  1. Had a look at the clip on the Newsnight website, some of it looks quite juicy. The bit about Charleloi looked a little flimsy but Charles Collymore more or less names and shames. I don't care who's involved-it'll be better for everyone if those guilty get the appropriate kicking.
  2. Well, that's the strangest 'ask the seller' question I've seen.

I think you're massively underestimating the power of Vatican, particularly in Southern Europe and South America. And you can't compare the Queen and the Pope as only the latter can be considered as a spiritual leader. Although they are both German.

I'll have to stop you there, because that is bollocks.
  5. Gig was canny enough. Noble was class, top stuff.
  6. Quicker off the mark than any of them. I doubt many are brave enough to heckle! Although I was amused by some of the cringes when Gina Yashere made everyone laugh by saying a naughty word. Dismal.
  7. I've not watched a lot of Extras but tuned in tonights seeing as it was sandwiched in between Dragon's Den and Mitchell and Webb. The scenes on the sitcom set were pretty good but at times other parts were laboured. It could probably function better as a funnier 15 miunte programme if there wasn't the requirement to construct a suitable drop in appearance of a celeb. Maybe that's not the point? Liked M&W, thought the 'medical drama' sketch was brilliant. All followed by 'Mock the Week' which could equally be titled 'an assortment of some funny people and some talentless goons' but I guess that doesn't have the same ring to it.
  8. Just about to join this poker bandwagon as a mate of mine is starting a few poker nights in a month or so and I've no intention of donating my stash without a fight. What's the best site for getting to grips with the game- I know a lot of the casinos have a downloadable exe- any recommendations? It goes without saying that as a n00b, all previous posts seem to be in code.
  9. Geordieboyleeclark one step nearer the top job.
  10. I thought the police chopper was flying around with this flash right outside my window, didn't hear the thunder with my headphones on!
  11. I guess it depend how you look at what is 'British'. I bet your Home Counties middle-englanders would see Britain in a different way to you or I might (unless you like Pimms, LM?). Is the way some Asian communities choose to isolate themselves (Bradford being the recent example) any different to these walled estates filled with luxury houses and Lexi? Should we be getting the well-to-do to put more effort into hobnobbing with the common man in the same way we are expecting Muslims to integrate into an Anglo-Saxon Christian culture? Crucially, does the state have the right to stop people isolating themselves?
  12. It's an unfortunate side effect of the freedom Britain affords its residents that people have more freedom to harm the country. The irony being they are trying to destroy the freedom that given them room to operate. The only solution is to maintain good intelligence and not to tolerate those who preach for the destruction of the country. This is cut-and-dried treason and should be punished accordingly. From what I've seen on TV most of these British suicide bombers were known as 'good kids' then became obsessed with extremist Islamic groups. Young, disenfranchised men have always been and always will be easy prey for the cowards running these operations. I don't doubt some of the bombers were evil and hate filled, but I cannot avoid the feeling that vulnerable people have been brainwashed into mass murder. They are guilty, of course, but it is the masterminds who are the outright culprits. We must not tolerate preachers of hate. That doesn't mean disapprove in public. It means they are to be locked up and denied the opportunity to communicate with the outside world and spread further hatred. I don't beleive it's because they haven't led a 'British' way of life because that is impossible to define. You could draw ethnic, religious of language lines but there are any number of 'ways of life' across the social spectrum. Is the the way of life in Mayfair the same as in Moss Side, that of a stockbroker the same as a streetsweeper? They'll have different values too, surely?
  13. Stop me if I'm wrong, but the club are continuing to offer him new contracts. What is so wrong with signing them? Do you think perhaps he should work harder in training and show Roeder that the key to solving our defensive woes is to play two goalkeepers? He's not sitting there on huge money refusing to leave and 'doing a Bogarde' (and even then, I'm on Bogarde's side). He's doing a job, it just so happens that job doesn't involve a lot of playing. He's there week in, week out- it just so happens we have a very good first choice goalkeeper who rarely gets injured. Honestly, there is no pleasing some people.

    bramble

We seem to have an irrational fear of losing players on frees. Bramble is the perfect example of the Bosman ruling coming in handy. His time at the club has run its course. He is not good enough. The expiry of Moore and Bramble's deals should give a perfect opportunity to bring in the required quality, or anything remotely like it.
  15. Seriously, have a word. 'Up there with the worst?' Not a clue.
  16. A slightly younger Warnock for comparison
  17. Bowyer wanted away regardless and the decision to let him depart was mainly a practical one given that he only had a year to go on his contract. The reason I like Emre is that he's a footballer. Some players get by in the game (an alarming number in fact) who are simply athletes- they can run faster than most or can run harder for longer than most. Some are supremely strong. It's refreshing when a player just knows how the game works and uses his brain to get an advantage. He can hold the ball, turn and pick a decent pass. He's shown he's capable of winning the ball but has a tendency to overcommit and has something of a short fuse. I would have Emre pushed much further up the pitch than he was yesterday. He's not going to burn full-backs for pace, but with a bit of ball control he can buy the couple of seconds needed to get men to push forward. That's a better option than sending the ball 60 yards to the approximate vicinity of a cente-forward's head. His real fault is remembering to play the game that's actually happening and not the game in his head. He needs to get his head up more often to avoid running into a blind alley. I'm always disappointed to see the amount of abuse he gets at times as it's not merited in my opinion. He has a lot to improve on but that's more likely to happen when you can actually control a football and use your brain. It's a decent starting point. I may be the only one, but I thought Parker and Emre combined quite well on a number of occasions to squeeze the ball when Fulham were in possession, particularly in the first half down the left wing.
  18. Tactical genius to play the ball to Martins' head more than his feet. After 10 minutes we should have figured he'd have to drop deeper to get the ball. Our whole forward movement was a mess. Emre was too deep, Charlie had a shocker, Duff started brightly then disappeared completely. Martins kept turning into his man, when he's getting the ball he need to be facing goal. He had a poor game but the service was also dreadful for most of the game.
  19. Emre is one of the few players in the side who when getting the ball can make space for himself, take his time and find a pass rather than hooooooooooooooooooof it up as soon as he gets it. He kept up the pressure around the edge of the area and won the ball on a number of important occasions. Aside from the goal his delivery was a bit off, but better than Zog who had something of a nightmare.
  20. You mean like world champion 2005 Fernando Alonso?
  21. Btw, you are allowed to buy more than one player in the transfer window.
  22. Agree 100%. Thought he worked harder than any player today at winning the ball back with the possible exception of Parker.
