If he appoints a manager who delivers a trophy, then I'll say that he's made a good decision. However I will still maintain that he is ultimately responsible for the reason why the club has taken such a backward step over the past 2½ years. Shepherd is extremely competent at managing a balance sheet - when it comes to forward planning where the club's concerned, I think he's extremely inept... Do you conceed that he sacked Robson without any fore-thought of who would be willing to replace him? The same Shepherd who only wants British managers who he's never approached before, the same Shepherd who said Craig Bellamy will never play for the club so long as he's involved (that one's for your benefit, not mine!), the same Shepherd who continues to give Graeme Souness his full backing? This is more than one bad managerial appointment tbh.
-
Shepherd hired Souness though (I know you're gonna keep masking over that each time I mention it). Bottom line is that whatever negative comment we make about Souness at Newcastle United, Shepherd is ultimately responsible for everything he does at the club!
-
I guess so. Was considered the new Rush IIRC..

I'm pretty conviced she's deadly serious - what's more, I agree with her...
-
You yourself said that Souness is a 'failure at great financial cost'. Who do you blame for that?
-
Indeed we have seen the shite, but then we've seen the odd speciality over the years: Shearer (Southampton) Owen (Liverpool) Rooney (Everton) They're banding around a figure of around £8m for him which for a 16 year old seems a bit absurd. If he was to come here I seriously don't know whether I'd be happy or not. Something that is consistent with the names I've mentioned above is that they established themselves upto full international level before they moved on - I think he'd benefit from staying where he is, at least for another 3-4 years...

No links or rumours, just wondered what people's opinion of the latest 'wonderkid' are? I've not seen him with the exception of the goals on MOTD this evening (fuck, can he run!) but I've heard both Arsenal and Chelsea are sniffing around him... Thoughts?
-
Your opinions of Souness and Shepherd are at the opposite ends of the spectrum though, yet Shepherd is the man who hired Souness and continues to support him (I'm not talking about financially).... Souness has been a failure at great financial cost - but that's Shepherd's fault!
-
Pointless discussing it further when you keep your on where Shepherd is concerned tbh...
-
I couldn't give a shit what goes on in PMs tbh - I'd just wish it'd stay there rather than overflow onto the forum. In general if someone is PMing you and you don't want them to, ask them to stop. If they refuse, then report it to an admin/moderator and we'll look further into it.
-
You don't specifically know it's you he's talking about though.....unless you've deliberately been trying to wind him up of course!
-
Course our chairman makes no input whatsoever and the comments about the specific player that he makes to the press are naturally bullshit....

Anyone else get to watch the Hull v Villa game earlier today? Milner was above and beyond the best player on the pitch for them - never stopped running and make chances everywhere. Funny thing is, it was performances like this for Leeds which made me pleased we signed him but he never seemed to repeat it for us. I'm now convinced that it's down to the shite coaching techniques in place at the club and that, with a new manager, he'd be a revolation.. I just pray to god that if we do get rid of Souness anytime soon, someone at the club somehow manages to persuade Milner that his best interests are back at SJP...

76004 What it doesn't say in Graeme's little post-match analysis up there was that the Sky blokey said something along the lines of "To the neutral football fan, it could be suggested that you were outplayed for large parts of the game today" To which Graeme replies "No, I don't think so" Funny - I could have sworn I saw him at the game today and it was blatantly ferking obvious that we WERE outplayed. 76006 Graeme Courtney was the match summariser for Talksport (didn't he used to work for the club? ). He summed it up as follows: Newcastle were outplayed and outclassed by Mansfield and the men in black and white shirts simply didn't look interested... How many times is this twat going to have his bacon saved? Anything less than a demolition of Mansfield today was to be seen as a total disaster. Souness seems to think that all we wanted was a result when what we actually wanted was a performance to show that we warrant our status 77 places above this, frankly shite, outfit... God only knows the outcome if we get a League One club in the next round.....unless Souness is dispensed of.
-
so you are saying that we should have gone on into the season with Shearer as our only forward/striker ? [that would have been down to Souness] 75766 That doesn't appear to be what he's saying tbh. 75770 do i really need to put the first line on bold - my whole post is addressing the desperate situation we were in before the deadline, thanks to Souness' ego and behaving like a complete amateur 75773 You've just outlined precisely what I've known you've thought all along Leazes... We make a good signing, you praise Shepherd. We make a poor signing, you blame Souness... I'm not defending Souness, but my point is that Shepherd is ultimately responsible for the signings of Babayaro, Boumsong & Faye as well as those of Owen, Parker, Emre and Solano.

