We have needed a genuine attacking, wicket taking spinner for years and hopefully he can be the man. Giles played a big part when he was in the team in tandem with the pace bowlers and he made contributions with the bat and in the field, but he wasn't a major attacking threat as a spinner too often. Still be good to have Giles get fit again and provide competiton plus cover to Monty who will hopefully continue his good work and progress so far.

Film/moving picture show you most recently watched

Great film, but I think Midnight Express is better. 172196 The first time i saw Midnight Express many years ago, i'd missed the start of the film. I knew it was based on truth and so was wantign the bloke to get out and escape after all he'd suffered. The i see the full film next time and find out he knew fine well the laws of the country and was smuggling drugs, so it was his own stupid fault he got locked up in a prison like that!!! -
Hinge and Brackett, so are you suggesting the two posters in question are really blokes dressing up as women?
-
I think we're probably paying them about £1m

There is a 5 page thread about our friendly match on the mackems message board, but they're not sad, bitter and obsessed of course, and its not like they have anythign else to be concerneed with like, i don't know, perhaps their own team! Mind you they had about 6 seperate threads when we played PSV so they're getting better!
-
Looks like we'll be dangerous from set pieces this season then...as long as Butt plays!
-
I think Villareal and PSV will have been good warm up games as they are clearly better than the majority of the prem an will get us up to speed better than a few games against shite opposition.

Have to say credit to both teams for tryign to play some attractive passing football to feet and no dirty or cynical tackles at all. Plus Shola continues his impressive scoring record under Roeder!
-
Obviously i hope both hit fantastic form as it helps out NUFC which is all that matters. But in terms of ability at their best then Luque is going to be the better player so you would hope he recahes his best and adapts to the prem if only one of them was to do well. But to be fair to Shola if you judge him under Roeder alone he's looked a better player and has pretty much got a ratio of 1 in 2 so if he can keep that up he wouldn't go far wrong. But ideally we will have signed at least 1 striker who is better than both of them and walks into the team.

Had to like the egg bloke, to demonstrate his invention he forgets to put the egg in first time, and cocks it up the next two times and still gets two dragons to invest in it! But to be fair you can see if it works it could be a potential big seller and two of the dragons definitely thought so.

Dogs without question! Even putting aside all the contributions they make to life as guide dogs for the blind and deaf, police dogs, guard dogs theres one big thing that separates the two for me: Cats are about the only animal other than humans that kills for anythign other than food/neccessity and not only do they often kill for fun they sometimes keep animals alive and piss about with them. So its always bemused me when people tell me they have a cat because they love animals and then don't give a toss when their cat dumps various dead birds on their carpet! At least put a bell on the cat to give birds etc. a chance of hearing it coming if you love animals so much. I don't actually hate cats mind like some do, but you i can't find animals that kill for fun and entertainment as particularly likeable!

I haven't seen the new series but have watched the previous ones and its always enetertaining. Though for this new series it looks like they've lost 3 of the original dragons and replaced them. You do get soem people on it who really do deserve the dragons ripping them to bits and kicking them out on their arses!
-
I've watched every episode so far and its arguably kept getting better, excellent perfromances all round every week with Rob Brydon outstanding.
-
Agree with that but he can fill in in numerous positions so it might be good to have a player like him in a small squad. 168058 I agree, with our woefully short squad a proven prem player who can cover several positions is always worth at least considering, especially left footers.

It is funny how Manu being completely bum raped takes the edge of the hatred

Let's face it, that's not the first or the last Anal assault by a Newcastle player. I agree with you about Oliver, fucking racist scumbag. 167990 At the very best Anal is a xenophobic, inward looking and predjudiced little man, and thats at best. However some of his views are shared by a certain section of toon fans that all things foreign are bad and all things geordie are good, the truht as always is never that simple. 168052 it's not...? Holy Invading Hordes Batman yes, this was a useful post 168055 Am i detecting some subtle and almost imperceptible trace of sarcasm here???

