  1. YLT have been around for a good while. They're not quite the grandfathers of indie rock, but they're the middle-agers. And Then Nothing Turned Itself Out was a really good album. I like them, but I'm not a huge devotee. And Then Nothing is probably my favourite album of theirs but their new one is a lot more ecclectic and a lot closer to I Can Hear The Heart in style. It's very good as are all of their albums. They're very well received by the critics but for some reason I hardly ever hear anyone mention them which is a shame.
  2. I'm From Barcelona - Let Me Introduce My Friends
  3. Whilst not lightening Robert definitely had good pace.
  4. Watching the Manure Arse game yesterday what struck me most was the pace at which the game was played. The top clubs just don't seem to more than one or two players in their teams that aren't really fast. I know it's a long shot as to whether he will ever play football regularly again and I know there are many on here who would be happy for that to be the case. But for me we have played our best football since the Keegan days when we had the pace of Dyer, Bellamy and Robert in the team and I really think that with Dyer, Martins, Duff & N'Zogbia we have an oppertunity to get back to playing that way.
  5. Anyone heard when we can expect to see him for twenty minutes before he breaksdown again?
  6. Is that the slang for bumming a fat fudge packer then?
  7. If that happens give him a swift punch in the gut and he won't say another word.
  8. The two complete polar opposites of fame in one sentence!
  9. Sorry I'm not up on all this top of the pops shit. Too busy listening to bands with irrational hatreds of months who actually make decent music.
  10. Apart from when they're bred in a fish farm... Not just then, with shrimp fishing something like 95% of the catch is discarded (already dead). Like I said, I know it doesn't stand up in reality but I never let that get in the way of a good theory
  11. Personally I've never thought that there was that much between them and Harper is unfortunate that he only gets one game in twenty so is unlikely to ever be at his best when he comes in. Maybe this time he'll get a decent run and we can see just how good he is. Hopefully Roeder will tell him that as long as he plays well he will keep his place in the team because he deserves that sort of loyalty in return for what he has given us.
  12. Annalism? Exactly. Now I am sure Patrokles and David Kelly will thank me for ruining this thread! So does all this mean you've heard the album or are you still stuck on the lastest from S Club 7?
  13. My aunt borders on being a Vegan and she got my dad to be one of those fishy veggies that Alex hates, and I was the same till I was about fifteen. Mainly because of taste for me although I've always found the idea fish at least having a life of their own before they got caught somewhat comforting (I know this doesn't always stand up in reality). But I always found the look of Chicken and Steak appealing and as I've got older I've ate more and more meat. I do still enjoy vegetable dishes a lot and if I'm having pizza or pasta I nearly always go for the veggie option.
  14. I've only heard this one and The Sunset Tree and I agree I prefer his more upbeat songs (This Year and Dance Music being two of my favourite songs from last year) but I am still enjoying the album. Have you heard any Yo La Tengo? I had never heard anything by them until about six months ago and now they are quite possibly my favourite band and I'm trying raise their profile.
  15. The Abyss Special Edition. The special edition is very good but the normal version is pretty much n watchable.
  16. Serena Maneesh. Quality mix of MBV, Jesus & Mary Chain, Yo La Tengo, Sonic Youth and about a hundred other cool bands.
  17. Just go a hold of this but I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet since I've also got the new ones from Yo La Tengo (contender for album of the year), The Decemberists, The Mountain Goats and Grizzly Bear all of which I've enjoyed over the weekend and would recomend.
  18. It was noticable as soon as Bramble went off on Thursday. He has more passing ability than any of our other defenders but far too often he just chooses the big punt. The others tend to play it simple a lot more which means they allow our midfielders to get the ball and use it.
  19. Is it ? Source ? PS...it is FACT that we are a bigger, better and more ambitious club than we were before the current board took over this club. Do you always believe speculation and ignore proper facts Is that a fact? I always thought we were better and more ambtious under Johnny Hall!
  20. League Of Gentlemen Apocalypse Not as good as the series but some bloody funny bits and nearly as unsettling. The bit where they take his eyes out is class.
  21. That's going way over the top tbh Dan. Emre and Moore both had good games, Parker and Rammage (in the centre) were both solid, Duff did well playing way out of position and the Sib did well considering he's nee good and wasn't match fit. Carr was his usual poor self, Bramble continued to look very iffy, Given needs to improve his distribution because his and Bramble's long punts are preventing us from playing any football, the Zog faded when Duff went behind him and Martins looks well short of match fitness and is struggling to adapt to our kick and rush game. It was a poor match to watch but were weren't as awfull as is being made out. apart from a 30 minute spell in the first half we were gash, when you consider the quality of the opposition. i don't buy into the whole 'there's no easy games in europe' line. that was an easy game. we should have put it to bed by a good few goals and kickstarted our season. instead we go into the west ham game with little or no confidence. I certainly agree it wasn't a good team performance and we should have done more to give us a much needed lift going into the weekend but as I pointed out there were some good individual dislplays.
  22. The biggest problem is, as has already been mentioned, the fact that we don't look like we can raise our game. A team of Given, Carr, Baba, Taylor, Moore, Duff, Zog, Emre, Parker, Martins and Shola (our probable best eleven while Owen and Dyer remain unavailable) while weak in both fullback positions should be able to produce some good football and be able comfortably beat oposition of the calibre of Levadia or Fulham. But when was the last time you saw us looking good? Certainly not this season.
