Andy Carroll aftermath(press conf/interviews etc)
Toonpack replied to Barney's topic in Newcastle Forum
Can you please explain how that can happen legally ?? The money's used to repay Ashley's loan to the club..... So reduction of a liability then, not back pocket -

He’s put a structure in place for running the club on the cheap so he can claw back the money he’s loaned it to hide the real cost of his many mistakes. It amazes me that after all that’s gone on over the last three years anyone can’t see what pigs ear he’s made of everything. Oh he's made a pigs lug of it alright, but it was a pigs ball sack when he bought it. crap It's the truth, as it was the club was unsustainable, FFS would have had us in Administration by now. Don't bother replying because I aint getting into this with you again. -
That's the wildcard, along with the fact he's now being paid at the level of the "finished article" what's his motivation now ???

Newcastle proper doesn't have one. North Shields will be the biggest round here in 5 years time though imo. My mate Woody runs North Shields and they're a decent side. He's played at Blyth Spartans amongst many others. Canny standard, tbh. I was there at Wembley when they won the FA Amateur Cup, great days. See their ground as well, have a look at the pics on the net, was the biggest non league ground in the country up to about 25 years ago, held 19,000. They had to shut it down though cos during a game a player was running on the to a through ball and he fell down a hole which just appeared from no where. Appleby Park was a great little ground, many happy memories until it all went tits up and they had to sell it.

Why didn't Carroll say no ?? I think there's circa 50,000 reasons per week. -

Bollocks. I first watched this team in the 60's (late 60's mind, and I still don't agree with Leazes) I've seen it all before. I just don't get blinded by emotion anymore. If you've seen it all before why are you saying wait and see until the summer, i.e. it might be reinvested etc.? Surely this is us going back to being a selling club. You can't have it both ways tbh. I'll assume the bit in bold was the only thing you disagreed with as well. It's £35 MILLION QUID man for Andy bloody Carroll, more than David Villa FFS There's not a club on the planet that isn't a selling club if the price is right (or even ludicrously right). If he'd taken £10 million for him, then I'd have my pitchfork and torch out too. But £35 million, geez !!! As I said somewhere else though, all it does is pay off the debt from relegation. What ambition! But that has to be paid off sometime, so if it's gone now we are in a much better postion to progress next summer. Aim this year was to stay up, I think we do that comfortably. The summer is when we see what the ambition is (or not). -

Don't be stupid man!!! £35 million quid for Andy Carroll !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Too good to refuse" only stands up as an argument that's palatable to the fans if it means the owner thinks we will be better off as a team in the long run by cashing in. We all know this money is getting trousered. No one follows the club for the joy of printing out the annual accounts and marvelling at the bottom line. We have been permanently worsened by this sale. No we don't, and we won't know one way or the other until the summer. Carroll could have simply said no. Ok then. You expect us to spend it then? Time will tell, we'll see in the summer. Look, I didn't want him to go but the offer was madness. He's miles from the finished article and his temprament in suspect, to say the least. Huge risk by Liverpool as they're paying absolute top "superstar" whack for "potential" with serious flaws off the pitch. -
I believe every word that's written. It ended as a mutual agreement by three parties but this whole thing was instigated by one, the owner of Newcastle United. It's absolute fucking bollox. The £35m WILL NOT be re-invested in the playing staff as the FCB manages to grab his money and hopefully fuck off never to be seen again. The blow hasn't been softened overnight, it's a right royal stitch-up which the fans are having to suffer as per the usual script. The whole thing was instigated by Chelsea bidding for Torres and him wanting to go.

The most expensive British player EVER, one of the top 10 deals in the history of the planet. Sheer madness by the dippers. I work in Aberdeen and people are actually coming up and congratulating me on the club taking Liverpools eyes out. I can't comprehend how anyone thinks this wasn't a no brainer. As for plots and theories, Liverpool bought Suarez to play with Torres (in the hope it would spark Torres back to life) when Chelsea came in and Torres made it plain we wanted offski, Liverpool panicked. Will Carroll become a great player, maybe, but he's nowhere near that yet, but now he's getting paid like he is, what's his motivation now ? and lets not forget he's been out injured because he fell off a bar-stool pissed up (again). £35+ Million quid Any club in the country would have sold Carroll for that offer, and for all the protestations of "I was forced out" bollocks, he could always have said no. Whether it gets spent next summer or goes against the bottom line, it's an amazing deal either way. -
Liverpool bid £35 million+ for Carroll

He's not though really, is he, fucking madness all round -
Give yer head a shake man !!

Every chance it'd have been the same if he'd stayed here. £35 million+, FUCKING HELL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
And there is NO WAY on God's green earth that Carroll is worth £35 million quid. you just can't turn that money down, almost means, in financial terms, that the relegation never happened. Would have loved to keep him (still hoping in a way) but this is just ridiculous cash they're talking here. He's still one loss of temper away from clink.

Andy Gray sacked by Sky over sexism row
Toonpack replied to Monroe Transfer's topic in Newcastle Forum
That's the balancing act the yanks have got right, they appreciate (by the nature of only 32 teams in the whole continent) that it has to be a very TV friendly sport, but the TV guys also realise a packed house with atmosphere adds to the whole package. -

Heard a few rumours they would both treat the people behind the scenes like dirt which would tie in with the perception they love themselves. If this is true you'd wonder if someone behind the scenes had a few bits of footage lined up as payback should the chance arise. Aye, and while I had some sympathy with what Keys was saying in his interview (about having been there since the 'start' when Sky was the minor player), it was only sympathy in the sentimental sense. Like shite was he the 'pioneer' that he was trying to make out, with people 'drinking at his well'. It was always someone elses format and it was always someone elses money was at risk. You're a presenter you daft hairy bastard, if you weren't doing it someone else would be and rest assured someone else soon will be. You've picked up a decent wedge as presenter and thats your compensation, never mind all this 'pioneering' bullshit, you were there for a salary. All of their ideas came from NFL presentation, the arrows on the screen, the boot room all that bollocks, and for me often they don't work that well. Look at Andy Townsend's tactics truck, it got abused so much ITV jacked it after4 weeks. Monday Night Football as well. Btw, me Dad was telling me that it's illegal to show NFL games live in the area where the game is taking place if the match itself isn't a sell-out. It's not "illegal" but it's in the TV contracts, no sell out, no broadcast in the home market broadcast area. Rarely happens as local businesses tend to buy up any spare tickets in those areas where it looks like happening (Minnesota being notorious) -
It's always been Pardew, the delay is just a pretence of "going through the process". Anouncement Thursday/Friday. Nailed on. Gutted !!!!!!!!!!!!
