Not in yours, mine, or anyone else who's watched TG or Braniac for that matter's eyes but a lot of people hadn't heard of him before the crash and now have. You ask a poll of 500 people on the street who Richard Hammond is and I guarantee they'll reply "the bloke who nearly killed himself" rather than "one of the presenters on Top Gear".... Good point. Bastard.

What a fucking seed for leaving it with a bunch of valeting monkeys tbh. If I had a car like that, I'd be washing the thing myself, not giving some spotty YTS kid the pleasure.

That's my point Ally, it was news back then - quite why they've really had to go OTT over the return of a series which was never in doubt is beyond me. And you're not telling me that the viewing figures went up by 60% simply because it's a quality show? Ben interesting to see how many tune in again on Sunday - not as many I bet. I didn't expect it to return without a mention, but it didn't need the hype that it had. I think the 3 dealt with it well, there was a bit of joviality, thanks from Richard to the people who helped him and then, importantly, it was on with the show. Sadly he'll always be known as the bloke who almost killed himself in a jet car rather than one of the guys off Top Gear and Brainiac. I doubt that's what he wants.

Rumours of the first arrests at Branscome last night. Two blokes were seen loading sand and gravel into a van labeled 'O'Malley & Sons, Builders Merchants'

To be honest the media have gone waaaay over the top about this. At the time it was very serious and people naturally were concerned, but he's come out of it unscathed and all is as it was before. The the BBC announce they're going to show the clip and suddenly 3 million more people than normal tune in to watch the show. Clarkson even subtely made the point that the were putting the footage at the end of the show as they knew damned well the 'rubber neckers' would switch over just as soon as it was shown. tbh once the program had started and they were into the feature on roadworks, i'd totally forgotten they were going to show it. It's only when they said "and now to Richard's crash" that I remembered. Hammond himself hit the nail on the head - no mention of it again, it's over, in the past.... Time to get on with normality.

Fair point. He's still right about Goody though. Correct on both counts!

Interesting to note Microsoft's pricing policy on this. The US versions are roughly half the cost of the same version in the UK Microsoft Enterprise Library at work will soon be updated and I've got a spare machine at home which is capable of running it so I'll give it a whirl

It might not be a loan? Aye..... Remember the Kluivert 'loan' which became 'permanent' at the press conference??

Agree with Skol. From the moment the tire started to "go away" to the moment it exploded was 0.4 second. Clarkson made joke of it that he never reacted in time but as Hammond said, even a trained fighter pilot wouldn't have reacted any better. He did what he could, once that tyre blew and considering the cross winds, an accident was inevitable. Thankfully he's come out of it relatively unscathed!

Some would argue that Jesus is a shit name for the son of god, but names stick!

I think the worst examples are when people have a private plate on a shit car. I once saw a private plate on an old Austin Metro which was rusting as it moved. Fuck's sake man, spend the money on a better car!

There's only a few forums where you need to be a member to see them. The main ones are viewable to everyone. I'm guessing the google bot was simply in the personal messenger section so that it could cache the area. I can make it invisible if people prefer but I've just never seen the point.

Craig Craig How long does this obsession have to continue?

He certainly looks older as a result but that's understandable IMO. He hasn't lost the spark and neither have the others and that's the most important thing

All news is biased. Since the web took off, I've rarely bought a newspaper and probably read "Metro" more regularly than any other as it's free on the Tube. I tend to read things from various sources and then form my own opinion on it.

The pre-amble to the accident was so ironic. "potential for the biggest accident ever", "i don't want to go upside down"... The one that stuck in my mind was his comments after his second run though (the one where he lit the after-burner): "I'm alive, I feel so alive".... Very nearly wasn't a couple of minutes later though The roadworks feature had me cracking up!

Had a lie in, been shopping, done some DIY, had a sleep after sunday roast..... I'm turning into my dad!

I think you'll find that's improper use of punctuation
