made several claims and (beyond the incredibly obvious stuff, which didn't need pointing out anyway) you've been unable to back those claims up when asked to do so. You're now attempting to words in my mouth. If there's anything I've stated which you disagree with then by all means call me out on them and we can discuss that. And in answer to your question, 'no'. It's a daft question though, there's not a group of neighbouring countries / ethnic groups / tribes in the world that don't have a history of conflict. Until relatively recently though, the Arabs were the least of the Jews problems.
  21. That question doesn't even make sense in relation to what I've already posted unless you think the 19th century refers to years starting in 19 rather than 18.
  22. Thanks for clearing that up, Steve. I've learnt a lot.
