Well in view of the fact that we waited 22 years to reach a Cup Final, and neither Leeds, Birmingham, Villa, Everton, mackems, West Ham, Portsmouth, Sheffield Wednesday, Wolves and other big city clubs haven't reached one either since we reached one in 1998, nor qualified or competed in the Champions League or even the UEFA Cup, then comparatively speaking it makes us more successful on and off the field than them. And only Arsenal, Liverpool, Man U and Chelsea more successful. All the people who are slagging off the board STILL fail to answer this question, nor answer another one, if the club are so bad and are appointing "shit" managers, what do YOU think they should do that they are not to ensure more success in future ? I'm not holding my breath for a reply as it hasn't been supplied so far, and I don't mean you chocchip only you and PP and possibly Renton have gave anything resembling a half decent constructive reply so far 103702 He made it fairly clear he was looking for yes/no answers like. 103705 Thats my answer, it is there if you read it, and its a fucking damn sight better than the absolute crap you spouted about Souness for months 103707 All I can see is you skirting round the issue tp avoid having to give the only logical answer, which is a resounding NO to three of the appointments and a partial yes to one of them, in terms of the progress we made under Robson. So that's three unsuccessful appointments out of 4....oh dear. 103708 I've said they were comparitively successful. As there are only 2 trophies, why do you consider there are 18 premiership failures a season ? Now what criteria do you think the board should apply when choosing a manager, apart from foresight, in view of the outstanding CV Dalglish had in particular ? 103719 Unlike you I think it is perfectly acceptable to look at the performance of a manager and THEN judge whether or not it was a successful appointment. I get the impression that you think that unless it looked like a mistake on the day of the appointment, no one has any right to complain if it turns out to be a fucking shambles a year or two down the line. I agree and have posted elsewhere - Dalglish's CV looked perfect for the job, and you can probably cut Shepherd some slack with that one, but at the end of the day, it was an unsuccessful appointment, given where we were when he was appointed, and where we were when he left. The buck stops with Shepherd. 103720 But what can he do other than appoint people with a top CV like Dalglish?

Thanks for your input, you might have been less willing though if you'd have read this first! http://www.toontastic.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=4387 103679 Do you know me? Bit harsh if you don't, if you can be adult about it like. And there I was laughing at some of your posts thinking you had a sense of humour. Obviously I was wrong. -
Cue posts from the usual suspects who'll claim Owen has replaced Shearer, not Bellamy! 103491 Owen - Out and out goalscorer/striker Shearer - Out and out goalscorer/striker Bellamy - Support striker to an out and out goalscorer type You can tell me where I'm wrong and we can have a debate about it, or is it going to be a silly one-liner? I'm open to alternative opinions Craig, I know I may not be right but this is what I believe as I sit here right now. Convince me I'm wrong.

Pickle my brain? What are you on about now? What a stupid comment tbh. What's best for the club mate, as I always want. The day it's best for the club that Fred goes then I'll be all for it. 103447 Im saying it would pickle your brain because you seem to think that neither Bellamy or Fred can do no wrong (its not difficult to understand grandad ), I know you think that by keep bleating on about how you're right and everyone else is a nob to disagree then you think that one day they'll listen and bring back Bellers to a huge heroes welcome, there'll be tickertape parades and we'll all have street parties, just like we did for queenies jubilee. You see, I think Bellamys a good player and would benefit our team on the pitch but I also see you going on and on and on about him and think if any other manager had been the one to sell him then you'd not have opened your mouth. Well its not going to happen but it would be nice for once to see the likes of yourself actually accept a post in the way its meant not come back with the usual "what a stupid comment", or the other bollocks you use to reply when someone disagrees with you. I'll make it as straightforward as possible for you. Choice: Craig (lets have a wank hes scored another goal and I can use it against Souness) Bellamy or Fred (lets have a wank hes not said anything silly for a while) Shepherd. Which would it be? Oh and I'd prefer that you didnt spout the shite of "whatevers best for the club" because a year ago what this club needed was for everyone to get behind the team and manager, most people did it but you sure as hell didnt. So dont ever give us the whole "Im the perfect soopafan" shite. [/rant] 103449 Hilarious rant pudding, even for you. How ironic that you're having a terrible 2 after YOU banged on about MY brain being pickled. Your tantrum at me using this word 'nob' makes me laugh given your apparently acceptable use of the words 'nobjockey' and 'numpty' toward other people. You always were the king of the double-standard though. Here are some facts for you, tell me what it is you don't understand. 1. I don't think I'm always right. I do post what I believe to be correct, the same as you and everyone else does. Perhaps you're stupid enough to deliberabely post stuff you know to be wrong, but that would be your problem. 2. I make mistakes all the time, it's called being human. 3. I don't think everyone is a nob if they don't agree with me. That doesn't mean I don't think you're a numpty though, or nobjockey. 4. You think everyone who disagrees with you is a nobjockey or a numpty. 5. I think Bellamy and Fred do make mistakes. 6. My agitation at the loss of a top player is everything to do with how I feel about the club and nothing to do with what I think about Souness. He is a wanker regardless. I was just as pissed off when we let Robson, Waddle, Beardsley and Gascoigne go, and believe it or not, Souness wasn't manager then. Look it up if you don't believe me. Cheers

Fairly easy to see who are the KK bandwagon jumpers.

