Newcastle line up move for another Chelsea talent alongside Armando Broja - The Guardian | NUFC blog – Newcastle United blog – NUFC Fixtures, News and Forum.
-
Chicken nonce was saying much the same, said that Everton are unlikely to sell a top young talent, and also said that if we fail with Diaby we might go back in for Harrison. I have to say Harrison seems just, or at least very close, as unlikely has Gordon from the selling clubs perspective.

Arsenal tried 'huge intervention' to hijack Bayer Leverkusen transfer as Newcastle watched | Football | Sport | Express.co.uk Leverkusen have signed this Adam Hlozek kid, and he looks like he could be a replacement for Diaby given the positions he can play, and the positions Diaby has occupied for Leverkusen during his time there. Maybe I'm wrong. Not like I'm an expert on Leverkusen.
-
Clutching at straws most likely, but perhaps this is a tactic from the club to try and make Leverkusen shift a little bit on their valuation of Diaby.

Newcastle United submit £35m bid for Everton star Gordon - Sources (footballinsider247.com) Not sure about paying 35m on this kid if this report holds any truth. Then again I'm not a football scout, and haven't been closely following his performances and stats. Conte supposedly wanted to do a double deal with Everton and bring Gordon along with Richarlison, so it seems people of reputable reputation in the game see something in Gordon.

https://www.nufcblog.co.uk/2022/07/06/toon-target-left-out-of-pre-season-tour-player-to-push-for-move-after-interest-from-newcastle-everton-and-west-ham-report/ If these reports from Albania are true about Broja, then we could see some movement on him earlier than expected. It would be ideal if we could get him on loan early, and put everything we have in going after Diaby.

PSG considering signing £43m star, Newcastle were interested - Romano (geordiebootboys.com) PSG have started talks for Scamacca. He'd be cheaper than DCL and most other decent options, unless we do get Broja on loan. But PSG can other more money and wages and are in the CL, so not much hope for us it would seem.
-
😂 He added another caveat by mentioning that if we get someone on loan it would free up money for Diaby. Basically he's done the same math we've done on us maybe getting Broja on loan.
-
😂 He is a complete tit but he's a decent coach to have seen Southampton to safety for the past few years, given how relatively tight they are with transfer funds, and just generally being a selling club. And then you just have to compare him to Merson etc.
-
Well if Ashworth and Howe think he's worth it and actually go for him, I'll trust their judgement over my own layman, in comparison, knowledge. And in fairness it's people like Thomas Tuchel, Hasenhüttl etc, i.e. people of a high caliber football knowledge wise who are praising him. It's not Paul Merson, Andy Gray, monkey hands Keys etc.
-
We could maybe get him on a loan with an obligation to buy. But in any case he'd surely get plenty of minutes as part of Howe trying to manage Wilson's time so that he isn't as plagued with injuries, and unfortunately Wilson likely will get injured for at least a handful of games regardless. Also I think I might be right in saying that he can play wide in a front three.

I didn't catch much of Southampton myself, but numerous people in football have spoken very highly of his potential as a center forward given all his physical attributes. He's supposed to be very quick for someone of his size and strength, and very good technically. Plus as I was saying the other day if you look at his appearances he only started 22 games, the rest of his apps were 15 minutes or so here and there, and I've read Southampton fans saying that the number chances for their forwards really dried up second half of the season. So I think it's a case of if you can sand off the rough edges, there's very likely a top level striker in there.

Newcastle transfer news: Magpies interested in loan deal for Chelsea striker Armando Broja | Transfer Centre News | Sky Sports Sky Sports now running with the Broja story. Getting him on an initial loan would be very handy in terms of covering that position while freeing up funds for someone like Diaby. I'd imagine Chelsea would be more than happy to see another years development before making a final decision.
-
If you compare his price to other mids it's fair enough. Nathan Redmond is 5.5m for example. As for Bruno he's a tricky one, because I think that was possibly a real purple patch for him in terms of scoring goals last season. Bruno may also be played in a less advanced position this season.
-
Five goals and five assists last season, so 6m is probably fair. There's probably a debate for 5.5m but it's a close call.
-
These are just what they've released so far. Botman and the rest of the squad will be added in the next week or so. The main site is still being updated for the new season.

