Even yesterday we did break them down enough to hit the woodwork three times was it? And get 4 shots on target (which the ones hitting the woodwork won’t have counted as). That’s with Willock and Big Joe missing against as negative a display as you’ll see. I do agree we’ve struggled a little bit with sides that have come for a point but we did more than enough to win the game.

I said when I saw the line up they were trying to stay in it and pinch a point. It could’ve worked at the death but they deserved to lose with those tactics / that performance, let alone draw. They’re now relying on beating West Ham and Everton failing to beat Bournemouth at home. Smith was such a strange appointment for them as well.

Nice to have done it with a game to spare. It’s going to be a very interesting summer now we can offer any potential additions Champions League football. Once we beat Brighton and Liverpool dropped points it was a virtual certainty but I’m not sure I quite believed it. It’s barely sunken in this morning tbh. 18 months ago we were looking absolutely fucked and thinking about how long a season in the championship might set us back. Probably 3 seasons minimum and we’ve crashed into the elite in half that time anyway. I’m absolutely buzzing about the future

Well I actually really like my job. I’m quite lucky in that in able to get involved with quite a few different things and it’s quite interesting doing stuff close to the centre of government, even a Tory one But the attacks in the press etc definitely have had quite a negative impact on morale in general

Like I’ve said before Whitehall is a soft target for the government to blame their shortcomings on. Classic case in point is the pronouncements via papers like the Mail and the Express that remainer civil servants are to blame for things like Brexit not going well and not stopping the boats. Civil servants have to remain politically neutral in public so they can’t answer the charges against them. The current government are just bullies and cowards tbh. I caught about 30 seconds of the appalling Jeremy Vibe show this morning and some columnist was on there and claimed (unchallenged) that it’s known the civil service is pro remain and that’s the reason they’ve leaked this about Braverman’s attempts to avoid a speed awareness course. People believe it though. I mean who the fuck do they think appointed Simon Case?

It was my idea of hell tbh. And it fucking reeked of bother, as well as actually reeking. I just remembered I went once at about 12 noon with about 4 other other lads prior to a work Xmas dinner at the Swallow Hotel which you also accessed via the Newgate Street Shopping Centre. It looked even worse when it was empty. That would’ve been 1996-ish. Also just remembered this lad I went to school with telling me about how he decided to go and watch the cup final there when we got beat off Arsenal.
