  1. I'm not a policy maker alex, although that is clearly a job you think I'm suited to. I think the best way to "tax" them is educate kids to the costs of obesity. Obesity is not only a limitation of opportunities, it can ruin your social life, your prospects for family, force you to suffer embarrasment more often than someone who isn't fat. I guess a lot of where I'm coming from is frustration, both with myself and for my sisters, who are both now officially morbidly obese. I hate to see them missing out on things because of their weight and it upsets me when I see them hopelessly caught in a vicious cycle that no amount of gentle persuasion and cajoling from the family will help them escqape. I want some big shock or external force to kick them out of their malaise. if the government attacked the problems on two fronts; taxing the current obese people and educating the next generation, I think they could solve a growing problem. all of the ideas I have are very quickly dissected and fairly blatant flaws are apparent; put tax on fatty foods, bring in a punishment tax for obese people, charge obese people more for public transport and that kind of thing. none of them will work for very obvious reasons... but thankfully the government has far wiser minds than mine in their employ.

  5. not cheap, but... and shock of shocks, he was suggested to me by a scout! playing well so far,
  6. nice! for two reasons; 1) it got the flirting between J69 and Craig consigned to memory and 2) a win at OT eludes me most of the time, even with a bohemoth of a team, sporting five "world class players" and when Man U are wallowing mid-table.
  7. the BMI thing is bollocks mind. reckons I should be 11 stone... which is frankly the type of ethereal fay build that squeezes into skinny jeans and sulks in a bar.. not for me, no thank you.
  8. I will not put people with impaired mental facility in the same bracket as the majority of overweight people. the majority of overweight people are not overweight because of metabolism, the majority of overweight people are overweight because they don't take responsibility for their actions. ... this is going to endear me to a lot of people isn't it
  9. How would it be more easily attacked then? A 'fat tax' would be an absolute nightmare and totally impractical to administer. like I said in my post, it's less socially acceptable fat. Hence "attack"ing it, as in getting support against fat people is easier than gaining public support against alcohol. the critic guy, whose name escapes me, offered a couple of suggestions; something about hiking the price on traditionally fatty foods like crisps, butter, cakes etc. Personally I'd go so far as to make a quarterly Dr's appointment a legal requirement, if you're over weight to the degree that it is dangerous to your health, then you should be punished for your gluttony. I fully accept (and expect) a lot of people wil retort that they are happy with their size and why should they have to conform to modern societies current take on what is normal etc. etc. but this is not a simply aesthetic thing for me, overweight people cost this country far more those who are under or "normal" weight. Overweight people have a stigma attached to them, lazy, smelly, etc. and I know a lot of this is bullshit, but facts is facts, if you're overweight you're far more likely to smell than others because you will sweat more, you're more likely to take the escalators than the stairs because a) it's uncomfortable 2) it's embarrassing and iii) it's a genuine effort. I'm not saying "Fuck the Fatties" just, (I know this sounds patronising) help them.
  10. never said it was the only problem... just one that I think is more easily attacked than alcohol abuse. it is (for better or worse) more socially acceptable to be drunk than it is to be fat.
  11. fixed it for you never said I was "trim" just that I'd lost weight since the time I cast a shadow over poor Scotty
  12. aye but when when some fat bugger's free will to scoff a cow everyday costs the NHS billions and that cost is passed onto me... it impinges on my free will. I'd agree that a lot fo the times simply not eating shit food isn't coming close to the real reason the person is eating, but if you at least take away that self destructive option... surely SURELY it would help the fatties.
  13. fuck you fat man I'm down to 13 and 1/4 stone at my worst I was 14 and a half! lose anymore weight and people would mistake me for a flagpole!
  14. his basic concept wasn't a bad idea, basically making morbidly obese people pay more for food and stuff so as to discourage their god awful eating habits. and while they might try to blame it on glands and all that shite I'm sure stuffing a chocolate gateaux sandwich down your throat doesn't fucking help!
  15. I pay emergency tax! Technically you claim that back though, being a full-time student, don't you? technically I still pay it though don't I?
  16. I pay emergency tax!
  17. didn't Gordon Ramsey's food critic chum already propose that? I'd happily agree to a fat tax.
  18. they've got a point like....
  19. I appreciate that it gives him an extra couple of seconds to make a decision, but more often than not, that decision is a negative one and could have been done a couple of seconds earlier
  20. <- does the "I was right dance" fuck you, it's a rare opportunity for me to celebrate!
  21. he's average. better players out there, and certainly have been better Premiership performaners in Dec. I think OPTA use things like distance traveled, tackles attempted and passes completed. well Parker runs about alot, he attempts a shit load of tackles and he makes a lot of short passes. this doesn't mean the runs are helpful, the tackles are won and if the Passes are at all useful or not
  22. Gerld I don't think anyone is suggesting a blanket ban on dogs, just certain breeds which, whether you like it or not, are genetically predisposed towards aggressive and violent behaviour. It's that predilection that attracts the wrong kind of owner, which leads to the dog getting the wrnog kind of training and therein lies the problem. by collie, was that a serious post in the middle of all these puns.
  23. What can I say, everytime I see your name I think of that gay-ass surfer-dude necklace. p.s. I didn't make a typo....
