That's true of all players tbf...! Oh and:
  4. I'm really excited about Branson being involved with us. He's like a magnificent financial prince.
  5. Thanks for posting. That was insane! I'd love to see it in slow motion from another angle. That's up there with Maradonna's against us in 86. Jonas's goal was a peach too...!
  6. Even manages to call Man U "United". Couldn't fuck off fast enough as far as I'm concerned. He's a fucking knob. The Gary Barlow of football.
  7. What's not to like? "Northern" and "Rock" were admittedly two fairly cool words to have on your shirt but "Virgin" and "Money" aren't bad either.
  8. He's right about Ferguson doing a great job with what he has (in the league anyway). Surely by now they're all his buys though....!? Well aye but I suppose that's a slightly different issue. What Cabayaye was saying was countering the notion he'd lost the dressing room. Chelsea and Man City both have a lot more money to spend than he does these days though so he's arguably doing well on the transfer front too. Not that I feel sorry for him like Yeah, I can think of more deserving targets for my sympathy! It was tongue in cheek but I wondered if Giggs might just have been there before 1986.
  9. That actually looks quite cool IMO.

  11. That is absolutely mint Took me a second to cotton on but that is quality. Has to get started at the games. Me too, that's class.
  12. She's pompous and annoying. She also had room to make 'love' past tense btw....!
  13. I'm pretty sure it was the morning after the Bali bombings or something, and Rooney had scored a hat trick in Europe the night before. The news reporter finishes up his bulletin about the bombing, and Brazil segues in with "Wayne Rooney set off three bombs of his own last night too eh? A fantaaaaastic hat trick." Yup, I heard that. The man's an absolute tool.
  14. Wow ... well, I guess that they think any old black man will do. I guess so!
  15. I've been working on the house putting in a new bathroom and went to bed knackered with the computer on the BBC update page. When I woke up at 3am and opened my bleary eyes.....:
  16. Newcastle United and Virgin Money agree a new £20m shirt sponsorship deal Newcastle United have agreed a two-year deal for Virgin Money to become the club’s new shirt sponsor which could be worth as much as £20million. Negotiations were only concluded late on Tuesday night as Virgin belatedly agreed to meet Newcastle’s demands, which led to frantic race to get the team’s shirt emblazoned with the new logo before Wednesday’s night game against Manchester United. Northern Rock had sponsored Newcastle’s shirt for the last eight seasons, but were officially taken over by Virgin on January 1st and so were unable to fulfil the terms of their sponsorship agreement which was due to expire at the end of this season. Virgin will take over the terms of the existing Northern Rock deal, but have also decided to commit for the next two seasons. Virgin have agreed to extend that deal by another year and have offered the first 10,000 supporters who bring their shirts to the club shop a free replacement logo to cover the old Northern Rock one. RELATED ARTICLES Newcastle United 3 Manchester United 005 Jan 2012 Newcastle v Man Utd: live04 Jan 2012 Paul Hayward: Carroll needs to become a modern marksman04 Jan 2012 QPR 1 Norwich City 203 Jan 2012 Ferdinand back to boost fragile De Gea03 Jan 2012 Jayne-Anne Gadhia, Chief Executive at Virgin Money, said: “Now that Virgin Money and Northern Rock are united as one business, it gives us great pleasure to continue the shirt sponsorship of Newcastle United Football Club. “The Northern Rock sponsorship started in 2003 and it is an important link to the North-East which we are pleased to continue. Combined with our sponsorship of the Virgin London Marathon and the Edinburgh Festival ‘Fringe on the high street’, the shirt sponsorship of Newcastle United Football Club embeds our involvement in the communities we serve. “The first 10,000 supporters with 2011/12 season shirts that bring them to the Club shop will receive a free Virgin Money update to their shirt. "Availability of this new branding will be posted on the club website but is expected at the end of the week.” Newcastle had hoped to find a combined sponsor for the shirt and stadium after owner Mike Ashley changed its name from St James’ Park to the Sports Direct Arena in November, but there is still no news of a stadium deal. That is likely to mean Ashley’s own sports company continues to benefit from the free advertising controversial name change gives him, at least until the summer. The club have not made any mention of the stadium naming rights in their deal with Virgin Money and it is not clear whether Branson’s company were offered the chance to combine the two as had been mooted by Newcastle. Newcastle’s managing director Derek Llambias said: “We’re delighted to secure this new deal with Virgin Money and we look forward to enjoying a mutually beneficial partnership over the coming seasons. It is an excellent deal for both parties and we’re very happy to have them on board.”
  17. and according to you, buying good footballers and paying the going rate isn't sustainable. You should make your mind up. From a footballing perspective, selling your best players and hoping to replace them on the cheap (if that is what we do in this window) isn't sustainable. From a financial perspective, paying money we can't afford for players isn't sustainable. I would like us to find a middle way. However, that doesn't appear to fit in with your black and white view of the world. Simply put and all the more utterly spot on for it. There really is no more that needs to be said on the matter than this.
  18. I can't think of anyone better who would work with the clowns we've got in charge.
  19. Even though this defeat was nailed on tonight, it's still tediously depressing when it happens.
