Aye. I think it’s fuelled in part by Anita Dobson* being disingenuous about it because his job is on the line. But you’re right in that it still shows an ignorance of the rule. Which was interpreted absolutely correctly. *That’s one for the kids.

It’s quite an ambiguous statement anyway, so it’s not like repeating it several times clarified anything. I don’t know why he just didn’t say he thought they’d created enough to win. I don’t think that’s true and we shaded it in terms of xG. But he just comes across likes he’s trying to con people into thinking Spurs were hard done to. Feel a bit sorry for him as he seems alright but his style of play has seen him found out a bit.

It’s his latest grift. Our election periods aren’t fixed so he’s trying to engineer a campaign to call an election here. I don’t even think he knows what the aim is. Despite being wealthy beyond anyone’s dreams he’s bored with everything, hates just about everything and at the core of that is his own, putrefying sociopathic ego. A lot of humanity, unfortunately, deserves him though. Most, unfortunately, don’t

That’s the rule. It’s not a boundary until the ball either lands over the boundary or touches it. If the fielder is in contact with the ball and touches the boundary or steps over the boundary whilst fielding the ball or catching it, then it’s a boundary. So in this case he stopped the ball landing over the boundary, even though it’s apparently crossed the line. Applies whether it’s a four or a six. You can flick the ball back to another player too where the same rules apply. Obviously if you do it when the ball has already bounced inside the boundary you’re only preventing a four. If he’d flicked the ball back but had failed to catch it before it bounced inside the boundary, he’d still have prevented a six being scored. This sort of thing was virtually unheard of until fairly recently but the standard of fielding is incredible these days.

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER

Deeney seems to have carved out a bit of a media career for himself. Also seems to turn up on loads of those podcast clips you see where players relate ‘fascinating’ anecdotes from back in the day. I must have caught about 5 or so with him on and on every single one he’s had a fallout with and threatened to chin the manager / one of the coaches. Even allowing for BS maybe he was the issue a lot of the time? -
She was later though I think. Not that I particularly liked her, probably due to an aversion to the show in general. Although I do remember the lily pond catfight she had with Alexis / Joan Collins

Just realised I meant Lynda Carter! Wonder Woman not Krystle fucking Carrington

In an innocent ‘crush’, long before my balls dropped-type of way, I would’ve been into Secker, Linda Evans and Floella Benjamin at various stages in the late 70s / 80s.

You tried this one @Gemmill ? Got a nice retro feel to it as well 👍🏻

I just thought I’d chuck that killjoy spanner into the works. It felt like it was what your little brain teaser really needed it’s all fairly arbitrary anyway. Given Jesus was probably born a few years before 1 AD (King Herod died c. 4 BC). Fucking hell, I’m boring myself now.
-
Despite all the millennium 1999 stuff this century and millennium actually started 1st January 2001. The first year of AD or the Common Era was year ‘1’ not a year ‘0’. AD 1 came immediately after BC 1. Although obviously they were not regarded as that until later.

Also could be a bit of a history rewrite to make him look less of a rat. Especially since it went so deliciously badly for him at Man Utd

Could’ve probably gotten away with giving him it as there’s a good chance a young lad receiving a diary (a fucking diary in 2024 ) would never have opened it -

I quite like the break and the kids are still at school. The youngest two still believe in Santa, possibly for the last year. So it’s nice spending a bit of time with them and so on. Went for a few drinks with Tooj last night. Good chance to catch up. But despite having plenty leave left and there being cover I’m going into work. I’m off later in the week but I just fancied going into work to do some of the stuff I never normally get the chance to do. But also to have a break from the eating and drinking. Like you I just get a bit bored of it all

You’re doing really well. It’s not fucking easy. It’s an addiction. Just keep at it. It’s worth it because you know there’s no real alternative. I think just about everyone who tries to give up suffers relapses. It’s such a readily available drug. It doesn’t detract from how well you’ve dove so far. It’s just a reminder it’s tough. Good luck. Literally everyone on here is rooting for you and respects your honesty.
