  1. Lived in sunderland for five years and ended up quite liking the place - had some good mates there but man have they got serious chips on their shoulders - fuckin mental - there is an element of real small town to them which they will never shake off but i don't think per capita there are more chavs and skiprats than newcastle - don't think i will ever get over people walking round the town centre in their slippers though(!!) really strange
  2. We had a strip with uneven stripes for a while and the name came from that - from what i recall it has never been an insult and wouldn't bother me now
  3. I just think that second half as usual butts legs go and because barton is so inept he can't cover all of the pitch - thus the defence has to soak up too much pressure - the introduction of faye into midfield might just have given us a bit of power and bite that we lacked - it was like foreman vs mcguigan - we got flattened by a bigger and stronger opponent who as you say may contain journeymen (i personally think they are better than that like) but their height and muscle told in the end
  4. i agree faye is the best cb but the pressure created by the midfield constantly losing the ball and not having any strength is leaving the defense in an alamo type situation - we need someone to take hold of the game in the centre and as i say get some pace up front or play a frontman who can hold the ball and play a pass- which obviously smith is incapable of
  5. Fucking meek in capitulation there like- have thought for a while that butt runs out of steam after about 50 mins and carr should never get a game - pathetic - its thankful that the quality of some of the teams below us is so poor otherwise we really would be in the shite - he needs to address the midfield - barton and butt are not the answer - faye would toughen it up and we need some pace up front - even if he doesn't score at least oba stretches the play
  6. Your suggestion is quite tempting actually. That goal showed that Owen is still class, his positioning and timing to get that header above all the Boro defenders was brilliant. Quite excited by what he might be able to do for us for the first time. Bit confused by the headline though, do you 'ignite' a spark? I thought you created a spark to ignite a flame? Where's the article from? I'd like to contact the editor and have someone fired. Rightly so, the headline is nonsense, he should be flogged before sacked imho
  7. Its only thursday surely there is a plane sometime tomorrow - even more so now rosenthal has gone to lazio
  8. Materazzi was the guy who had ructions with Bellamy every time they were on the same pitch - he always seemed ponderous to me but what do i know the guys a world cup winner
  9. Massimo Tiabi The blind Venician ? Aye thats him he was class
  10. Yeah, the majority of them. Y'know I'm guessing the majority of them haven't been, hence why there have only been about 5 suggested, unless there hasn't been any more than 9 Italians in the PL. There hasn't be a lot like. Carbone was a canny player btw. Did Casiraghi play for Chelsea? i seem to remember he did - could be wrong like - and didn't manure have that excellent goalie for a bit? brilliant shotstopper unless the ball was aimed betwen his legs
  11. Probably our only creator and i hope he goes back to the wing at the expense of duff
  12. I would probably be asking where is the supply gonna come from - certainly not milner and duff by the looks of it - and unless emre suddenly turns into gheorgie hadgi then not from midfield either
  13. Aye its afuckin shambles - to think NUFC might end up being run in a professional manner - bring back the old days i say - southern scumbags might just be starting to twitch slightly - as long as we avoid trouble this season like
  14. Wise has proved himself to be a very astute coach - what he has acheived with leeds this season is nothing short of a miracle - the fact he was an irritating cockney twat as a player is by the by - he was a winner as a player and hopefully this will continue in his coaching career - the only downer you could put on this is if keegan was not involved in the decision to bring him to the club - however i don't beleive that mort would be so stupid as to pull the rug from under keegans feet less than a week after talking him into returning to the club
  15. Agree with Leazes on that - Shepherd was a daft twat at times and liked the sound of his own voice and i never thought much of that insidous little shit douglas hall but point to anywhere previous between the early sixties and late eighties and you see buffoonery on an epic scale - they shouldn't have been allowed to run a bath let alone a football club - the seymours and mckeag eras were a joke and the lack of a domestic trophy in that period is a damning indictment of their stewardship and the wreckage that was left for the hall/shepherd combo to pick up was pathetic given the money thathad gone through the club - remember the halls and shepherds have only overseen a very small percentage of that barren period and bad luck could attributed to the lack of a trophy - the other forty years was a shambolic display of a once great club decaying and dying from within
  16. Its a pity that 'fuck off you skinny armed knobjockey' doesn't rhyme
  17. I don't think the pull of playing in the premiership should be underplayed - its viewed as the top league in the world (rightly or wrongly) and we are among the major players within it - i am not saying we will be able to attract the maor superstars of football but a continual improvement of the squad linked to european involvement will make a more and more attractive proposition. I have absolutely no qualms in regard to keegans influence and ashleys cash enabling to attract some really good players in the near future
  18. I beleive that this is just the tip of the iceberg and is the beginning of the anti-nufc/keegan agenda where every loss will be attributed to tactical naivetey and poor management - its a southern media fuelled witch hunt that will escalate to ridiculous proportions. Whats the bet that the informed(?) broadsheet journos start with their shite tomorrow extolling the virtues of technical managers generally pulling each and every performance to bits. Looking at the facts - we played well in the first half against a very strong Arsenal team who when they stepped it up in the second half we couldn't quite match it - not unlucky - they just were just better - its no disgrace and if we take that level of performance into the rest of the season we will be ok
  19. Was that your pastie? Sorry i seem to have inhaled it along with rest of the greggs savoury counter
  20. I thought their maybe something in this on saturday (its in a thread somewhere) and i certainly hope it proves to be true as his quality is excellent and would be a formidable partner for either taylor ,faye or van buyten
  21. I am pissed off with the expert pundits and journalists as much as any of you - it boils my piss that just because keegan bigs the club up we all get tarred with the delusional brush - however it is standard journalism in this country - they create and then destroy - happens all the time in every walk of life - i am looking forward to it dying down in a week or two and then maybe we can let kev get on with it and make some progress.
  22. That was quite funny. In fairness to Al, he was being quite open and yet non committal about it all. Saying he had now spoke to KK and after he (AS) came back from Uganda in a week they would be speaking again. Hansen didn't do Shearer any favours when he goes "I don't think Kevin will be bringing you in to be a bit part player. I think he'll give you a big say in things, which I think is what you'd want." Whoops. Aye - it was a bit of a cringefest and shearer looked like he was wishing he had gone to uganda a day early - i got the feeling it was meant to be a thirty second soundbite which lineker then turned into a five minute gestapo type interrogation - was just waiting for gruphenfuhrer hansen to apply the thumbscrews
  23. Robson scored twice yesterday i think thats eleven for the season - as with all scottish midfielders its whether he can transfer his form to the premiership - have seen him on setanta and he is a strong runner and quite tall - a bit like nolan - might worth a punt cos i think he would go for under a mill - could be a good squad man
  24. So much more solid than anything we have got and reads the game as well as woodgate - it may be nothing but it was just something that caught my attention
  25. Something happened with Campbell down at portsmouth yesterday - at 1 o'clock redknapp was saying he hadn't turned up and was going to have reshape his team cos he didn't know if he was goin to land or not then by 2 o'clock they reckoned he had a back injury - bit suspicious to me - i know he wants to come here and may have thought redknapp would take him if he had got the job - as he didn't he may try toforce their hand
