  1. Re-establishes? What like back at the beginning of the last century?
  2. Saw I Daniel Blake the other night. It's very good and good to see that Geordies aren't made to all look like fuckwits for once. It's a fucking depressing film though. I watched Tyrannosaur the other week and that was positively light hearted in comparison.
  3. I actually thought that was genuine until it got onto wearside Jack
  4. His improvement has been vast over the last 12 months. I'll be really interested to see how he goes against India. I know Pakistan are right up in the test rankings but they don't have a great record away from home so India will be the first of the real top teams he's played since coming into this form. If he can perform against them then people will really take notice of him.
  5. Yeah I think Ali is selected as a bowler but the reality is, he's more of a batsman who can bowl. So he could get picked as either but only as a bowler because we're so short of options. Stokes could get into the team as a genuine batsman or a genuine bowler. Either way he's a great asset to have. I don't think Woakes would ever get into the team as a batsman (unless he can keep on improving the way he has in the last year or so) but he's doing a very good job down the order these days.
  6. My thinking is pretty much the same as PaddockLad's. I just expect something bad to happen sooner or later but I have to admit, at the moment though I can't see what it can be. The size and quality of our squad and Rafa's rotation policy, make an injury crisis much more unlikely and I think it would take a hell of a lot of injuries to really impact us that much. I suppose Shelvey is the only player who I don't really think we have a replacement for. I think Diame could take over in the centre of midfield but he's clearly a very different type of player. But aside from him we seem to have a good deal of cover for every position, to the point that even losing a couple of players in a position wouldn't harm us that much. Just think if Gayle got injured, we have Mitro, Perez and Murphy to cover him. If we lose Ritchie, we have Atsu or Yedlin who look like they could comfortably slot in without it costing us too much. Add to that the funds we have available come January and it looks nothing to worry about at all. Going back to the original question, I think Norwich will be right up there and probably go up automatically. They seem to have a good manager and a much better squad than the rest of the league. Brighton have been right up there the last few seasons and I can see no reason to think they won't be again this season. I think Villa have left themselves a lot to do to try and challenge for automatic promotion but Bruce knows what he's doing at this level and they have a lot of firepower in their attack so I can see them getting into the play offs. I do expect Huddersfield to drop off because of the size of their squad but I think they can stay in the play off mix and I agree with others who have mentioned Shef Wed. No one else is looking particularly strong but every season you get some random team coming from nowhere and making a late charge up the league. This season will probably be no exception but who it will be is anyones guess.
  7. They'd do it for less than six. I reckon Satan was robbed there.
  8. If that had just been some shite someone on their forum had put on for a laugh it would have been ok (not particularly witty, I'm sure it could be done a lot better) but if someone has actually written it as a book, it defies belief. It's even worse if someone has published it.
  9. A dreadful multi coloured item of footwear favoured by persons without any self respect.
  10. Was the most comfortable game I've seen this season. We should have scored more and did start to become slightly worrying midway through the second half when we hadn't finished them off, but we dominated throughout. It's the best I've seen Perez play this season too. Can't believe we didn't get that penalty. The standard of refereeing is truly awful in this league mind.
  11. Aye you used to think he could get a decent score but now he looks like a bowler and nothing else. Woakes and Ali are much closer but Stokes is probably the only player in the top ten all rounders who could legitimately get in the team as a batsman or a bowler (I suppose Ali can as well but he's only really in for bowling because of a lack of decent options).
  12. I woke up about ten past five this morning and caught the end of it (not sure he wasn't offering a shot). What a good test match it was. I think they'll still struggle away from home where they need a seem attack but at home now they certainly look like a proper team. It would be really good to see them get a win against a top test playing nation, just as long as it's not us. Stokes was superb, it's ridiculous that he's not ranked as the number one test all rounder now. Looking at the top ten (of which we have four), I'm not really sure how many of them really are all rounders mind (Broad, Starc and Herath are in there).
  13. Can't have many more chances surely. Never looks comfortable at the crease for me.
  14. A fantastic morning session has just changed in the space of an over.
  15. Looks like they're going to make a real match of it. I still fancy us to come through but it's pretty even at the minute.
  16. It's looking very much like they're going to have a first innings lead.
  17. We're liking these last overs of the sessions.
  18. That might well help Ashwin. I think I'll stick some money on him getting most wickets in the series. Although I'd imagine the odds won't be good.
  19. Tbf, a lot of our fanbase confuse Lee Ryder for a legitimate source of insight.
  20. Of all the teams that look most threatened by relegation, they have the best goal scorer in Defoe and the most experienced premier league manager. In that respect you could say they have the best chance of getting out of it. I still think they look a very good bet to go down like. And if Defoe gets injured for any length of time they'd be completely fucked.
  21. I'd probably not pay like as I have my parents sky go and I can just plug my laptop into the telly if I'm struggling to get a stream on Kodi. And for our matches I'll either be there or in the pub. But I'm interested to have a look at what options there are.
  22. They have to let one of the spinners start at least. I can't see Broad being much use to us at all in this match. Might have been worth leaving him out and going with four spinners. Not that I think we'd ever go that way.
  23. The matches maybe (and yestderdays training by the looks of it) but there will have been training before hand and just being away from home in this sort of environment (with the very different security and such). He's bound to be a bit more comfortable with it in the future if he comes back. I'm not saying there's much (if any) improvement as a player he's going to get from it but I just think it will help him be more comfortable with the situation whenever his real time comes.
  24. I just think at his age any time he spends with the rest of the squad is going to be valuable. So will spending time over in the sub continent. Ok so he might not play but it seems that he's destined to play at some point in the future. When that time comes he'll have this experience to fall back on.