How do you know it was you he was talking about like?

I saw the experiment on a website. If you want I can simply quote some text from the Rockefeller Report in 1975 that states the possibility that JFK could have been shot from behind and his head could still have reacted in the same way. No offence like mate, but I would accept the evidence of ballistics experts in a government enquiry suggesting this is possible over you saying it isn't. My hwole point was that the Zapruder film doesn't prove a second gunman on the Grassy Knoll (or anywhere else). I have no idea what you mean by passing through two bodies, what do you mean by that. Jimbo's right about keeping an open mind of course. 75830 I've seen footage of the water-melon experiment as well (they've also done it with a mannequin). The placed a melon in front of a camera and then shot at it with the same make of rifle, from the same distance and the same angle that LHO was supposedly at. The reason was that people were saying the fatal head shot must have come from the front as a shot from behind would result in the head going forward. As Alex said, all this experiment proved is that it IS possible for a shot from the book depository to result in the movement that Kennedy's head experienced.

Yes, most of which have been invented by conspiracy theorists (e.g. faked autopsy documents, the 'magic bullet' etc.). I think people would rather believe (in the U.S. in particular) that there was a mass conspiracy rather than that some lone nutter was able to kill the President. 75809 There will always be conspiracy theory's regarding events such as this, much like the death of Diana, the Apollo moon landings etc, however the Kennedy assassination has far more compelling doubts and questions than most others. 75811 For example? 75812 I'm suprised you need reminding. The millitary interference at the autopsy that prevented a full examination. The loss of Kennedy's brain. The evidence that points out the Kennedy's neck wound was more likely to be an entrance wound than an exit wound. The convenient death of Lee Harvey Oswald before he could be tried. etc. 75817 Fair enough, I accept there are doubts mate, specifically though there is no proof regarding any of the above linking them to a conspiracy though. The one in bold is an invention by the way, it was an exit wound. Also, if it was an entry wound it would need a third gunman located in front of Kennedy. Where was he then? Basically, all I'm saying is, people come up with all this, but there is no proof to back it up. Many people knock the 'official' evidence despite the fact it holds up to heavy scrutiny yet are willing to accept pieces of evidence created by conspircy theorists which doesn't hold up to scrutiny. 75821 Actually one of the doctors in the ER at Parkland Hopsital noted when he was initially examining Kennedy that he had and entry wound to his throat. He later was to clarify that was the case as this wound was 'clean' whereas the wound in Kennedy's back was more 'blasted' which was consistent with a shot from the front.... The Warren Commission managed to bury that claim of course!

Very true....

I know I'll regret saying this, but doesn't the final yes/no on whether we sign a player lie with FS rather than GS?? If so, he is ultimately responsible for the amount we're paying out for sub-standard players. I'd also suggest that someone has a word with the scouts as well as they evidently didn't do their homework on the likes of Boumsong, Faye & Babayaro (Yes I know Souness wanted them as well but the club surely will have sent a scout to keep an eye on their consistency............wouldn't we? ) Then again, this is NUFC....
-
One of those we'll never know the answer too I doubt. However, as pointed out on a programme the other night, even the American Government contradicts each other... The Warren Report found that Oswald was the lone assassin, yet in 1978 the house select committee on assassinations found that there was almost certainly a second gunman and therefore a conspiracy. Both are government sources and all the American governments since have refused to dis-credit either theory. Too many procedures were altered and too much evidence 'disappeared' for my liking - JFK's brain for instance went 'missing' from the national archives which was the one piece of evidence which would be able to prove, beyond doubt, which direction the bullet that caused the head wound came from. If the Warren Report was right, then surely it would have been in the best interests of the country to prove it?? Unless they couldn't....

Grand four months tho hmm? :P 75681 It certainly could be.. 75686 when you're 73 it'll take you 4 months just to remember what it was like then by the time you've cleaned up the piss you'll just want a nice cuppa and Emmerdale. Live fast, die young thats my motto (not that I have any choice by the looks of it!) 75688 I think you're being generous on it only taking 4 months tbh.

well it IS Willington Quay - not quite the intellectual centre of the UK the last time I passed thru on the metro On the other hand I wouldn't have put it down as a haunt of paedophiles either........ I suppose that's the trouble - they are everywhere 74992 Canny impressive of you to pass such a detailed judgement on a whole populated area whilst sitting on the Metro there Rob
