Aaaargh he's nothing like Miggy man. He's direct, decisive and has got an end product. Which is why he starts for Howe's cup winning team whereas the other was on the bench as soon as the patch was over. Eddie knows.

I agree on the Miggy comparison, unfair on Murphy that. Almiron had an insane purple patch but reverted to his usual self after that failing to look an improved player even under Howe. Murhpy can be inconsistent too but his end product is levels above Almiron's, even before this season. Fair play to Murphy like, one of the most underrated players in the league. Hard worker but it's not just that, he's worked on his game and consistently had impact. I can understand RW being a priority, maybe after Wilson's replacement and a fast CB as you said. If we get in the CL the aim should be to have 2 quality players in every position.

No easy games I suppose, even when the bottom sides are as shite as these. But even if we play with a little bit of confidence we should have enough for a win here and the motivation should be there to get into the CL spots. Avoiding injuries hopefully will be the other big one. Disappointed to see Gordon out but hopefully that's just us being careful.

I think at this point we can manage losing any player for a game or two and still stay in the CL running, except Isak. The absences of Gordon and Hall have shown that and while losing Bruno/Joe/Tonali would be a big blow we'd still have enough to give anyone a game. This might be the one game you'd think of resting/not risking Isak if Gordon and Barnes are fit with a view to the run in. Imo whether we finish 4/5th or not rests squarely on if Isak stays fit.

First piece of the Amorim jigsaw according to the commentators though. The leeway that man has been given is incredible. I mean granted he's taken a tough job with a shite overvalued overpaid squad but they still go on about him as if he's some revolutionary wizard who will inevitably figure it out and all he needs is time to get there. The bloke did well at Sporting. One club in an average league ffs. He's also shown himself to be inflexible and tactically naive so far not to mention greatly boost morale around the club by publicly calling his players and team shite numerous times. But Sky and the like will of course call all that 'sticking to his principle' etc. We'll good on them. Here's hoping he continues this trajectory and turns out to be another Ten Hag.