Yeah Everton and Spurs fans have alot of similarites and both have a dislike for NUFC for the fact that we have consistently outshone them in the prem in terms of placing, playing in europe and big transfers which puts a lie to their belief that they still belong to the mythical Big 5 from years and years ago. As it stands Chelski are on their own with Arse/manu/Pool the next group and everybody else is trying to touch that secodn group and take it from there.
-
Thats not so bad then. They won't come close to winning the CL and the league in unlikely and with West Ham taking 20% Spurs aren't getting quite what i thought.

From that perspective I'd say it's very important. Don't slag off Fred for tarnishing the club's image and then diminish the effect of the fan's behavior. 167940 Luckilly its not in the same league, as players can be quite selfish and the fact some other player at some other club may have got booed by his own fans will quickly leave their mind as its not that important. And fans of every other club pretty much do it! I just don't like my clubs fans doing it and people thinking i might be, because i am not and never will. Even the stuff Fat Fred gets up to as embrassing as it is and in need of being stopped probably doesn't directly put off loads of players, in fact many seem to think we have a good chairman because he backs the manager with cash.

Jesus wept you sound like an old cloth-capped man! Re: Butt. That twat should never play for us again, end of story. If he's not on the pitch, he won't get booed and embarass all you sensitive souls.... 167846 Renton man, you're like a huffy woman sometimes. As long as he plays for us, no one should be booing him. For a start it sounds utterly retarded, and secondly we are not in a position to be able to afford to hound a lad who is on daft money to the point where he'll dread taking possession of the ball. We're stuck with him because of the money we pay him, so if he gets a game (and he might have to if we pick up any injuries) I want him to play well and not get booed by silly arseholes in the crowd. Don't be a silly tart. 167850 At no point in the history of football has continually booing a player helped that player to play better or helped inspire his team mates to lift their game. And since supporters should want their team to win football matches then booing your own players is moronic and counterproductive. It also makes our fans look like sad, fickle litte bastards on tv to other fans and the media which whilst not that important isn't great. If the boss decides Butt is staying and is going to get the odd game then i will support him in the hope he does a job for us and helps the team i support do well. But sadly to some people its more important to give a player stick and make childish pantomime noises than it is to see their team win. 167924 I would imagine the people who boo do it to stop him being selected. And who gives a shit how it appears on TV to other fans? 167931 I said it wasn't important but i personally prefer not to be lumped in with wankers that boo their own players all the time. And should potential new signings see that it hardly helps your clubs image. Booing aplayer won't stop them being selected as managers do as they please and i think you're giving some of these "fans" a little too much credit as most of the do it because they think its big and clever and like getting their hatred of a player on show even when it hinders their own team.

So if we sold Bellamy and the next day we signed a keeper or a right back, he'd be his replacement then by that logic, because he was signed just after the sale. Owen was bought to replace Shearer, everyone at the club involved in the deal and the two strikers themselves said he was and i am not going to argue with the two players involved and the men who paid the money for them because i'm not that arrogant and quite frankly that would be stupid. If Bellamy hadn't left us then Shepherd would still be looking to replace Shearer with a massive, high profile goal scorer of the very highest calibre and so he would have done so. That would mean Owen since there was nobody even close to his claibre available to replace Shearer that we had a chance of signing and Souness who was boss at the time was a big fan of Owen and would want him. As for Bellamy asking for a request, do you mean in the same way he reacted slightly over the top when a microphone was shoved in his face after a bad result against Norwich and he as told about Rooney only for him to then in the cold light of day on reflection say of course he'd want to stay and fight for his place at a club who try to get players like Rooney. Because if thats what you mean then i'd have no problem with it.

If Sol is fantastic and Arsenal shouldn't let him go then surely we should be interested! And if Bridge should end up going for a cheap or even reasonable fee and we don't go for him when we are desperate for a quality LB i'd be seriously pissed off. If he isn't available or will really cost alot then fair enough, but it'll be inetersting to see what happens.

I see we're allowing diagonals then... Westgate Road
