  1. Genuine question. This isn’t the week I’m finally getting the hang of this accountancy lark
  2. why structure it that way then? Is it not about bumping payments into the following financial year or something so there’s more headroom this window?
  3. I was reading somewhere that the fee is agreed but they’re negotiating over the structure. We want to spread the payments out over a few years to help with the PSR and they want more up front, for the same reason.
  4. The weather in Newcastle v London appears to be a hill Dougle is prepared to die on and I’m here for it
  5. Congratulations Dougle. You won the argument that matters
  6. if we can get those three in before or close to the start of pre-season, things are looking pretty decent all of a sudden. that would leave just a CF to go, plus possibly a new CM if one of willock or longstaff leave
  7. also says a price is close to being agreed with burnley for trafford
  8. came for the transfer speculation. stayed for the weather updates
  9. right, i can't believe you've dragged me down to this dougle, but here are the week ahead forecasts
  10. are you trying to prove or disprove my point, i'm not sure
  11. fuck me, arguing about the weather is a new low. when does the new season start again?
  12. you might not think it matters, but i imagine it does to some south american footballers. it can still feel like winter in april in newcastle and some players will be put off by that.
  13. it's not a myth at all. london is usually a good 5 degrees or so warmer than newcastle all year round. i've lived in both cities. i love newcastle and i still call it home despite not living there for almost 30 years. i was never arsed about the weather when i lived there but i'm always struck by how much cooler it is whenever i go home now.
  14. jenas said newcastle was a goldfish bowl. we mocked him for it, but there's something in it. it's a one city club and it must be impossible to go out as a footballer and not be mobbed by fans. some players (bruno etc) buy into it and love it. for others, it's probably off-putting. in london, no one looks up from their phone - forget about people saying hello or making eye contact, so it's probably a lot easier for a well-known footballer to move around like a "normal" person.
