Italian and Argentinian Internationals to sign on loan...

Me too - I couldn't honestly think of a a player i would welcome less - puts the hope in hopeless that one -
Aye it is Mark Saggers - not sure whether he has a specific dislike for us or just toes the general 5 live party line which in general is to ridicule and mock nufc at every opportunity but he went to town when Keegan left - i ended up switching off cos i couldn't take any more fuckin cliches he was coming out with - i can't stand five live they are so clueless they put fuckin waddle up as an expert to comment on any news regarding newcastle - he fuckin hates us the mackem twat I hardly ever listent to 5Live - I only tuned in last night as I had heard they were going to talk about the current crisis and football. 5 Live are STILL doing these adverts for their own shows which goes along the lines of: have tune in background. At intervals have someone make a comment as if they're talking through a magaphone or something. Christ on a fucking bike. Anyway, I took Harris at his word yesterday saying we were close to being sold only for this fraudster to cause mayhem. It makes no difference really, as we're still owned by Ashley who wants the money he has paid our debts off with back. Tbh its a total mess but it seems very convenient that the very same buyers that were goin to take us on were stung by this guy - maybe its true but at the same time it would be a very easy out for somebody to use (conspiracy theorytastic)

Newcastle tell Man City to swap Johnson + cash for Given

Not for 8mill - 15mill is a truer reflection of his current standing -
That would give them an entire squad comprising of midfielders - interesting tactic

This is where I find it hard to get myself into a corner against Ashley. I wonder if what he is doing is actually good for the club. We all know the wages are too high and income from tv could go tits up soon. Unless one has their head in the sand, the overwhelming scare is of clubs being in deep financial shit and the prospect for the future being bleak. There is a chance that in a year or so, Ashley could well turn round and say, 'That's why I was doing the things I did' and we could well thank him for it (I know this view is probably flawed but I just wonder what is going to happen financially in the next year or so for football). However, HOWEVER, Ashley chose Wise and co over Keegan (from what we think we know) and that is extremely hard to stomach for me. He is a tosser for that like - but with reduced shirt sponsorship deals and ever decreasing tv money the waters are looking a bit choppy and we may be well placed when the shit hits the fan (saying that i could be totally wrong and he is just the useless twat that he comes across as)
-
I think the club are paranoid about selling themselves down the river financially - I can honestly see some clubs going tits up in the near future as a result of unsustainable wage and debt levels - as unpalatable as this may be for us it may well be the best strategy - build up from a solid base with younger players - nobody truly knows what is going on behind the scenes
-
He keeps it simple - he has no illusions of being a tactical genius but knows enough - Stoke game aside(which i blame him totally for because you could see the shit coming) i reckon he is doing a good job - if he keeps his trap shut and keeps us up then it can only be viewed as a successful appointment considering the nightmare which could have enveloped us
-
His company declared a 77milion profit two weeks ago - he is doing something right
-
At least he can pass the ball and has some energy - I know its a lower standard of football but he is their stand out player when i have seen them - could provide some much needed link up play from our midfield
-
Well maybe in his delusional state of mind he thought it may appease a section of the fans clamouring for a signing - since he was talking shite though he might as well of linked us with lionel messi - in for a penny in for a pound
-
Its either the greatest smoke screen ever or a level of buffoonery never witnessed before - i think we all have our suspicions as to which one it is - i just can't see the point in linking us with a shite player who nobody wants anyway in an effort to appease the fans - randomly talking bollocks does not instill confidence joe
-
Exactly - why pay top money now when the future value of the asset is uncertain - fools rush in and all that - if you've got that much cash your no mug (Ashley is exempt from that statement)

Not having a dig - what was your prediction i must have missed it Took a while to hunt it out, here and in a few other threads. http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?showtopic=21636 Aye it was gabriel marcotti on five live - he was roundly slagged off for saying it but financially it could work - saying that i reckon there are five or six clubs on the verge of financial meltdown - i honestly reckon only the biggest clubs (largest gate before we get into definitions) will operate in the top league and the likes of boro, pompey et al will drop to a lower level - a super league is on the horizon - in my humble opinion
-
If he has any sort of nightmare here it has been of his own creation - decent player but poor PR for the club just don't replace him with barry ferguson
-
Not having a dig - what was your prediction i must have missed it

Not half the player that Robert was for us. Your right there i was only making the comparison cos robert left after letting his gob go then pretty much vanished into the ether
-
I think we are moderately shit but there are several clubs who are very shit so i don't think we will get relegated this season, however, as far as team progression goes i just can't see it happening and we will know we have reached the bottom when all our star players have gone and we eventually lose the annual relegation avoidance challenge which we will participate in for seasons to come
-
Bloody hell - They are both mediocre and ferguson never settled at blackburn - missed Glasgow too much - and the other bloke is a journeyman at best
-
This happens every transfer window - how many times has this cunt come out and said the same shite now - he isn't good enough for arsenal and I doubt psg could afford his wages(may be wrong with the euro and that now like) he is a decent player who never quite fulfilled the potential he displayed as a youngster but its not like he has some extraordinary talent - another laurent robert for me - too much gob - will leave and fade into insignificance

Im not sure how the rebuilding of the house will make any difference to where he goes other than if the makems or smogs were to come in for him. Although Harper is capable him signing his contract is now dependent on a new contract being drawn up and it being to whatever he classes as his level as first team keeper. Im guessing he will now want what Given was on so maybe he will stall on it. Hes currently in the position of being able to negotiate a move wherever in the Summer, that position is heavily strengthened by the fact he'll become first choice keeper. I think our chances of him signing a contract now are slim. He can raise his value with other clubs because hes going to be in the shop window now whereas before he was just the bloke on the bench. We could see him attempting to command a bigger salary than Given had which would be laughable tbh or he proves himself in the next few months and also moves on for a nice fat signing on fee leaving us with Krul. I mentioned that as a factor because he and his famly are well settled here and its not so far to go to manchester as london as a commute - but obviously it may only be a minor influence - would agree to your points on harper though again i think his heart is very much here and he knows he would enjoy the good will of the supporters
-
I think he is off to City - don't think he would go to london as he has just kitted out his mansion up here - Bit of a gamble but money talks - shame to see him go but only for the message it sends out - 9-10mill could pay for some reinforcements - no heartfelt sentiment tho - good player but no one is bigger than the club - wouldn't stop me giggling if he went and they got dragged into relegation (remote chance but possible) - I think Harper will sign because he has just shelled out a fortune on remoddeling his house as well
-
There are so many quotes flying around - most of which have been distorted by the journalists concerned - that I genuinely don't know what to think anymore - suppose a part of me still hopes Ashley is goin to make things right but the longer his tenure lasts the less i think it will - at least when shepherd was here you knew he was a genuine fan who wanted the best for the club (even though he was a hamfisted buffoon) with Ashley I am not so sure

Toon's Carroll a target for Ipswich

Allegedly turned up at a local hotel with a mate and two slappers at 6am one thursday a few weeks back (he was on the bench on the saturday) completely off his face and got kicked out half an hour later for smoking in the room - doesn't bode well
