I dunno. I keep trying to be positive but there's too many past fuck ups that I'm finding it impossible. Last summer after Janmaat, Cabella and SDJ came in quickly I thought things were on the up but it's just been one fuck up after another since then.

As others have said, Carver could argue that he hasn't been given a fair crack as the squad he was given was awful to begin with. Let's face it we had a shit start to the season under Pardew when just about everyone was fit so you could argue Carver has point when he's said he couldn't do more with what was left. Add to that the fact he's cheap and it's promoting from within which is what they like and there's your reasons for him to get the job!

The reason we have no clue is that the people charged with picking our new manager have no clue either!

It's not like there was any evidence that Carver was good at the job he was doing before he put in charge of the team. He's coached the team that for the past five years has tried the same floated freekick to Williamson, has had no style, never managers to get players into the box, and cannot defend to save their lives. I'd have no problem with the club wanting to keep some coaches regardless of which manager they appoint (as long as he gets to bring in some of his guys too as needed) because that what a lot of clubs do. But this guy just seems incompetent.

Fuck off you're just praying for him to say you were right all along Aye I'll buy that the threat of relegation put things on hold to an extent but they've only realised it was a threat in the last month or so. They should have been finished the process of narrowing down the shortlist before then.

It's the speed of the appointment for me as much who it is. We need a massive amount of work this summer and need someone in place as soon as possible. If it drags on it makes it all the bigger struggle and just shows them up for not having a clue what they are doing. The time since Pardew left has meen more than enough to confirm Carver cannot get the job and allow all the legwork necessary to find out who is available, interested and capable. If they're still going through that process now they want fucking!

Thought even with the rather fantastic tits on show, that scene was totally gratuitous. But the outcome more than made up for it. Would have hated to see Bronn go out like that.

Was a fantastic test match, easily the best I've ever watched. It's a shame the football got in the way on Sunday because I missed most of Stokes batting but I really enjoyed his bowling in both innings (even if he got no luck on Saturday). I just hope we can build around Root, Stokes and Butler because they all look like they're going to be very good players.

It all just sounds like a PR excersise to me. They're not actually interested in doing better just looking like they want to do better. An appointment of a new head coach by the end of next week would be a step in the right direction but the appointment of Carver would just prove that it's a waste of time listening to anything that comes out the club.

If by short sighted approach you're talking about how we play football in this country then yes you're right. I don't really think that's the academies fault though, it's just ingrained into us in this country.

It's a terrible example because the reason why he wouldn't have come through the academy is the same reason he's been shit for us. He's not physically suited to the premier league (should say English football as we'll probably find out next season he's not good enough for the championship either). He's a tidy player but he can't drive a team on and he's easily knocked off the ball.

Just a shame Butler went last ball. Hopefully the bowlers will be up to scratch tomorrow.

Root and Stokes have saved us today so it's a shame for both of them not to get the centuries they deserved.
