  1. i had a big row with the wife on saturday. got drunk and kept having a go at her for not letting me smoke. everyone else we were out with was puffing away. it's still driving me nuts but only when i've had a drink.
  2. some worrying comments from hughton in that daily mail article. sounds like he's happy with his forwards. while it's encouraging to hear we're still in for ben arfa, we should really be chasing at least one new striker too. the less said about xisco making a comeback the better.
  3. i was more of a kick off 2 man meself
  4. that was a golden era of strikers for us like. in the space of a few seasons we went from pedro and cole to sir les, tino and shearer. i always wondered what cole and ferdinand might have been like as a front two, or how we'd have done if sir les was never sold and shearer didn't pick up that horrible injury that he never truly recovered from. he defintiely lost a yard of pace after that. shearer and ferdinand were class up front together. i didn't think two out and out number 9s would work but they were superb. didn't they both get 20 odd goals that season?

You're wrong but if you want to carry out the research then feel free. You're utterly wrong. What do people know about America? Fuck all. The Premiership alone will make many people aware of English places. Culturally we piss all over them. British music must account for 75% of the best songs ever made for example, even the yanks would admit that. where did you dig that stat from?
  6. i'd be looking to shift ryan taylor, barton, smith, xisco and ameobi. can't see us bringing in the 5 or more better players needed to replace them mind. in an ideal world we'll sign a new left back, a couple of decent strikers with pace and a couple of midfielders that can pass and take people on. ideally we will, for once, get the majority of our work doen before the last 24 hours of the transfer window.
  7. Come on then - spill the beans yeah, spit it out craig.
  8. quite a compelling argument on religion from pat condell
  9. has he really lost all his pace? he looked alright when i saw him play for the gooners last year
  10. that picture bring back just how big a dump sunderland is. i went to a funeral just outside the centre there a few years back. arrived a bit early, so suggested to my mate we grab a starbucks or something to kill a bit of time. ended up up walking for about 20 minutes. finally found a cafe and all they had was builder's tea, nescafe or warm pop (no ice). it was like walking back in time. it must be pretty horrible for the lads growing up in sunderland when they can see a lush city just up the road.
  11. religion? nah, i don't buy it. the idea of a god is too easy an answer to the universe's most complex and difficult questions

what happened to that lad - does he still post on here?
  13. i think it's sad that we're so starved of success that some resort to gloating about our attendences on other fans' message boards. makes some sections of our support look a bit pathetic really. we should be proud of our loyal support but you never won anything just because you have a big crowd. we are a big club but we can't bang on to spurs supporters about being bigger than them at the moment. a few years back when we were top 4 and they were struggling we had a case, now the roles have been reversed we should pipe down. You're another who should fuck off and support your local club. on what grounds? i was born in newcastle general and lived in the area until i was 17. does that mean i should stop supporting them now i live in london and start following crystal palace? in my view, you support the club you watch as a boy, or the one you inherit from your family. but a club is for life. once you start supporting a club, you're stuck with them. Is that where you live? Explains everything boring Thornton Heath, Croydon, Penge...no one should live there through choice. i live in dulwich. palace are my local club. didn't answer my question. do you really think i should drop newcastle just because i don't live there anymore? No you're entitled in the same way gurkas are entitled to live in the UK, but it explains how you're so out of touch.
  14. i stand corrected. was talking bollocks...alex was right for once
  15. didn't you lot just sign titus?
  16. We've already got more than enough anyway so it's not even a consideration. yes it is. how many of our english players would you actually want to keep? i wouldn't mind losing a few. and how many would ideally make it into a squad of 25? in an ideal world we'll sign a few more players before the window shuts and then it could be an issue. not saying that will happen mind Don't have to be English to be 'homegrown' do they? In any case even if they did how would a short-term solution solve that given there isn't likely to be wholesale changes at present. Or in other words, you're talking bollocks again. i was under the impression that we were limited to 8 english players now. we currently have 11 senior english players and some kids. i wouldn't mind if we shifted half of them and if we did, we'd be short of the minimum requirement.

  21. gives us another homegrown player to add to the 8 needed in the squad of 25
  22. imagine his team talks would go along the lines of "er, but er...."
