  1. But it did and has, evidently there's 'football fans' and 'newcastle fans', Bergkamp was technically a great player, a cheat but a great player. Personally though I wouldn't want to celebrate him on a forum supposedly aimed at Newcastle United fans, I don't see what he's got to do with our team. The point's moot anyways, unless you're in the 'inside circle' this isn't the place to be. Bollocks! You come out with an argumentative comment like you did and if anyone bites back, it's automatically because you're not part of "the cliqué". There is no cliqué, if any of the regulars had made that comment it'd have been challenged. Bergkamp was sly, but he was also an awesome player - one of the best this league has ever seen. The goal he scored against us in 2002 will go down as one of the best ever. Still doesn't change the fact that this is supposedly a 'newcastle' forum and Bergkamp has got feck all to do with our team. As a member of this forum (feel free to be surprised that I've been her for a while) I know I don't post as regularly as some but I would say there is a certain element of having a 'cliqué', that said it is understandable that you'd get a reasonable one from having some 'regulars' who dominate most threads. Most of you lot are a decent bunch, apologises for upseting those who aren't. On a side note you should really consider having a seperate forum where you can drool over players/historical figures from other football teams, personally I'm a newcastle fan and as such couldn't give a flying dogs cock about other teams or stuff to do with them, you'll be putting up a compilation of Roy 'dog wanker' Keane next. If, as you say you have, you have been around here for a while, you'll know that we've twice trialed the idea of a seperate football forum only for it unanimously be given the thumbs down on both occassions. If all you want to hear about is Newcastle United, then only open those threads. It was fairly indicative from the title what this thread was about and seeing as there's no rule here to post 'only NUFC related' stuff in this forum, there's nothing wrong with Jonny posting it. Heaven forbid if you do manage to open a non-NUFC related thread, you could always exercise the right not to reply.
  2. 2 years ago Emre scored a belting goal in a narrow 3-2 win at home. Difference was, that was against the Mackems who ended up bottom with the worst Premiership record ever. Fairly indicative of how we've improved IMO. Everton are a bloody good side.
  3. 9th on 14 points, 2 points off 4th. 5 points of 3rd with a game in hand...
  4. It was stupidity on the shoulders of both McLaren AND Hamilton. I don't care what he says about not being able to see in his mirrors, a professional racing driver (and certainly one of his calibre) knows when his tyres are spent. He should have been in a lap earlier or the one before that but he was more focused on keeping Kimi behind him which should not have been his priority. Leaves McLaren in an interesting situation. They've only got the driver's title to go for and surely don't want to lose that to Ferrari too, but if Alonso out-qualifies Hamilton in Brazil then surely they're going to have to support the traitor within ahead of his team-mate who has done everything by the book and fully supported the team regardless?? Funny sport, F1....
  5. I don't know what's more laughable, the idea of us selling him to Spurs or a Spuds fan picking at the fact Given put the ball in his own net.... Glass houses and stones - silly arseholes!

  7. Blatently eyeing up which cars to take for a spin...
  8. Would you share the same opinion if it was DC in one of the McLarens?
  9. Hmmm - probably... Remind me what happens if Raikkonen & Alonso also fail to finish today though? Not exactly looking likely with 6 laps to go though. Should i have put some emphaisis on that word?
  10. Not at all - I'm just referring to the fact that, in the same way he was convinced Hamilton would be WDC today, 'the Cock' is convinced that the WDC cannot be sewn up today. I'm glad it's going to the wire - makes it more interesting... I bet Alonso feels like a bit of a tit for his comment yesterday now.

  12. Think we'd beat the French though... I certainly hope so now!! I still think we'll beat them..... Doubt we'd beat South Africa though
  13. Both Ferrari's had the measure of him in Q1 and Q2 so it stands to reason there's less fuel in his tank. Hopefully he'll use it to his advantage and put the hammer down building up a decent lead by the first round of pit-stops. So long as he concentrates on the things he can be in control of AND the car doesn't let him down, he'll be WDC this time tomorrow. If he starts worrying about the Ferrari's it'll get the better of him...
  14. Think we'd beat the French though...
  15. I can't see the French getting one over on the All Blacks, nor us.... Whilst today's result is a great effort, we shouldn't forget what happened to us against the Springboks. We're not the same force we were 4 years ago and I very much doubt we'll get much further.
  16. If she did, I'm pretty sure it gets discreditted. I might be wrong but I'm sure Ben Johnson 'won' the 100m at the '88 Olympics in a world record time.
  17. Jose Mourinho wants to fuck off to Portugal and never set foot on English soil again. Apparently he's contacted Gerry and Kate McCann for some tips...
  18. Have a look at point. 10 and click the link.... http://www.e-consultancy.com/news-blog/364...site-sucks.html
  19. Much like 2k vs WinXP (unless you stripped WinXP right down to what would be effectively Win2k SE anyway), by the time you upgraded your PC to negate the performance loss of the extra bloatware the OS is probably 1/2 through it's shelf-life. It's no coincidence at all that they kept DirectX 10 for Vista, when there's no real reason (other than making people buy Vista) for not releasing it on XP and every game would have ran much better (on the same hardware) on that OS for the next year or so anyway. It's ironic that people worry about spyware, but don't realise that Vista basically IS spyware. Eh?? XP was far more than just an 'aesthetic' upgrade of 2K, it was a whole new operating system which they eventually tailored to resemble Win2K. For example, the boot cycle in XP is considerably quicker than in 2K.
  20. Aye that Alex Ferguson is clueless I don't think they do make the most of him though. I'd agree with that
  21. Head over a bowl of boiling water with a couple of drops of olbas oil in it and a towel over the top of your head. Opens the nasal passages and works a treat. Early night helps too.
  22. Along with Joey Barton, Duff's a player I keep forgetting we have! If at the beginning of 2005 someone told you we'd have Owen, Smith, Barton & Duff on our books in a little over 2 years, we'd have been creaming ourselves. Yet still some don't seem impressed with any of them. The motivational thing for me is down to the manager. I think Sam will likely get a lot more out of Duff than Roeder could have ever dreamed of...
  23. It's a fucking crap rule - the lights on the safety car are switched off on the lap before it is coming in. So long as the cars are in formation when it peels off, there shouldn't be any ruling to prevent them drifting ahead of each other in my book. They have no problem with it happening on the formation lap, so why under safety car conditions?? They caused themselves a problem by penalising Vettel IMO.
