Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER
Toonpack replied to Sonatine's topic in Newcastle Forum
I had work problem at other end of the clock, with damned yanks, no respect for time difference, they have learned though, after 11:00 am Texas time if they call/text me they will either be blanked (ladies) or told to fuck off (blokes). Meetings scheduled approaching similar times receive similar rebuffs. -

Fuck me, do these xG boys never sleep, 4:00 a.m. are you an accountant for a milkman -
Well I reckon Serbia will just have to cheer themselves up with a bit of ethnic cleansing, the murderous cunts.

I'll delete it when I've upset enough of you

Best day of the year for me, been bliss, I love Thanksgiving. All the fucking yanks are off so my inbox isn't filled with irrelevant micro-management bullshit (I ignore it anyway but reading it disturbs my sense of tranquillity).

For that, very brief, time they proclaimed that as being lightyears ahead !!

Well lookee here, my eyes (which lie to me evidently) seem to have been backed up by the statistics.

You should see his stamp collection, beautiful it is

I watch games, think about them a bit and talk about them, I don't then spend hours working on/creating spreadsheets extrapolating numbers to reflect the game I watched, I wonder which approach is actually worthy of mockery.

They murdered Belgium on it, by a factor of three, they must be favourites for that group now surely.

Sucker duly punched, who'd a thunk it !!!

Wow Cameroon creating some serious xG here, sucker punch incoming

They are invariably mega-gammons who don't even realise the crusades were a Euro (Catholic) thing, Germans and French etc have as much "right" to dress up, if they were dim enough to even consider it.

I have zero interest in "fully understanding" statistical analysis of "expected" football, I'll just watch games, cheers. High xG doesn't = a goal either.

That depends

Hope they got locked up

It's a statistic that's all, it's "predicts" the likelihood of a goal in given player/position situation based on consolidated historical data, that expectation of a goal doesn't equate to actual goals, see Canada for evidence. You don't need a stat to tell you player X is a good finisher, and player Y isn't, or having possession of the ball in the opponents penalty area, or at their byline is better than them having it in/at yours. You'd want good (high xG) attacking players in your team who put the ball into high xG areas, but establishing that can be observed without a calculation. A high xG player will make more areas of the pitch higher xG areas to him, I don't need a stat to tell me I'm watching Alan Shearer in his prime. I accept that like any measure if trended over time it can tell if a player is better/worse than he was and it can help build a picture of players/teams you don't watch, but in terms of any game happening in front of your eyes it means fuck all - there are so many other variable factors at play.

I could see they were never going to, wrong option passes/passes too late = chances not created that a better decision would have created, chances they did create skied, zero composure or 0.00 xC if you prefer. Better team, played well, but nothing up front in terms of cutting edge. My xGf (gut feel) was they were fucked as soon as they missed the pen.

on other matters I think Kane should be a hero and play through the pain of his ankle, he can then have a nice few months off to recover. I'm sure Spurs won't mind, it's for the greater good.

Nothing, it proves absolutely nothing.
