I'd pack Allardyce's bags for him if we could get Deschamps but the fact he's been linked with Chelsea tells you everything you need to know. I highly doubt we'd get someone of his caliber in due to our history of hiring and firing. To an outsider, someone who just manages and has no affiliation to the club, this job must look shit. It's a sure fire way to fuck up your career and the only people that would come are managers clinging to their reputation and looking for one last big pay off (Souness) and managers who know this job is above them but see it as a chance to do something notable (Roeder). The only other option is the sheet metal workers son from Newcastle.

Personally, i'll be very pissed off. I can't see him becoming the manager ending any other way but badly so I get the feeling i'll be saying 'I told you so' quite a bit.

I can think of another one this year, when the black child of a British man (from Murton, actually) was abducted in Nigeria. There was far more 'newsworthy' information available at the disposal of the media yet it barely got a mention. I also think that certain areas of the media and their fascination with paedophilia is another reason why this story refuses to go away. Sorry Skol but that argument carries no weight. The flaw in your argument is Souness, a manager with a history of winning things. People lose their way, for whatever reason or succeed in one place but fail in another although the role is basically the same. Allardyce is just another example of how someone might work in one club but is totally out of his depth at another. Yes, but Souness was shit and even though he had quite a substantial trophy cabinet he'd ruined every club he'd been at. Souness was arguably only a success at Rangers, and that was down to the fact they were by far the best team in a very poor league. But then as soon as results went against us, certain people would bang their fists on the table and moan that "he's not good enough", "He hasn't got a proven track record" etc.

I don't like agreeing with Fish usually, but he's spot on. Far too many people expect us to be back in the top six straight away this season and it's quite simply not the case. We're not a top six side, we haven't been for a long, long time and anyone believing we can get there this year is a moron. We harp on about 'planning' and getting in a manager who can build a club and when we do, because his first six or seven months aren't off the wall people want to fucking get rid. Give me a break Why don't we give someone sufficient time to build Newcastle United into a club we can be proud of rather than acting like spoiled fucking children when we don't get preferable results against team that we probably should be beating. Don't get me fucking started. The way the British media have drooled over this photogenic white child is sickening. Hundreds of children go missing every year and yet because she's a bonny child from a middle class family it's front page news not just for a week, or a month but for over half the year. It's a sad situation but I am far past the same point as Patrokles and never want to see that childs face on my TV screen again. I don't really care for the parents either and I pity those who gave money to the 'Maddie fund' only to have it spent on paying their mortgage.

Martins looks busy but he wastes far too many chances to appease some fickle fuckers. While I don't think he's anywhere near the best striker at the club we need someone like him at the minute.

What he said. We're level on points with Blackburn, who have a manager that some of our fans wanted to replace Allardyce with. They've had poor results along with us, yet I can't say i've heard many Blackburn fans calling for Hughes' head. I personally think there is a huge sense of delusion around this club currently. We're not a top half club, there are teams in much better positions than us who deserve it more. If we do manage to finish in the top half this season i'll be surprised.

Have you not realised that 99% of our fans are fickle cockheads? We really need a world class striker. Far too many player who've had half decent seasons masquerading as Premiership players, while none of our current strikers will ever get 20 goals in this league. Where we're going to get one of these 20 goal a season players I do not know.
