I've tried watching it before, had to turn it off before the end. It seemed like a pretty fucking shitty life if you ask me. I'm hoping I'll feel more uplifted by it at the pictures.

Well nothing he's done so far makes it look likely I agree (although I still say that in effect he's done it already with Perez and even Diame to an extent) but I think our attacking capabilities could look a lot weaker if sticks to one and then plays Colback and Hayden in the middle.

If we don't go with Diame in the centre, and play what are essentially two defensive midfielders in there, I think there's more of a chance that we'll play two up front. If we're relying on our creativity coming from the flanks then you would think we'd need to have an aerial threat so that means we need to look at playing Mitro or Murphy and I don't see Gayle getting dropped.

Rafa obviously had some faith in him so it's not the best news for us. But I think it's clear that Rafa works to a system with his coaches so I don't think it will be a problem for us to replace him. I agree that continuity would have been part of the reason for him staying in the summer and now we've had a few months of the players working with the other coaches, that side of it isn't an issue either. I wish him luck up there in non league football and genuinely hope he can win the league with Hearts.

The whole left side of the pitch needs replacing in the summer (although I'll reserve judgement on Lazaar until I've seen more of him). I wouldn't be against keeping Gouffran as a squad member if he had time left on his contract. But I'm not keen on, and can't see us, offering him a new one.

Rafa's Anita was still looking shit in midfield at the start of the season. He looked competent at rightback at the end of last season though. He's another who's out of contract in the summer but he's younger and Rafa does seem to love him so I could see him getting a new contract.

I watched Miracle on 34th street for the umpteenth time on Sunday. And Bad Santa for the first time. 34th Street was much the better I thought. I've got briefs for It's A Wonderful Life at the Tyneside Cinema in a couple of weeks and the new Star Wars a couple of days before. Can't wait for that weekend.

He's done a job this season and balanced out the team but he's not been great. And I wouldn't expect more of him if we go up. He's also in his 30's now so I expect this will be his last season.

Gouffran is out of contract in the summer. I can't see it being renewed.

I think we need an attacking midfielder and we might have to bite the bullet and just get one that does us for the rest of the season. We're highly unlikely to get better than Shelvey in January. If we get promoted and buy one they I'd want us to be looking for an improvement on Shelvey tbh. If we go up we definitely need a number 10 and a left winger. They would be my priorities.

I don't think I'd want any more than that other than squad players. Personally I think 4 quality players would be ideal.

Definitely don't think Anita is any more a premier league quality central midfielder than Colback is. The last thing I'd want to us to is go for an almost completely new team if we go up. Promoted teams need to build on what's already there not start completely a new.

Or playing Mitro and Gayle. One thing I did take from Friday was that when we tried to attack them to get the equaliser, we still looked like we could create even without Shelvey and only having nine men. Not having Shelvey will be a blow but I think we can get by without him.
