I think Cabayes provided just as many quality ones tbf and I think most of Raylors corners are fucking woeful. What he perhaps is better at is the freekicks that he just plays into the box. Cabaye seems particularly poor at those at the moment.

People forget that 90% of Raylors set pieces are also shite. He just gets remembered for the good ones. I think Walrus's point of getting overrun in midfield is certainly valid and I just don't think we have the players to play an effective 4-4-2 unless Cabaye and Tiote are firing on all cylinders. You need wingers who are terrorising the opposition and whipping crosses in or are working really hard. Jonas has always done the working hard bit but now seems to have lost the ability to effectively join in the attack. Ben Arfa is a constant threat but he's all over the place rather than giving us an outlet out wide. If you cant stretch the play out wide then you need to be able to boss the middle and if the opposition has more players (and ones built like brick shit houses like Diame) then you can't do that either. I personally think Pardew has identified this as a problem but doesn't know how to solve it without putting Ba back out left. Given Cisse's form at the moment you would find it difficult to justify playing him centrally ahead of Ba but I'm not sure how else we can do it.

Well certainly in the four times I've seen us at wembley, the only time we came close to actually putting in a performance was the semi against Chelsea when we at least scored. So you were probably as well off not seeing them!

This is a key issue for me and I think anyone would be mad to ignore it. Yes there are other issues but a lot of them stem from this, without Tiote, Cabaye has to do more donkey work and can't influence the attacking play so much and without Tiote, we get physically bossed a lot more (as we saw clearly yesterday with Diame). Anita clearly will never be the sort of presence Tiote is. As well as being by far our best defender, Colo also helps us play a lot more football as he's clearly much more comfortable on the ball than any of Taylor, Williamson or Perch. This is all not say that Pardew doesn't have a job on his hands to get us going again even when all three of these players are back playing together as he clearly does. Simpson is getting worse, Cisse isn't firing at all, Jonas is offering very little in an attacking sense anymore, and generally there seems to be no pattern to our play and distinct lack of a clear formation a lot of the time. If Pardew really is the manager he was being lauded as being last season he needs to show it soon!

Just got back. Class time and brilliant town, just a shame it's so fucking far to the ground, I'd just about lost interest in the match by the time we got there. Still, the forty minutes of the dont sell Cabaye chant on the walk back made it worth it! Can't really remember much of the match if I'm honest although I thought it seemed like both Anita and Marveaux had better games. Obertan shite as usual though.

I think saying all three played against the makems is overstating things. Started would be a better description. And Colo didn't play against Spurs!

You would hope that with Colo and Tiote and a few other senior players, it would give a good chance for some of the young uns to show us what they can do. I always feel that if you just throw a load of kids in at the same time, they're are never going to show their best.

Colo had a mare today like. He really struggled against Suarez. Don't think the sending off was anywhere near as bad as some in the press are suggesting but it was a poor challenge all the same. Yet again we've went there with the wrong attitude for me. They're shit and that's the way we should have attacked them but instead we played like they were one of the top teams. They aren't and they won't be under Rodgers!

Aye, too big for Pardew but not Rodgers. Makes no sense at all but then again sense and scousers rarely go hand in hand. I also found it incredible that quite a few of them seemed to think Thompson is the best or one of the best pundits! I don't think I'm being biased in thinking the man is a total cock!
