1. Aye a horrible mix-up involving Shepherd sending Milner to the shop to get him some pop, only to ring him two hours later to ask where his Sasparilla was and find him on the train to Aston Villa.
2. Pole position = Bent over, with a pole inserted. 189895 Same thing? 189900 Yeah.
3. I agree about Oliver. The thing that pisses me off is that all he's done all summer is use his back pages to rubbish rumours that the nationals has printed. "I can tell you that stories linking us with Sol Campbell are rubbish". Do you think that's your job, Oliver? How about you leave it up to us to decide what rumours to believe in the nationals while you work on telling us what IS going to happen at NUFC. Seriously, does that wanker think that all people want to read is him smugly rubbishing stories they've already disregarded themselves? I would write into the Chronicle about him if I didn't think the letter would be up on the notice board for everyone to laugh at, while the revered one goes on writing his shit.
4. Pole position = Bent over, with a pole inserted.
5. Haway let's see if we can piece together in advance the article that this knobsock will come up with today. Bear in mind that it'll have been pretty much dictated to him by Shepherd, so NOTHING is too ridiculous in terms of excuses for why we haven't signed who we should have. Come up with 5 things each and we'll play Alan Oliver Bingo later. My prediction: 1. The article will be heavily focussed on how "it shouldn't be forgotten" how we swooped for Duff and Martins. 2. There'll be mention of the excellent fee we got Duff for. 3. There'll be mention of Roeder and his frigging airmiles - by the way, I don't want to hear any sob stories from Roeder about that. I would LOVE to be flying around the place trying to sign players for Newcastle. If it's too much hassle for him, he knows where the door is. 4. There'll be an excuse made about their being a lack of quality players available at the minute. 5. He'll lay it on thick about how Shepherd and Roeder were both up really late, the poor bairns. Your turn.
6. I wish we had a game tomorrow tbh. People's pissed-off levels might have subsided by the time the Fulham game comes round. If we go behind or lose that game though, it'll all be stirred up again. If we go on a bad run now we could be back to the Shepherd Out chants outside the ground that were around at the end of Souness's reign. If so, I hope he takes heed and cocks off.
7. It would have made more sense to me than signing Sibierski.
8. Aye same age as Campbell. Only he plays in completely the wrong position. Slow clap for Roeder.
9. He's right that this was a move that didn't set the pulses racing. But I don't think any of us even wanted that. Just some sensible moves which provided cover in the areas that we need it in would have made sense - Jesus even if we'd bought someone of Sibierski's level who is a defender or an attacker so we have warm bodies to bring in in those areas and I would have been able to shrug and say "well maybe that was all we could hope for". But we've just done nothing to address any of our problems.
10. Hasselbaink and Campbell both free. Trabelsi - was he free? These are the sort of players that your eyes should be lighting up at when they become available if you want to spend your £15m on two players. Hasselbaink and Campbell are pretty much as much as you could hope for in free transfers. But no, we didn't even want to know. I've lost a hell of a lot of faith in Roeder over all of this.
11. You ARE an accountant, aren't you Gem ? You ARE aware of how little money the club has, aren't you Gem ? You don't appear to be ... 189821 Yes I AM an accountant. And as an accountant I would have counted all the money and said to Roeder "Err Glenn, we've got £15m to spend. We need 6 players, you've said it yourself. Now are you absolutely certain that you want to spend all of that on two players?" Are you getting this yet? You have gone into TOTAL SPASTIC mode as far as I can see.
12. possibly not, but with a smalll squad, and having already shelled out 15-16m quid. Thats the point. 189826 That's exactly the point ffs. With a small squad, we shouldn't have shelled out 15m quid on two players in the knowledge that it left us brassic. And before you blame Roeder, if he's too stupid to realise that, then it's up to Shepherd as his boss to point that out to him. Are you fucking getting this yet for christ's sake?? I can't believe you're harking back to Souness, Robert and Bellamy all of the while failing to accept the role that Shepherd has played in all of this. HE HAS PRESIDED OVER ALL OF THESE COCK-UPS. HELLO?? IS THIS GETTING THROUGH YOUR HEAD YET???
