Definitely would like to see 2 new starting fullbacks, and ideally a back up LB to kick Baba out the squad. The another CB or 2 and like you say a player with a bit of flair, who can do something out of nothing would be good.

Considering the soap opera/circus that is NUFC its amazing how quickly we have went from being run by morons with Roeder and his team in charge to bringing in Big Sam, Ashley buying out the Halls and then Fat Fred and bringing in his people! Throw in the fact we already have players in with more on the way, potentially big money available, the two key backroom people from Bolton likely to be here soon and i still can't believe this is happening to be honest!

Tough one isn't it, we're not in europe and haven't done well in the prem for a while so it rules out a certain level of player on the whole. But we've pulled of big signings before and will do again! I really want to see another top class CB and fullbacks coming in so that we never again see Baba and Carr as our fullback pairing! Also whether he comes out publically and says it or just tells Big Sam i hope Owen decides for definite soon so the manager knows whether he has to chase another striker or not with the money available.

Obviously unless there's a direct quote the £50m is a figure the papers have decided to throw out there, so we don't know how much Big Sam will get. There is clearly going to be some money there for him, perhaps alot of it and i'm intrigued as to who he'll go for. As it stands if the stories are true he's looking at the likes of Beye, Hypia, Geremi etc. who won't cost that much. That would leave a hell of alot of money over for some signings that we haven't been linked with yet, who knows who they might be! Be nice to see a good amount sent on a left back, and preferably 2 LB's so we can dump Babayaro.

Didn't he have a reputation at the smogs for being a home type player who disappeared in alot of away game and wasn't one for the tougher games? Still if he's free, or near to free then its helping build our squad up and at 28 (i assumed he was a fair bit older) he's the right age to add some experience and should be at his peak.

Yeah, some of the mackems seem to think Keane has the attraction of a combination of Fergie, Wenger and Mourinho rolled into one! The truth is this is the best chance they've had in years because they are run better, have money and a manager who will attract better players than their previous ones, but they also seem to forget their club is currently known for record relegation seasons, has never been established in the prem for any real length of time and they may also not be willing to match the wages being thrown roudn by the likes of West Ham if they're competing for a player. I think they'll probably do ok next season to tbh, hope they go down, but don't see it being that liekly.

Hayward (who I assume is doing the reviewing) was only appointed yesterday and Ashley only reached 90% today. Be interesting to see what eventually gets spent because as things stand with the money in from Parker we've hardly spent anything to get Viduka, Barton and Rozenhal in. Obviously Big Sam will have been given some indiciation of what he's likely to get, so perhaps his next target will give an idea of what money we're talking about.

Plenty did a while back. Possibly even a majority wouldn't have had him! I think somebody with his ability is invariably worth a gamble if they're currently out of form and/or overweight etc.

tbh, the defence was already ripped up. Bramble had been shown the door before Large Sam came, Moore had decided to leave, Babayaro is, well, Babayaro and Carr has been shown to be inferior to Solano. I would think it fairly obvious to Steveie Wonder that the defence needed serious surgery. FYP It is good that Big Sam has moved quickly to get defenders in though, instead of pissing about doing nowt like his predecessors. He was too late in getting here to get Distin as he said himself and then unlucky that Chelski wanted Haim or else we could already be sitting here with 2-3 defenders in and looking for more.

Yeah, cheers for that David. To be fair to him, i think he means something more like "exceptional" in that if nothing out of the ordinary occurs to change the situation then he'll be signing for NUFC. Just hope if he does sign that he's good as its dragged on a fair old while now!

Thats right, we'd all love to see Baba and Carr out on their arses, but until Big Sam has his new defenders in he can't just chuck everybody out or we'll have no squad at all. I can see Baba being dumped if anyone is willing to have him, but Carr may get till January under Allardyce regardless of who comes in, we'll have to wait and see!

I'm apprehensive about Sam's ability in the transfer market, his previous tactics seems to be to get ten players in on frees or for very little and hope that 2 or 3 of them are decent and nobody mentions the rest of them, he can't do that now that he has money to spend. I'm sure we won't see that here as he can go for proven players with the money he'll have. What i mean is he acts quickly and doesn't just go for big money signings, so he's got Viduka on a free and but for Chelski would have had Haim for nowt as well, and he wanted Distin but wasn't up and running here in time. But i agree we don't want complete wastes of space clogging up the squad, and i don't expect it to happen either.

It was the fact Roeder had made a big thing about it being Luque's chance, that he should show what he can do and show he deserves a chance. Luque played well, worked pretty hard i think and scored the only goal of the game. So Roeder naturally dropped him from the team completely when the lad might just have had a tiny bit of confidence and somethign to possibly build on. You're over egging that a bit I think, he scored a good goal (but that was down to Milner's cross really), but other than that he wasn't exceptional (although he was far from rubbish either). The thing is I can see why he's not shown his quality with the injury issues and lack of playing (possible a few of our players had similar issues last season), but it's his general disinterest that's his biggest problem IMO. He just never looks like he wants to be here or play particularly. I never said he was exceptional, i said he did at least everything Roeder had demanded of him and warrented a chance to build on that. That was bad management and bad man-management from Roeder. I agree his own seeming disinterest and lack of application hasn't helped Luque either though.

Be interesting to see how much Big Sam get's to spend, as things stand with the money for Parker coming in, we haven't actually spent anything yet to get Barton and Viduka, and if/when we sign Rozehnal we won't really have spent much at all. With Allardyce's ability to get bargains in, if he does that and gets big money to spend he will transform our squad.

I don't know what he's like as a player but i'll back Big Sam's judgement and so its good to see the first of the much needed defenders on their way. We need him to be followed by another CB, a LB and preferably a RB as well!
