  1. I was thinking the same re: Thornberry. Those quotes are saved up to use against her. She was relatively close to Corbyn too so is tainted with that. I like her but she’s definitely ‘metropolitan liberal elite’ at least in terms of perception
  2. My first thought when I heard about it a while back was I bet the alleged perpetrators are rich
  3. She’s from Washington. They all speak posh, Dr Gloom for example
  4. Orla’s my favourite character. Proper space cadet
  5. Mark Lawrenson was canny when he was first on the telly and the radio. Good analysis and he could be genuinely funny before he turned into a miserable bastard. Danny Murphy never needed that transition period. Edit: great minds, eh? @Tom
  6. He’s terrible as a pundit back in the studio, but this time he’s a co-commentator where, to be fair to the lad, he somehow manages to be even fucking worse.
  7. He’ll probably just see that as an excuse to start outsourcing parts of the civil service
  8. Aye. And it never got a mention in the campaign. Not from the Tories anyway.
  9. Thing is, it was in the manifesto, so they’ve got the mandate for it. At lamest that will be the argument made. This is one of things they’re hoping to push through in the first 100 days. The ‘national emergency’ argument can easily be made after that. Especially with Brexit etc on the horizon.
  10. Aye, he was doing them before that as well
  11. Just look at the proposals by the new government to remove the fixed term parliament legislation and, more crucially, to remove the power from the judiciary to rule on the dissolution of Parliament with the power resting solely with the PM. I.e. he won’t even just be able to bypass the courts but also the Commons and the Lords. Worse still, it’ll happen with barely any mention
  12. Spa carrier bag for a school bag 😂
  13. Bet Colin’s full name is an anagram of Neil Warnock
  14. Doesn’t matter as what’s left of the UK will be a dictatorship soon anyway.
  15. Same people who think Corbyn and his manifesto weren’t amongst the biggest issues presumably
  16. People like that come across as bad as the tories in terms of it being like a game rather than it being about people’s lives
  17. I don’t see how you can draw that conclusion re: centrism based on polling day. There wasn’t a credible centrist option. I don’t really think it’s the answer but I’m not sure what is. Agree with you on Starmer. Although the gap is so great in terms of seats you’re probably looking at s hung Parliament at best next time. I’d take that if it means much needed electoral reform.
  18. She must have had a good bra. Proper Spaniel’s lugs
  19. Trying to outdo 50 Cent was never going to work out well
  20. He’s just another establishment type pretending to offer something to the man in the street. He wants someone with an unconventional backstory to work for him purely because it’ll look good. Edit: unconventional in terms of Whitehall that is
  21. JDT was signed to play as a number 10 behind Shearer. I’m not that convinced he was suited to the PL back then anyway though.
  22. That comparing us with last season not seeming like such a good idea now. And we had a really good second half to our season last time round. What’s Luke Edwards been saying lately?
  23. Special relationship right there. The real losers here will be ordinary Iraqis though
