  1. Aye by all accounts Tonali was supposed to be box to box with tons of energy. Certainly saw evidence of it the little he did play. Surprisingly pacey too. Wonder what sort of state he'll be in after a year of not playing.
  2. The middle episodes dragged on a bit but the most recent one had a bit of a kick to it.
  3. Ummm. That happened way before PSR or any financial rules came into place. The only reason Chelsea and City have any success in the last 20 years is because you got wealthy owners that wanted to have some fun. Everything good on the pitch happened as a result of it. I don't blame you for it, it's just the modern game, and we're now hoping for the same thing. I also think PSR is protectionist bullshit. But it's not like money was not the most important thing in the game before that.
  4. I'm hopefull we'll see Hall become a very good player here once Howe is done with him. He's got great attributes, looks comfortable on the ball. He's not been great defensively when he's played, he does daft things sometimes and you can see that's why Eddie thinks he's not ready yet. But I agree that the reason he's not played more this season is tactical as has been described above. Not that we should be directly comparing ourselves to the top 4 at this stage, but Arsenal, Liverpool and City do drop to 3 at the back when the full backs bomb on. They may not be 3 CBs per say on the team sheet, but someone will cover. In fact the modern DM/CB/LB hybrids are tailor made for this. Stones, Akanji, Gvardiol. Jorginho starts for Arsenal at times just for this imo and Rice does it to a lesser extent too.
  5. Why are the these clubs agreeing to them then? In the hopes they'll also be able to push up revenue? Haven't really read the details yet.
  6. I get what your're saying but it's not really a valid comparison. We did it to PSG before the squad fell apart mind. Atletico are a well oiled machine who've played in the latter stages of the CL season in season out. We just had our first outing in 20 something years with a squad full of players that have been de-bruced and given a shiny new coat of paint to try and pass off as CL footballers in a ridiculously difficult group. And Howe still nearly made it work.
  7. He's almost as insufferable as Owen, a feat I thought unachievable.
  8. Brilliant news. We need to be focused on improving the first team in the summer, not replacing our best players. Talking about Paqueta, whatever the hell happened to his yellow card betting investigation, or did I imagine it?
  9. I think that's a bit of a stretch. Howe and Tindall were visibly seething at one point and I"m sure Schar had a go at Hall and one or two others in the first half hour for being casual with the ball. We were just very poor. Letting them have the ball might have been part of the strategy but not being able to keep it for 5 seconds and letting them have acres of space hopefully wasn't. Different second half though, subs made a difference again. Barnes has looked absolute quality again since the latest injury, Anderson and Hall have looked good for the most part too. Not sure what's up with Willock like. Aye it was embarrassing. I'm usually of the view that it can take time for technology to become consistemt in sport and for officials to learn to use it. But this lot are utterly hopeless, they can't be trusted with VAR and they're only getting worse with time. Scrap the whole shambles this has become. The first Arsenal goal should have been looked at by VAR too, Lamptey clearly gets the ball but the ref obviously points to the stop and since its Arsenal of course VAR wont intervene.
  10. Aye that sums it up really. Barnes made a difference. Bruno came into the game second half. And Gordon for me crucial again.
