That wasn't the only time around that period he seemed about as sane as David Icke. About that time 89-92, he proposed we build a ground holding 80,000 in WASHINGTON to share with the mackems. Hoo, there's nowt wrong with Washington...apart from the obvious Washington isn't that bad, it's a bit up market from Crammy, I don't like new towns though, but Newcastle United in fucking Washington It's actually classed as City Of Sunderland. If it wasn't for the success of Nissan I doubt even the Mackems would want us. Every year you can see gritters from Sunderland council go up the A1231, get to the Mill House roundabout and turn back. They never venture in to Washy. They're quite happy to have their name printed on our wheely bins though

I'm still 50/50. I'd like him to be a success but I can't shake of the idea he'll bend over to keep Ashley happy because he knows that by rights he shouldn't be in this job.

There needs to be some serious questions asked about SJH's mental wellbeing when he proposed the 1991 plans for stadium expansion. I literally have no idea what's going on in that image

They've been cracking down on people who sit in L7 for a while. In the relegation season there was the Phoenix Security fuck on and at the start of this season they made it a members/season ticket only area so they had a better idea of who was sitting there. They didn't factor in people buying tickets in the Milburn and just moving across 5 minutes before kick off. The daft thing is that while many of the anti-Ashley songs come from up there all of the huge protests have happened outside the ground involving people who are dotted around the gaff. Very few protests happen inside, the odd "fat cockney rapist" banner aside.

A new Sports-Direct shop. Don't joke about that. It may have been my hangover but for the first time on Saturday I realised how much that brand is pushed at us on a match day. Two signs on the Gallowgate, a banner lying in the middle of the pitch and the fucking electronic advertising boards all advertising that bloody brand. Surely they can't stop fans who want to sing congregating there? Unless they move the away fans back to the corner or just leave it empty? The singing section has been such a successful idea that I can't see fans just finding another area to take over and use. Got a bloodied knuckle punching the fuck out the SD sign at the back of the NE Corner when the 4th went in. Fight the power, comrade

All Family enclosure. Would help if I read the thread properly That'll be an experience for the away fans. This year they're next to a bunch of skinny teenage charvas offering them out, next year they'll be next to Mum, Dad and the kids who'll spend the entire game whinging about the stairs and complaining to the stewards when they hear a swearword.

Brilliant thread t0m. I've been looking for that photo of Castle Leazes for years. In hindsight I'm glad we were forced to stay at St James'. It's nice to know that we're still playing at our home while many other clubs have fucked off to identikit stadiums on industrial estates outside the towns and cities they're meant to represent.

What are they going to do with Level 7 instead?
-
I'd be surprised if there was a rabbit off with this one. You'd need more than the referee and Rosicky to be in on it to create a game like yesterday's.
-
I wonder if "Saint Niall" will apologise for banning them all from the ground when they're inevitably found to have done nowt wrong? Innocent until proven guilty an'aal that.

I love it when Shints gets all cryptic.

He has been. He was back in the squad for the first time in a while this weekend.

Fellani elbowing Williamson in the very same game. Marriner was useless that day. If we hadn't won there'd have been hell on. -

I need to see pissed Alan To be fair he was brilliant in the BBC interview. Quite inspiring actually. Bizarre someone can come across so well on tele but sound like such a goon when you read his words in the newspaper. Hitler was the same -
I don't want either Shepherd or Ashley. The former spends beyond his means, the latter doesn't spend at all but most importantly neither know how to run a football club.

What a fucking game That's what being a Newcastle fan is about. Not your tinpot trophies, not your megamoney signings, it's watching your team snatch victory (well, almost) from the jaws of defeat and vice versa. Our fans were immense today. Very few left up in Level 7 and the whole stadium was bouncing in the second half. Tiote and Barton drove us in the second half. The sooner we can get those two together in the middle of the park the better. -
Mental. It looked innocuous at the time.

Recently celebrated his 30th B'day. There's something about that which, while funny, is also tragic. I bet the poor sod was over the moon

Certainly. NUST lost its way when it became a trust.
