1. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being "Over the moon", how happy are you with this years' performance? 3. For me, one would have been relegation and two, danger of relegation, we were shite, but not really in danger of relegation, so I'll say 3 - still pretty poor mind. 2. Your favourite performance of the season? The performances at home to Man U and Chelsea showed that we can work hard and we can battle - but that is frustrating because we don't do it enough. There wasn't anything where we dominated through silky skills though. 3. Worst performance? It has to be Birmingham at home in the FA Cup. I've never been so embarrassed, angry, humiliated, disgusted, ashamed. 4. Best goal? Martins' goal away at Spurs 5. Worst goal conceeded? Fuck. We've given away so many stupid, sloppy goals it's hard to think of one off the top of my head. 6. Best Player? Steven Taylor has come on leaps and bounds, also James Milner as well. 7. Worst player? Stephen Carr, Titus Bramble, Celestine Babayaro.... How many do you want? 8. Most improved player? Nicky Butt. Came back, head down and grafted. I think he would have made a better Captain than Parker. 9. Most disappointing player? Damien Duff and the Zog 10. If you could have one match to re-play again, which would it be? Alkmaar away, it was there for the taking, but stupidity, lack of bottle and perhaps arrogance meant we blew it. If I could, I'd have it replayed with a bit more passion and bottle. 11. What would you consider as our luckiest perfomance? Liverpool at Home. They came out of the traps flying and should have finished us off, but luckily for us, they went to sleep. 12. Realistic goals for next season? It's us, so anywhere in the League apart from the Top 4 is realistic! I'll settle for a European place. 13. Biggest suprise of the past season? Sibierski not being as shite as I thought he would be 14. Biggest disappointment? wimpering out the UEFA, being thrashed in the FA Cup, doing poorly in the league, take your pick 15. Which player do you see as making the biggest improvement next year? Andy Carroll, even if he ends up going on loan for the season, it should help to bring him on. 16. Which single (realistic) signing would you most like to see us make? Sol Campbell or maybe Sami Hyyppia even though he's knocking on a bit now could still do a good job at the back. We desperately need to overhaul the defence. 17. Which peripheral player do you see as breaking into the main team next season? Andy Carroll could get a few more games under his belt if he's not out on loan, I'd like to see more of Edgar as well. 18. Which player is most likely to leave? Luque 19. Your favourite (not necessarily the "best") player this year? Martins 20. What is the main area the team needs to improve to gain UEFA Cup Qualification next year? Defence, without question. Changes need to be made in other areas as well, but frankly out of the 'regular' defenders I wouldn't mind if we replaced all of them, apart from Taylor.

Go into the Local studies centre at the civic centre (formerly at the central library) and they have loads, although a lot are now on microfilm. I've been looking at papers back to 1898 for my dissertation, and I did some work experience there last year as part of my degree and I used to spend quite a bit of time going threw old papers. I read editions of a long-gone paper called the Newcastle Courant, detailing the war in Canada with the French in the 1860s, followed by trouble and rebellions in 'the colonies' in the 1770s. I've read papers in their going back to the 1600s, can't remember precisely, but they go as far back as the reign of Charles II. I find old newspapers amazing, I think they are probably the greatest windows on the past that we have available.

Bobby Moncur wants Big Sam to chin the players
Tom_NUFC replied to Smooth Operator's topic in Newcastle Forum
I don't think chinning them or being aggressive will get very far. Souness took the stubborn aggressive line. -
Cheeky Bastard, I went to Benfield and I got 2. Also some of the best criminal minds went to Benfield Believe the latter, not sure about the first Bob Aye, not quite the first. I'm a mature student, so people I was at school with have already been and got their degrees, as has my brother. There was some right toe-rags went to Benna though.

No, I've not actually, pretty much because there wasn't really room to include it, I only really touch on the 1990s/200s briefly.
