  1. Saw the latter at Tribal Gathering. edit: Would've been just after Homework came out. They were class. Dave Angel was on just prior to them and it was before his shit 'techno funk' / hard house phase. He was absolutely brilliant.
  2. I've been in bigger dives and shadier places by far. Insular is probably a better way of describing it tbh. One dodgy venue that springs to mind was an Atomic Jam at the Marcus Garvey Centre in Nottingham. Proper scary in retrospect although I was too blitzed at the time to worry about it. Saw Colin Dale (and Ritchie Hawtin) there too as it happens.
  3. Being right all the time is the only thing that keeps me going
  4. Bloated was a monthly Techno night at the Riverside but aye, not a lot beyond that. I'd probably have liked Shindig if I didn't know any better (not a dig btw) but the atmosphere was a bit moody imo. Went about 4 or 5 times and got the same vibe. The Uni used to do some canny nights. Saw Colin Dale and Carl Cox on the same bill one time. The latter is class but the former is probably the best DJ I've ever seen (and was lucky enough to catch him on a few occasions).
  5. Comfortably one of the worst house clubs I've been to and I've been to loads. The Megadog used to organise stuff at my uni too and they were always really well done.
  6. Heard about that actually. There were some big acts played there early in their careers. Red Hot Chilli Peppers are another that spring to mind. Never thought Shindig was all that good like. Too many punters who thought they were cool because they'd stood in the same spot every week for the last x amount of years. Bloated was mint like. Saw Jeff Mills there, amongst others. Actually it's canny mad when you look at some of the acts that played at the likes of there, The Mayfair and the City Hall.
  7. It's not that simple though, is it? What did you / do you envisage the relationship as being? And why? And what are the tangible benefits? Don't really expect an answer because it's not something I would expect many people to be able to consider given the complex issues involved and none of what would definitely happen and the way Brexit would be handled was defined. That's why it's not something which I view as a particularly democratic process.
  8. About the same era I used to love Kung Fu with David Carradine
  9. Everybody has the right to be wrong. Quite apart from your views though, I think it was really undemocratic in many ways. Especially the fall out.
  10. Aye, we'll have a lot of influence over the establishment
  11. Must've been about 10,000 people in the Riverside that night for everybody who claims to have been there to have actually gone.
  12. The funniest thing about shit like this is people holding people to standards that literally nobody actually adheres to themselves.
  13. But he's won though. It's just a really fucking shit prize.
  14. You could give your reasons I suppose.
  15. Absolutely, it's proper bargain basement. Joselu is ok with decent technique and graft but he's never going to score many. I like Atsu but ideally he'd be an impact sub at best (and that's possibly as good as he'll ever be).
  16. He's a good player and I can't agree Atsu is much better but I wouldn't go out of my way to sign him either. There's nothing about his career (bar the aforementioned time here) which suggests he has (or will add) decent end product to his game. If we've got Ashley running the club then we probably shouldn't be blowing a large amount of our limited transfer funds on him. Likewise, If we get a sudden influx of cash from a new owner(s) then I think we can do better. I like him because he did well for us and tried his best to keep us up but we've moved on since then and he, if anything, has gone backwards. That's down to him and probably his agent who thought, in their wisdom, a move to Crystal Palace and working with Alan Pardew was the right career move.
  17. I'm a fan of his work but I especially like the childhood, nostalgic stuff like Dandelion Wine and Something Wicked This Way Comes and the setting for those is based on Waukegan so that's how I'd heard of it. Anyway, even allowing for sepia-tinted specs it must have gone downhill if you think it's potentially as bad as Sunderland
  18. The 6 months he spent here represents the only time in his career that Townsend's had much in the way of end product
  19. He's got a bit about him but he's canny overrated, not least by himself. Also, the ref was canny shite and bought most of the dives but even he cottoned on to Zaha. Think Palace deserved to lose just for the gamesmanship alone tbh