Nick Pope GKP £5.0m Dan Burn DEF £4.5m Fabian Schar DEF £4.5m Matt Targett DEF £5.0m Kieran Trippier DEF £5.0m Joe Willock MID £5.0m Joelinton MID £6.0m Bruno Guimaraes MID £6.0m Allan Saint-Maximin MID £6.0m Chris Wood FWD £6.0m Callum Wilson FWD £7.5m FF has released some of the prices for next season. Was hoping that Wilson would be slightly cheaper given his long layoff, but his record when fit speaks for itself I suppose. ASM could be a fairly cheap enabler if he starts the season well, and he's back to being classified as a midfielder. I've no idea how interested people on here are in regard to FF, so enjoy or not 😂

Newcastle United: Journalist claims interest in Bayer Leverkusen winger | thisisfutbol.com Can't remember if this was posted about Diaby or not. Supposedly we do have concrete interest, and Leverkusen would be willing to take 40m initially and then take add ons to take it closer to 60m over the long term. There's other reports saying that we're confident that we'll beat West Ham to both Broja and Lingard. Lingard seems less likely than Broja given he's supposedly asking for ridiculous wages, but maybe that's not the case. You would think that Lingard would be a back up to Diaby, given I can't see how you'd fit both in when they'd both want to be starting. Although I suppose Lingard is capable of playing on the right of a midfield three. With regard to Lingard I don't get the best vibes off him. Reading between the lines he seems to be part of the party boy crowd in the young English players, and likely wasn't helping the terrible team spirit at Man U last season.

Target 'will sign' for Arsenal if fee agreed, 'genuine' Man Utd interest, while Newcastle 'could enter' - Football365 Supposedly Arsenal have been working on the deal for a year, and have already agreed personal terms with Tielemans, so if they put a bid that's acceptable to Leicester in, then he'll almost certainly sign for them. So as it stands other teams interest in him hinges on whether or not Arsenal decide to pull the trigger on a concrete bid. There's also conflicting reports as to whether Arsenal are still interested, or have taken a step back from the deal.
-
Just read that Tielemans is in the last 12 months of his contract, so we could possibly get him for closer to 30m than 50m or over.
-
Tielemans, Broja, Diaby would be a nice end to the window. Not sure about Tielemans like. His talent isn't in question of course, but he seemed to be agitating to leave Leicester, most likely because he thought that he was better than them, which in fairness you can't really argue, at least on last season's showing from them. If the aforementioned is the case then he likely wouldn't see us as anything more than a sideways move, so if he did come it would likely be mostly for the money. Plus I don't see how we could afford Tielemans plus a striker and wide right forward/winger. Perhaps if we could get Broja on loan, which Chelsea might be willing to do, and then structure the payments for Diaby and Tielemans.
-
In fairness he only had 22 starts, and the rest of his apps were 15 minutes here, 20 minutes there. Also, listening to some Southampton fans talking it's apparent that in the second half of the season their team in general were creating far fewer chances.

Looks like Ziyech is off to AC. He would have been a decent back up to someone like Diaby if he proves too expensive. I did read, don't know how true it is, that Chelsea were open to an initial loan with an obligation to buy for around 20m, so that would have been a decent deal given the restrictions of FFP. The only downside to Ziyech is that he turned 29 last March and we're trying to bring the squad age down. I know he didn't really do it for Chelsea, but Tuchel had him in and out of the side and he does look a player when he's on song. Maybe I'm giving him too much credit, but I believe that if he got a consistent run in the PL he could come somewhere close to matching his Eredivisie numbers.
