Could have left a legend. Departs a snake
-
wissa must be taking the number 9 shirt. love that sort of confidence
-
osula was also raw plus he's five years older than neave. £30m is mental money for osula. we'd be mad to turn it down. leaves us light of numbers up front. i guess eddie has faith in gordon and neave covering woldemade at CF when wissa is away at afcon. but of a punt. though with these sales we might have the psr headroom to get another striker in jan.

there are definitely reasons to be positive. The squad looks much stronger than last season and better equipped to cope with a CL campaign than two years ago. the Isak saga sadly overshadowed everything and forced us to delay many of our deals. Such a shame the club didn’t give Eddie the support to get the business done early. If all this had been sorted by late July/early August more of the new lads would have had a pre-season to get up to speed. Hope we don’t end up paying the price for our slow start but we can look ahead to the rest of the season with optimism now.

he did what was asked for in the opening post. he could have got his move and still left a legend - like Eze did at Palace - if he had acted the right way. Instead he departs like a snake. I wish him nothing but bad luck for his future

What a rage bait headline, designed for clicks and likes

I’m a greedy pig so bring it on

one thing isak and wissa have both demonstrated this summer is players hold all the power. clubs have little option but sell up if they down tools.
-
agreed. It’s the best possible outcome I think we were all hoping for. Disappointing that Liverpool and Isak’s shameful tactics worked but i’m glad Isak has gone and we have the best result. It’s just a shame we were unable to sell him to someone else for an extra £20m or so - and that it wasn’t all sorted before the start of the season. We have paid the price for not having a management structure all summer. Eddie and his nephew have performed miracles against that backdrop. But I wonder how much we will regret going three games into the new season without a striker. The dropped points - in games we should have won - could be massive.

wissa is the one i wanted from the players we were linked with. £55m is fucking mental for a 29 year old but hey ho. we basically traded wilson and isak for woltmade and wissa and a little change. time will tell if it's an upgrade. i think it is because wilson was done. isak and ekititke, which a month ago we all thought were going to be our two forward options this season, looks better on paper.

disappointing end to the saga. i expected the club to hold firm and negotiate something closer to the £150m they were looking for. ultimately, £130m plus whatever we clawed back by not paying Isak his loyalty bonus makes total sense from a business/PSR perspective. as far as howe is concerned, he no longer has to answer questions about isak. it had become a massive distraction. so i imagine he's relieved it's all over too. another bonus is the players don't have to welcome him back - i'm not sure how that would have gone tbh, or if isak would have ever really put his all in for the team again. personally, i'm glad the cunt has gone. shame it had to be to liverpool but i get why it happened. however, you have to concede that liverpool have played a blinder. they used their media pawns and controlled the narrative all summer, got the player for less than we wanted to sell him for and fucked our start to the season in the process. the bit that really stings - and that i think we're going to have to get used to it until the saudis are really willing or able to start flexing their muscle - is this: we are still a selling club when one of the big boys come in.

Straight out of the Isak playbook. But at least he thanked the fans and paid some respect to the club, unlike our number 14
-
Helicopters aside, are we getting close to Woltmade and Isak as our strikers for next season?

Downie reckons the German giant is going to wear the number 27 Must be a big Steven Taylor fan

He’s going to quite the reception if or when he ever returns to SJP
-
yeah, shame his career has been stop-start because he’s been brilliant in spells for us but last season was just a disaster for him. I thought he was a future England international after the season we finished 4th. He was instrumental.
-
What we really need is a late offer to come in and start a bidding war. Are there not any Saudi clubs that could do us a favour with that ffs?
-
then hope his knee explodes on debut

i agree but we have been poor sellers. i don't want to sell isak to liverpool but i also don't want him to stay. i think we fuck up future windows if we sign two strikers for the best part of £130m then keep hold of isak to prove a point. his value goes down and we can't spend as much on players to improve nufc. i don't give a shit about isak, only what is best for the club. shame there haven't been other clubs in for him as selling him abroad would be a nice way to fuck off the scousers but it's all about who blinks first now. we need to extract as much money from liverpool - and possiby isak and his agent - as possible. i would say to isak - submit a transfer request and you can leave for £135m. if he refuses and liverpool really want him, the should pay the asking price - even if some of it is made up in add ons. let the clock tick down until deadline day and we'll see how much liverpool want him.
