  1. Oh please. Absolutely none of our players deserve to be talked about in such terms. They do like, they were dross. I'm not one to knock williamson, I think he's been a million extremely well spent but he was tortured today. Even Heskey looked good against him and if Simpson doesn't want to sign a new contract then he can fuck off, he's a very average player.
  2. Taking off Nzogbia was the most bizarre decision I've ever seen tbh.
  3. Williamson and simpson were fucking awful but apart from them we did well. Brilliant for cisse to score and his movement was good all game. And cheers alex for taking off your most threatening player and replacing him with Heskey. Good job!
  4. Your marks for Shola and Best were are way too high. I could barely bring myself to score them one between them. Can't believe we won that playing so badly but fair play to the lads fir hanging on in there.
  5. Good on him, everything about the goal (his lay off, run & finish) looked to show the confidence he's seemed to lack all season thus far. Hopefully he can kick on from this and actually become a worthwhile member of the squad from now on.
  6. Really fear for us toinght. Our forwards are championship standard at best and the centre of our midfield is going to be the same tonight with Cabaye banned. One look at our team is going to boost them no end and after our last couple of results our confidence will be low. Can see this being a game without any positives for us tbh.
  7. Can't really see us pulling anything out of this with Shola and Best in the team. Both of them are worse than shite.
  8. I think he was right to talk up the club and look high. We qualified for the Champions League twice, without a doubt I think for a period only Man Utd or Arsenal were more attractive, we were certainly equal to Liverpool and maybe above Chelsea till Abramovic came, you only had to look at the players we signed and the clubs we were signing them from to see we were big players. Totally agree with everything your saying here Stevie. Fat Fred fucked up because he thought discipline was our problem and that Souness was the right man to sort it out. As Leazes constantly points out, he then went and backed his manager to the hilt to try and move us forward. Shepherd may well be an odious bloke but in hindsight most of what he did for the club was positive and had got us to the stage where we were the third biggest club in the country (until Chelsea got the Russian money) and I think we would have been able to attract a very high calibre of manager. Unfortunately he undid all of the good work by making the Souness decision.
  9. Piss poor article that shows nothing really in terms of new and forward thinking. If we do have a budget set aside for bringing in talented youngsters all well and good. As long as it doesn't come at the expense of the budget for the first team. Of course "£15m over the next few years" could just equate to a million or so a season as far as we know!
  10. Not seen anything of him but apparently this Remi Streete kid is a top prospect. Supposedly we had to tie him down early because Manure were very keen.
  11. Fucking hell, I used to be class at this but I thought I was doing well getting us into the wafa cup in my third season on the new one until I saw how well some of you are doing. Back to the drawing board methinks!
  12. If he's cheap enough, and it provides us with reasonable enough cover, then I really can't see a problem with it. Especially if he's quick, as we've struggled against fast strikers this season. I think people automatically assume he's being bought as first choice, and are using it as a reason to moan for the sake of it. The Watford fans seem to rate him, and they see him a lot more than the likes of we do. I don't have much of a problem I just think it's odd that we're suddenly spending up to three million (a figure I've seen quoted) on a player who's only ever going to be seen as backup, I have no idea on how good or otherwise the lad is and I'm only basing the him being only brought in as backup on what Pardew seems to be saying. Also that seems to be a lot of money to spend on someone who we don't see as better than Williamson.
  13. Think this is a key point. I think Williamson has generally done pretty well for us but I don't think he's got the ability of Taylor (who has never been the greatest himself) and the difference between the two clowns that we had up front and Ba (you would expect Cisse) is massive. Guthrie's come in and done well but again he's way off Tiote and also plays a very different game.
  14. Seems a little odd that we'd spend £2m-£3m on backup given how much (Cisse aside) we've been spending on first teamers in the last couple of years. Personally I'd rather see us bring in someone younger who could possibly develop into a first choice player than someone who's only ever going to be backup. That said I don't think we can risk another siutation where we're playing Simpson and Perch in the middle so I'm happy to see we're doing something about that.
  15. The only way saggy face would sanction Pav coming here is if it was part of a deal for Ba so let's hope that's a non starter!
  16. Staggering! One of the worst twenty minutes of football especially defending I've ever seen. And that after a first half of completely dominating the game. Parkys right though, Pardews tactics were spot on first half but he didn't react to the Johnson substitution at all. I fancied us for a poor game and result before the game but it's really dissapointing after such a good first 45.
  17. You would think that would go without saying but with some of the pricks we've signed over the years it clearly hasn't always happened.
  18. If a club like Arsenal came in for him though, the first point then could become valid.
  19. It's was over 100 years ago. Long before subs were used. I think we won the league that season and Sunderland lost 8-1 to Burnley or someone like that in the same year. If that doesn't sum those fuckers up Aye, we won the league and beat them something like six nil at home that season and apparently they kicked us off the park so we finished with about eight men. Still they won't let that get in way of thinking it's something they can hold over us!
  20. Best is 24 man! Younger than both Tiote, Cabaye, Cisse and Ba! And let's not forget he's shite! what do we want from our 3rd/4th choice striker? 6 goals in 9 last season 4 this season so far 4 in 17 this season is hardly impressive. He's not premiership quality but I'm not too arsed if he's only 4th choice. It's him being first or second choice that pisses me off! How many of those appearances were as a sub though? 2

  23. Cheer up. Look on the positive side, if something it happens, it happens. No point worrying about speculation in your mind. Don't get me wrong, I couldnt help being excited about this if I tried, it's great news. And if this was a signing the last board had made I'd have no concerns at all. But I haven't been asleep for the past three years, I know what generally happens when we get our hopes up under the fat cunt. As do you. But I am happy today and if I still am at the end of the window I'll even give Ashley credit for this.
  24. Could still be a replacement for Ba! But if he is then at least replacing him with someone who appears to be quality. Fear it could well mean the end of one of Tiote, Colo or Krul which would mean they would need replacing also. Hopefully though it's just a sign we're really giving Europe a go!
