We looked gash when Dubs replaced Pope last season and we lost Pope’s sweeping ability. The defence dropped back by 10-20 yards and a massive hole appeared between our defenders and midfield for teams to play through. That problem has been completely absent this time around and yet I don’t remember Dubs being called upon to sweep up at all. Perhaps it’s Tonali in at number six that has encouraged our defence to hold its line, or it could just be we haven’t played anyone good enough to play through us and get in behind during this run of victories. Pope is a much better shot stopper and sweeper keeper for me. Dubs is definitely better with his feet, but then who isn’t? Pope is probably the worst in the league with his feet. We could do with a keeper who combines both of their better attributes. Probably one for the summer window

He’s possibly not as press-resistant as Bruno in the number 6 role, but he brings other qualities - athleticism, a surprising turn of pace when making recovery runs, and I love how after winning the ball, his instinct is to always look for a forward pass. I love how he and Bruno passed and moved through Man U’s static midfield yesterday over and over again

Have to pay tribute to Sandro. It’s no coincidence that our turn in form coincided with him starting games at the base of our midfield. He’s been superb in every game, linking up superbly with Bruno and allowing him to play further forwards where he can provide that creative spark we have lacked, as he did once again yesterday against the Manc twats. This midfield is finally looking like we hoped it would. I don’t think I’d swap it for any other in the league tbh - is there a better midfield three pairing?

Goldbridge is such a chump

I mean, I agree. It’s more or less what I said. It won’t be as straightforward as playing on their preferred side but they should be capable of adapting. And while we will miss Schar’s technical ability on the ball, Kelly’s extra pace might prove useful if he has to make recovery runs against the likes of Son or Johnson

I’m a bit old school in this regard but i think too much is made of RCB and LCB. It’s still centre back. These are top players. They should be capable of performing the role to a high standard even if they’re not on their preferred foot for the usual angled balls from the back. Kelly also has a bit of pace, which the other CB options lack.
