If we get Cabaye performing again and Ben Arfa back then I can see Cisse getting his form back. That may be enough to keep us up but I'd feel much happier with another striker here. I'm just starting to worry that Carr's scouting may not be quite as amazing as we thought, there don't seem to be many other options in place. I don't like losing out on targets but as others have said, the fact that he's going there means he's looking to move on again anyway. It's depressing that we're a stepping stone club but that all rests with Ashley and until he decides he's going to try and have some ambition we'll lose players.

Players have bereavements all the time and still play. Frank Lampard springs to mind. Players get divorced. If the speculation is true and he's been cheating on his wife but he's still trying to wangle a loyalty bonus would that change your mind?

As club captain I think he owes us more than silence. We all hated Owen for saying fuck all.

Look at how hard it is to get a good England manager ffs. It's easy to sack a manager and usually they do relatively well at the beginning. Look at the CVs of those who have 'failed' at Chelsea. It has been a very long time since we've had anything approaching managerial stability and almost for that reason alone I'm happy to stick with Pardew. Moyes has had good and bad seasons. Seeing as how CT doesn't have to underwrite the risk he can spout as much new found confidence as he likes. His position is eternally rigged for him to kid himself that he's right 'there's always someone better out there....and it's not my job to say who'. If I were a mod I would ban him for a week, I'd rather listen to Leazes.

Good post, although any premiership footballer who ends up with money worries deserves them tbf. I keep changing my mind on this one. The other day I thought the club were right to hold firm on paying him silly money, just because I thought it would upset the team spirit which was there last year. The fact is though, why would any of our players stay when the owner will undo any good work achieved by cashing in or not investing anyway?

I fear not....