13. It just infuriates me that we keep our side of the bargain - buy our season tickets, sign up for the direct debits for cup games and all that malarkey, while they feed us lines about 5 or 6 players coming in. Then they totally let us down. Knowing what we know now, it was completely irresponsible to pay £10m for Martins with a week of the window left when we KNEW that that left us in a sell-before-you-buy position with one week to negotiate deals out and in. Yes, I was happy with the signing at the time but that's because I was being fed lies about 3 more players coming in. We didn't even have enough money for ONE more quality player, never mind 3. Arseholes.
14. Aye, I woke up this morning, picked my mobile up, looked at it through bleary eyes, saw I had no texts, mumbled "Fuck" and shut my eyes again.
15. The fact that we needed to sell Milner to be able to afford Viduka immediately makes the Martins move look like a massive blunder for a start. I hope he works out here, but if you have £15m to divide up between the 5 or 6 signings that you need, spending £10m on one and £5m on another......well you don't need to be a maths genius to see where we've gone wrong. But I am and I do.
16. I think it's a combination of the two, with both the manager and the chairman displaying healthy levels of each.
17. Just point out that as disappointed as we all are with Sibierski, he would walk into their starting 11. I honestly am SO not worried about having the piss taken by any mackems at the minute.
18. This was so obviously the result of an "anyone going spare?" phonecall. I bet you even as late as 7pm last night, Antoine Sibierski hadn't even been mentioned by either Shepherd or Roeder. We've just spunked whatever transfer fee he cost, and whatever wages he'll cost away for no reason. Although Willie McKay's probably pocketed a nice few quid, so it's not all bad.
19. LM, you're making yourself look like an idiot. Just fucking admit that Shepherd has presided over another shambles of a transfer window. Because he HAS, I'm sorry to have to break it to you. Blame who you want, but things keep going wrong with this man in charge. You really do look stupid when you carry on like this.
20. Goalkeepers Shay Given Stephen Alan Harper Defenders Stephen Carr Craig Moore Titus Malachi Bramble Peter Iain Ramage Steven Vincent Taylor Celestine Babayaro Midfielders Nolberto Solano Emre Belozoglu Kieron Courtney Dyer Damien Duff Charles N'Zogbia James Milner Scott Parker Nicholas Butt Matthew Joseph Pattison Alan O'Brien Antoine Sibierski Strikers Albert Luque Martos Obafemi Akinwunmi Martins Foluwashola Ameobi Giuseppe Rossi (until January) Look at the state of that. 21 outfield players - one of whom is on loan, one of whom is Albert Luque and one of whom is Antoine Sibierski. 6 defenders who've played at senior level. Two injuries and we're down to 4 from 4. Three injuries and we don't have a back 4. The strikers - I've excluded Owen because he's not getting a game this season. We're left with Luque, Shola - whose hip is fucked, Rossi until January, and Martins. Midfield - we've got a load of those fuckers, which is why we signed Sibierski last night presumably. "The transfer window doesn't close til the end of August. I know it's frustrating for the fans, but they have to trust us." "I'm confident we can bring in the players before the transfer window closes." "We are in pole position on several players. If we get them in before the end of the window, I'll be happy to go forward with this squad." The result - Antoine Sibierski, who at tea time yesterday I very much doubt had even entered Roeder's mind as a possible signing. Beyond shambolic. Never mind though, at least we can get the squad photo taken now. I would have hated to have had a squad photo without Sibierski on it. By the way, our players have got some horrific middle names.
21. The most fucking galling thing about the Sibierski signing is that it's so obviously been a last minute ring-around of a few agents to basically ask if "Anyone's going spare?". We don't need Antoine Sibierski, but the club have just decided to waste a few hundred thousand pounds in a transfer fee, and probably the best part of half a million quid in wages just so that they had signed SOMEBODY on the last day of the window. Seriously, we would have been better off signing nobody and keeping the cash. I'm fucking disgusted with Shepherd AND Roeder - sorry but they both take responsibility for this one. Roeder doesn't get off scot-free.
