  1. The prospect of Pardew with a one striker formation
  2. I read £8m for Cisse which is probably more likely from this lot. Which is a modest amount for most premier league clubs really. I hope we do sign another striker but I'm 80% confident that we won't and 90% confident that we won't sign an established good one. What I don't understand is those people adamant that we're actively looking for one still, given that we generally scout our bigger signings extensively and that we're not really linked with anyone of great pedigree - I'd be very shocked if they just pulled one out of the bag. I'd love to be wrong, but I think a lot of people on here are setting themselves up to be disappointed. Out of interest, if the windows does close without us getting another striker, how will people feel? Happy with what we've done still or will it turn to anger?
  3. How do you improve on some of the best attackers in the premier league? Lap it up!
  4. We paid average money for Cisse, because they'd skimped out that summer by only getting Ba. There was uproar when the Ba window shut because we didn't get another one in, we'd just limped to the end of the season with Shola and Kuqi. They skimped the summer before and got lucky that Carroll hit a patch of monster form before January. Then got lucky again, skimping on a free Ba who luckily hit the ground running. One of these times they'll skimp, this year maybe, and they won't get so lucky and we'll just get relegated.
  5. No, we're actively looking for a senior striker. The lads on here and the media that the club don't interact with whatsoever said.
  6. Na, it's the striker situation for me. The costliest players to buy, the position we've needed filling the most for a couple of years now, and the position we constantly skimp out out. We can buy all the flair midfielders in the world but with shite up front we'll be toothless.
  7. I'll be dragging up these striker quotes on September the 1st, you poor deluded fools
  8. So far so good? Again. No. I'm trying to point out the reality. The way that a handful of bargain basement replacements for outgoing players is enough to appease people and get them to start praising the club, after the mood towards the end of last season frustrates the life out of me. We've got the most fickle set of fans in the country, and I could understand if we'd obviously strengthened but we haven't and won't, because that's not what we do and we're openly unambitious.
  9. Remember, shop at Sports Direct, now expanding to Australasia!
  10. Christ, are people brainwashed?
  11. I think a relying on a set of question marks to fire in the goals is shabby, yes. I think Tiote/Anita is a weak partnership as well tbh. Sorry Fish but where's the noises that we're looking for another striker coming from? I think Pardew's quotes last night and the fact that this club doesn't pay for proven strikers is enough to say we won't. We're being told we boast some of the best forwards in the league That's our lot man. Do you know much about Janmaat. Van Gaal had him wing back for a game didn't he? I'm not sure he is more defensive.
  12. The papers will be struggling to get off the shelves today with the 75m suarez deal on the back pages, whilst the masses search frantically for information on that £6m 1in4 HITMAN that's gone to NUFC.
  13. Of course you compare him to Remy, he's replacing him in the team. You can bookmark this if you want because I'm telling you now we're not signing a better striker. Janmaat started the first two games for holland, then was dropped. I'm not dismissing him. I'm saying he's not an upgrade on Debuchy. The point I'm making is whether we're better off than how we started last season is so marginal that it's down to opinion, and for me the lack of a goalscorer makes us significantly worse off. It's the area of the team we've needed to strengthen for years but we've actually weakened it, again. You can clutch at straws that we'll sign a proven goalscorer but unless one inexplicably becomes free like Ba or Remy did (ridiculous good fortune) then it won't happen. People can get excited when we've actually made significant moves to strengthen and not just replace.
  14. Riviere - Remy De Jong - Cabaye Cabella - Ben Arfa Janmaat - Debuchy Perez - Shola People need to get their dicks out of their hands.
  15. http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20140716/pardew-we-can-threaten-the-best_2281670_4006357? Who does he think this lad is ffs
  16. Optimistic? His record's fucking shite, and we haven't a single senior striker that isn't injured/in seriously terrible form. On top of that, Pardew's making noises that that's our lot! Why would that make me optimistic. It's a fucking travesty, and given the extra TV money, the Cabaye/Debuchy money and the fact that they've spent fuck all for 18 months, it's looking like we're being sold seriously fucking short, yet again.
  17. You've been drinking, haven't you?
  18. "This is an important signing because the striking area is one we really had to improve." The "had to" part makes me feel uneasy!
  19. 11pm, NUFC confirm. Underwhelmed.
  20. Why use a 3 week time-frame, instead of an 18 month one?
  21. It effectively means the higher spending this year isn't because we're increasingly ambitious or extravagant, it's compensating for the lack of it last year. If you split HF's graph into 2 years blocks instead 1 year blocks, our spending is lower than the middle block.