Why bother buying a ticket? Platforms are open, I'm sure you could explain to them how it's done, like. -
Hypothetically, Fred would say he was big enough to forgive and forget if apologies where issued all round. Was that not his stance regardless? 103429 Aye, PP doesn't seem to understand it though. And he babbles on about pickled brains.
-

Fair point again - I just feel that seeing it as a simple "the new manager wants him" and everythings rosy is a bit naive. Thats allowing for Shearer having left as well. 103417 It's from N-O, but it's how I heard it as well......... Bellamy Interview
-
You think Owen is going to stay then, Dan? 103391 yes. unless someone comes in with a stupid offer i think he'll stay. 103394 What's a stupid offer, Dan? ÂŁ16m?
-
No, I'm not Alex, I'm realistic enough to be happy enough with Fred not to rabbit on about replacing him all the time 101164 What's the relevance of Doug Ellis to NUFC? How much money do Villa make compared to us? Why don't you compare our spending to comparable clubs like Liverpool? I think you are beginning to sound obsessed on this one Leazes. Shepherd takes much more money out of the club than he should - this is something every expert accountant seems to agree on. He also reinvests money in buying players, but this is NOT HIS MONEY. It's the proceeds that he gets from fleecing the fans, something he openly admits to. Yet we put up with it because we love our club, it's that simple. Comparing Shepherd to chairmen of poorer clubs or NUFC chairmen from a bygone age proves nothing and certainly does not make up for Shepherds gross incompetence of the past few years which have cost us a fortune. 101170 end of discussion tbh. no point in trawling through the other pages after this post because it answers everything. 103399 For anyone who has a grasp of the big picture, the post doesn't answer much, tbh.
-
Aye, it was put before the better interests of the club. As I've said before, there's no room for sentiment. When it does creep in, the club goes backward.
-
Fair point but the best player at the club was and still is Shay Given - one of those who was pissed off by Bellamy's antics. (I know thats hearsay but no more so than other "evidence" quoted as fact by people) 103402 Over a period of about 18 months leading upto the departure of Bellamy, I'd say the best player at the club was Bellamy, followed by the likes of Woodgate, Robert, Speed, Solano and Shearer ( at that time ). Then Given.
-
Well I can't be bothered to search the archives, but plenty of people suddenly believed Bellamy was shit. When he was at Celtic, and before a firm offer was made, FS was quoted as saying whether Bellamy played for us again was down to the manager. That's how it should be anarl. FS won't veto it and it should have nowt to do with Shearer. If it has, then as I say, the sooner he fĂșcks off the better.

Well you better start getting some practice in 'cos there's a bloody load of nobs on here who won't want him back. They think he's shite ye knaa. Their hero Souness told them so. 103367 Theres also a nob (as you put it) called Shearer who really doesnt want him back here. 103388 But that 'nobs' career can now be counted in weeks and days whereas the best player we had at the Club had 7/8 years left in him. Why can't folk just for one moment think of NUFC WITHOUT Alan Shearer? 103392 Sooner the better tbh. Far too much influence.

-
Well he has to improove his reputation, man. There are people around who think he's shit because only Blackburn came in for him.
-
You're talking complete bollocks to be honest. Souness categorically told us all that Bellamy only gets 9 goals a season, so he can't possibly have scored 12. And you're also probably making up all the assists and wreaking havoc stuff because we all know that Bellamy was just a cancer who destroys football clubs and nothing else! Its embarassing that because of one fuckwitt manager we lost Bellamy, that we lost him for a joke of a fee and tha we lost him right when we seriously need strikers. Still, he sorted out the dressing room didn't he 103373 That's a good summation of Souness. Should give people pause for thought, doubt it will though.
-
Sorry mate, is that a joke? Owen is an out and out goalscorer like Sheaer, he's just not a big bloke. Bellamy plays a support role, they're completely different.
-
Don't worry about it, he'll be fine for the World Cup.
-
Err, aye. What's that got to do with this thread?
-
Shearers replacement is already at the club, he cost 16m quid from Real Madrid 103365 Aye. True enough.

Roberts is a good player, but we'd do better to tempt Bellamy to return.
